Is anyone interviewing in person? I am trying to decide whether I can make interviewing in-person work because I like far enough away where I need to fly and work full-time so would need to take leave.

How soon are the II dates?

I ended up deciding to interview in-person, and would love to meet others who are also interviewing that day. Feel free to message me. Also open to any advice from current students regarding the interview process 🙂

Are any current students willing to answer some questions for me? If yes, please PM. Thank you 🙂

does anyone know where to find specific curriculum details or opportunities for question 1, i feel like i cant find anything on their website

Hey guys! for the phonetic part of the secondary are we supposed to be using symbols from that website or just basic phonetic spelling?

Does anyone know if they will still consider LORs valid if it just has my first or ms. last name 😅 The secondary email says in bold letters "it is very important your LORs have your full name". I think some of the ones I assigned to the school might just have my first name.

I just did all caps in the most basic phonemes of my name. You could also probably looks yours up if you really wanted to.

You're applying to just 6 schools?
Grew up in Chicagoland, don't want to leave so I only applied to Chicagoland schools. Plus I could hardly afford applying to only 6 schools lol I have no idea how I'd apply to more

Wouldn't this just be based on the AMCAS letters, and how your writers uploaded it?

tbh it's bc I wasnt sure if my writers just did Ms. (Last name) or (first name) only, when the secondary email says make sure it says full name explicitly. Imma just assume they put my full name since they've written letters before 😭

Hey there! (New to SDN)

Received an interview invite earlier today (~1PM EST)! ORM, LM 70. Got my secondary on 7/29 and submitted it on 8/4. I was given a couple of interview dates (both virtual or in-person) to choose from and am planning to interview Sept 5 in-person.

I would really appreciate it if there are any current Loyola students I could speak to regarding the interview process. Also open to meet others who are also interviewing!

"Although the committee considers community college credits within the academic review, these credits cannot be used to fulfill required pre-requisite coursework." From MSAR

Should I even submit my secondary? I did most of my pre-requisites at my community college, so I don't know if they are going to just toss my application. 🙁

Don’t believe everything you read on msar. It says this on their website

"Community college courses are accepted as fulfilling premedical requirements, but the committee strongly recommends at least 12 hours of science coursework from a four-year university or graduate program."

I believed the schools write what is on MSAR so I went with it. Thank you

Has anyone interviewed here yet? Could they talk a little about how they felt the "vibes" were?

OOS II 8/18 - LM 68.4 - Completed 8/3.
On a side note, does anybody know if there's an advantage to doing an in-person interview compared to virtual?

if you can afford it and can take the time off it is better IMO to go in person. It shows commitment to school and it is easier to connect with interviewer in person than over zoom. my maybe hot take is the "hybrid" interview perpetuates inequity in admission since the people that can afford to make it in person have the advantage. all interviews should just be virtual IMHO

I currently work at Stritch and from what adcoms have told me is that there is no benefit one over the other. It's purely to give people a chance to come visit campus but doesn't actually impact the admission process since they realize that some people can't make it out.

To clarify I don’t think there is any “on paper” benefit to in person interviewing and I am sure the school doesn’t outwardly favor in person interviews. I do think that it incorporates more bias into the process. When you can make physical eye contact with someone in person, shake someone’s hand, and physically interact with someone that psychologically is going to make it easier to connect with a person when compared with over a computer screen. Taking the time be there in person demonstrates a commitment to the school that is harder to to convey over zoom. To ignore the bias in person interviewing adds is IMO problematic. Hence why I feel all interviews should be over zoom as that method is most accessible to all applicants and mitigates unconscious bias.

Again this is just my opinion. Does in person vs virtual make a huge difference in your admission decision? Probably not. Does an in person interviewer have an advantage over virtual? I argue on a phycological and interpersonal level, yes.

Not for a school without a hard deadline, and please don’t post this same message across your school threads.
