2024-2025 Georgetown

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
looks like they're combing back thru July to kill off cowering survivors. this feels like it goes against the Geneva convention, dont quote me on that

Did anyone else on the WL who submitted a letter not get any confirmation or anything that it was received? I can’t see the letter anymore on the portal and I can’t find any indication that it went through. When I submitted the text all disappeared and it said “this page is not complete” but still made the submitted sound that the portal makes lol.

did u do a letter of intent

yea and I just don’t know if it was received. Did anyone else who submitted one have any sort of confirmation that they got it?
I haven't received any confirmation either. It still gives the option to edit even though I hit submit (not just save). Is this the same for anyone else? I just want to make sure that its actually submitted.

Hi! This is my one and only interview invite of the cycle and its my dream school, would any current medical student or really just anyone with wisdom to share be willing to chat on how I can best prepare myself? I'm so grateful for the interview and would be over the moon if I could turn this interview into an acceptance

if I interviewed in the last week of September, when should I start to worry if I haven't heard back yet?

Look at old interview feedback and go over the reported questions: https://www.studentdoctor.net/schoo...26/georgetown-university-school-of-medicine/1

Practice those and other typical interview questions you think med schools will ask like “why medicine?”, “what’s an example of a time you failed/were challenged?”, “or “give me an example of a healthcare disparity”. Try not to memorize your answers but make sure you have an example in mind for most scenarios and be prepared to talk about it. Practice in front of a mirror or with your family/friends or even dog/cat/turtle just so you can get used to speaking without long pauses. What I would do is record myself and watch the answers back to make sure what I was saying generally made sense. Overall, Ik this is cliche but be yourself. If you have an interview that means they already like you and thought u were special among the 12,000+ applications they got. Smile, laugh, talk about your life outside medicine when you get the chance and you’ll be fine. Good luck!

if I interviewed in the last week of September, when should I start to worry if I haven't heard back yet?
The official timeline was 10-12 weeks, although they seem to be moving ahead of that. In my interview (also the end of September) they said to reach out if you hadn’t heard by mid December.

Georgetown does not ghost interviewees—we haven’t heard back because there isn’t news yet, not because a specific decision has been made!

I just passed the 12-week mark post-interview w/ no correspondence LOL should I keep waiting . . . anyone else waiting on a decision from early Sept?

Given that this school apparently loves when people beg/write letters, is it wise/worth it to send an update/interest before receiving post-II?

Withdrawing prior to interviewing. good luck everyone!

what sources have u guys been using to help write the letter of intent?
Look at the “sticky” page for pre med links on SDN. There are several “how to” posts. But really, what are your reasons to be a good fit for this school? Write those.

just got a waitlist email (interviewed early October), based off reading this thread, it seems that they like to receive letters of interest (which I did not send). would it be wise to send around March, when their waitlist movement starts to pick up?

+1 WL, interviewed early october. what are opinions on how waitlists move? I'm not entirely sure if I should send an update letter bc I feel like I haven't done much

For those who wrote letters after being waitlisted, can you still see them in the portal? I can’t see my letter anymore and I just wanted to be sure it got submitted
