I'm not aware of how Drexel does it, but generally I am not sure if that would be a reason many schools would take for deferral. Your best bet is to ask the admissions office directly - worst they say is no. Is there a reason you want/need to push medical school back a year (and thus a year of attending money) in order to be a CRC for another year? Expressing why might help your case.hi do any current students know how drexel handles deferral requests? Am thinking of deferring an A to work a research coordinator position for one more year

I honestly just realized it might be nice to live life for another year before locking in for the rest of my life! And yes I’ve read about this and concluded that it seems to vary widely by each school. Was hesitant initially to ask the admissions committee bc I know this is not a great reason lol but I think the only way to find out is to ask their policy

I am not seeing it on my portal... would you be willing to explain what you are seeing/DM me explaining more specifically where it indicates your assignment?Campus assignments are out! They're in the portal under admissions decision 🙂

Of course! In my portal there's a section under admissions decision right above "Campus Visit" that says "Philadelphia Campus Assignment"! I did also get an email later in the day saying that my campus had been assigned. I wonder if they're doing them in batches?I am not seeing it on my portal... would you be willing to explain what you are seeing/DM me explaining more specifically where it indicates your assignment?

Gotcha. Just to alleviate your potential concerns - I lived my life pretty well as an M1 despite being in medical school! You will have plenty of time to do things outside of school and ECs if you can plan and study accordingly, and having our flipped classroom and P/F also helps with that. My class was going out every weekend and stuff.

Can someone please explain to me how to reach out to the financial aid office? I've been trying to talk about my financial aid package and possibly negotiate and I've been ping ponged between 3 different departments over the past two weeks.

Anyone who interviewed 2/7 hear back yet?
I doubt they will match or give you more, tbh. They have so many students and probably not a ton of aid to give between them all, unless I’m missing something. Can someone please explain to me how to reach out to the financial aid office? Does anyone know of a group chat for accepted students here? I know there is the Facebook group that hasn't opened. Also do people know where they are looking to live in Philadelphia? I've never been so I'd appreciate some recommendations.

About to begin M3, but most of my class lives in University City/Mantua or Center City!
I think the entire medical school experience in WR has been so much smoother with much more communicative feedback than what I've heard anecdotally from Philly students, and after M2 year you're not really distinct as a Philly campus student anymore anyways since you all scatter around the different sites. I've liked that I know my classmates, all big whopping 40 of us, and that we get to stick together through all four years - we're kind of in the know with who's who in the community now, and all the physicians in the area. About 20 Philly students are placed at Reading Hospital for their year long third year site and there are rotator students who get put here on occasion. What are everyone's thoughts on the West Reading campus? From my interview, it sounded like the two campuses would be better placed in terms of convenience of rotations being done at Tower Health's Reading Hospital. This year was the first graduating class from Reading and apparently they did pretty well for themselves (reported in my interview session).
Clinically speaking, as a soon to be M4, my Reading Hospital experience has been great, with the caveat that it can totally depend on who you rotate with/who you work with lol. Knew a lot of the faculty physicians from M1 and M2, interest groups are able to actively connect with them sooner, and we get shadowing experience much sooner. The current M4 students matched very well - I'm going to try to separate them out from the full list Drexel puts out if they don't do so themselves - and the ones who didn't go through the match this year are all finishing their research years in ENT, neurosurgery, orthopedics. Knowing who's going into what makes reaching out to upperclass students so much easier over here.
There is no difference in curriculum other than having a much, MUCH smaller faculty:student ratio here and our class isn't separated into two. We have less cadavers because less students so ironically we know all of our anatomy test cadavers better. Same clinical texts, exams, scenarios. Major organizational clubs are cross-campus and will require representation from both campuses, with the likelihood of getting leadership positions higher as there are less students here. And there's been a trend of starting campus specific clubs to take advantage of the club funding to feed students, get a PS5 (to my shock as well) because there's the same funding to spread to less people here lol
The area is also rapidly expanding with a lot of new things opening up, but you definitely won't get the city experience. That being said, nothing's stopping you from going anyplace more exciting with a car. Lots of commuters don't live in Reading and we go to the city/King of Prussia/Lancaster as time allows. Not that medical school allows much time in general lol
Happy to speak more about WR if you're interested!

Has anyone else signed up for a campus visit and know if business casual or business professional clothing is preferred/required or if it doesn't matter? Just curious!
Anyone still no hold, no interview, no R…
