2024-2025 Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM-Bradenton)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I submitted my secondary application on 6/20 and the portal still says application completed, as it hasn't entered the review stage yet.
I contacted LECOM about this twice over the past couple months and they just keep saying has been received and will be reviewed. So guess I just have to keep waiting!

Mine is the same. I finally got past it on Lecom Erie and got the II two weeks ago - it'll happen, just be patient (easier said than done, I know since I'm still waiting for Bradenton as well lol).

Congrats on the II for Erie! Glad to know I am not alone with the Bradenton situation, but yeah just have to keep patiently waiting!
This is a side-note, but I saw your username and remembered we were talking a few weeks back about NSU KPCOM. Seems like we keep running into each other on here lol

Thanks!! Yeah! I have yet to hear from NSU unfortunately. Anything back on your end yet?

congrats! when did you do your interview? and did you also apply to erie?
Congratulations! Did you attend the on campus day? Also did your portal update to say a decision has been made?
Thank you! I interviewed on 07/26. Did not apply to Eerie or attend the in-person campus day.

It initially said a decision has been made, but then got changed to "in-review" and I got a text today saying "Congratulations! You have just been emailed an offer to join the LECOM Bradenton Class of 2029. Let me know if you have any questions." Also my portal now has information about accepting/declining my offer!

Huge congrats future doc! I'm totally biting my nails now, I interviewed on the 22nd and my application still says "in-review". Did you indicate that you wanted to be notified early anywhere?

Congrats!! Is there a deadline for when you have to put a deposit down for a spot in the class? Also if you do accept, can you withdraw if you get accepted elsewhere?

wow that's cool! I interviewed on the same day for erie/seton hill. The exact same thing happened to me regarding the change in status for the portal. Maybe decisions will come sooner than expected for the first wave? either way, happy for you champ.

Does anyone know if accepting the acceptance is binding? Like does it mean that we have to remove our other applications? I'm nervous because of the 1 month turn-around, and I'm still waiting to hear back from my top choice.

Theres a $1500 non-refundable deposit you have to pay to claim your spot within one month from the acceptance email

You can have multiple deposits for multiple med schools before a certain date (it may be April 30? not sure), after that date you can only have one deposit and all other med school offers must be rejected. This tells the school that you plan on coming and provides them with some form of compensation if you decide not to go, which you can do at any time. I also was accepted into a LECOM campus and feel like their method of giving acceptances this early is slightly predatory. Little/no other medical schools give a decision this early, or even a month from this date. This means that most students, likely me included, will put down the $1500 deposit as a way of ensuring we will be at some medical school next year. Its also worth noting than most medical school have no deopist or it is very cheap, $2000 is the highest I've seen.

Hope that helps

2k is relatively cheap i guess at least in comparison to the actual tuition, but 2k is not *very* cheap IMO haha

Quick question, if you ended up going to another medical school how did you go about actually notifying them? I don't want to get myself into a situation where I'm mistakenly bound to it, they have multiple things to sign/fees to pay and I'm not sure which I should do now to hold my spot and which I should avoid

This was helpful, thanks!

ExploreDO says that LECOM follows their traffic rules and that we have until December 14 to put a deposit down if accepted before November, has anyone accepted been asked to put down a deposit already?

my bad my grammar was weird, I was saying that for most medical schools the deposit is cheap (like $150), LECOM's is crazy expensive

This is my first cycle so unsure of that myself. What I do know is that just like for undergraduate, placing down a deposit is not binding. You can have multiple deposits and turn down your offer at any time. The only caveat is that after a certain date you must narrow down to one medical school. I imagine its as simple as emailing ADCOM and telling them you are turning down the offer. Also, from my understaning other medical schools wont know that you've been accepted to another school unless you tell them.

Hi. So I got an A and made the $1500 deposit to hold my seat. Do we need to sign the matriculation agreement rn or can that be done with the March 1st $500 matriculation deposit.
Or in maybe related question is the matriculation agreement binding if I were to sign it? Thanks

wondering this as well!

I hope this is true because it is implied that we have 30 days. I'm hoping to clarify with a call this week.

Yes, they give you 1 month after acceptance.

Hi, how long did it take for the status to change to in review, after secondary submission?
I submitted my secondary in the beginning of June and my status still hasn't changed to "in-review". I did email them and they confirmed it is currently "in-review" but it doesn't show that in my portal.

Do we need to complete both Bradenton and Erie's site applications to be considered?

+1 IS II

would appreciate any advice for the asynchronous interview 🙂

I'm not sure what Explore DO is, but LECOM wants their deposit within 30 days, so way before the traffic guideline of December.

Has anyone else not heard back from LECOM-B for more than 4 weeks? I submitted my interview 8/9.

I think the interview questions on SDN's page are good. Try practicing recording yourself answering those questions in 90 to 120 seconds.

They had a practice interview question before the real ones that didn't count for you to get used to the layout.
Before each of the first 5 questions there was a short 30 sec video about LECOM that didn't have much to do with the question. The last one for me didn't have a video.
You then click to open your question, and have 30 seconds to think, 120 seconds to answer.

has anybody who interviewed heard anything lately? It’s been dead silence for like 5 weeks 🤣
