I think same time as acceptances. That's why they said as long as you don't get a rejection, it's good news.

cycletrack shows that they start going out in january, but i think they supposedly continuously revisit applicants, so don't lose hope 🙂

Thanks, but not likely, I’ve been down this road before. I’m a reapplicant but just forgot when they start sending out rejections. Writing this off as a R and putting my eggs in other baskets. Good luck to everyone else!

@briankim163 I ran a little analysis by scraping some data off of last year's forum and then using the ChatGPT API to characterize if a message was talking about an acceptance or not (There were definitely false positives and negatives, but it was just a quick heuristic) and then graphed it out. Most acceptances were in Jan-Feb, so I think you're good.

Does anyone know if they’re sending more As throughout the day? Also, has anyone gotten an A that interviewed on 10/31?

If people who were interviewed later than you have gotten accepted while you haven't, is that basically a waitlist/rejection? Not trying to be neurotic here, but there's got to be a reason why they passed over me who interviewed on 10/22 to extend acceptances to applicants who interviewed after that date. I just want to be realistic and get others' thoughts because this is my only II so far this cycle (stats are 519, 3.82, with thousands of clinical hours) and I want to start getting ready for a reapplication ASAP if I have to, since MCG seems to only start sending rejections and waitlists after the new year.

It's a rolling admission, so they want to ensure they don't give out ALL of the spots to people at the beginning. Once they stop with interviews, they'll revisit the list to extend more acceptances, rejections, and waitlists to the full applicant pool.

So right now we're basically just sort of in a limbo where they're filling up the post-II applicant pool.

Nah. Plenty of people interviewed in like August or September last year, and then were accepted in February in the last big A wave. If you're not accepted in the first month or two post-interview, you'll probably have to wait until then.

That's good. I also took a look at the 2023-2024 thread for MCG and it seems that some applicants were skipped over for multiple A waves and eventually accepted a few months after their interview, with lots of movement in January and February.
 
For those who were accepted, did you only upload the document to the portal to save your spot or did you reply to the acceptance email as well?
 
Did any of the accepted applicants here get any kind of confirmation that the forms to reserve your spot have been completed after uploading to the portal?

I did not- but a while later I received a campus preference form- roughly a month later! You can always call admissions and make sure they have everything they need- I did this for peace of mind. Make sure your Georgia residence documentation is in as well assuming you’re IS 🙂

okay so does anyone know what research looks like on the savannah campus? I am still deciding between campuses. Also, does anyone live in Augusta? Can you let me know what it's like living there?
 
sorry yall if it was tone deaf as others wait for interviews and stuff. Its just hard finding information for all these things. Anyone else accepted struggling to figure out where they wanna be placed?

Savannah used to be a clinical campus, so they've had research ongoing for a while already, but probably not as much as Augusta. Since they started the full 4-year campus last year and hired more faculty, I'd guess they'd be ramping up even more research.
I'm in Augusta rn. It's not a bad city, I quite like it. It's still a bit damaged from the hurricane a couple months ago, but it's recovering.
If you're from Atlanta, Augusta might take some getting used to. If you're from anywhere else in GA though, it's not a big change. It was an upgrade for me coming from a smaller city.
Housing is plentiful and there are some decent low cost options. Lots of bars, restaurants, grocery stores everywhere. Outdoor activities if you're into that.
I'm sure in Savannah, everything is significantly more expensive.
Research is very easy to get into anywhere as a med student. In Augusta at least, it's as simple as asking one of your professors, a doc you're shadowing, or just cold emailing somebody on the AU website.

I’m about to interview next week but I live in Augusta and have lived here my entire life. I also graduated from AU and have worked at AU (now Wellstar) for the last 6 years and have done research through the medical school for the last 3 years.

Both. Because I am an employee at the hospital it’s not hard to get clinical research as there are so many residents that would gladly take the free labor to write up case reports or help with chart review type activities. I started on a RCT with a crit care fellow but the project ended up going nowhere and did two case reports. As far as bench work I had a professor during my bachelors who was faculty through the MD/PhD program, and I reached out to him and stayed in his lab about 2 years in a volunteer capacity. Really has just come down to networking and being willing to make yourself useful

Does MCG have merit scholarships? I wasn’t aware that they did! I thought it was exclusively based on financial need?

MCG offers merit scholarships to 12 students, 6 full tuition and 6 half tuition I believe. Unless it has changed this year, but it had been like that in past years. I believe they are awarded in March

Please anyone knows when they send you the zoom link for the MMI? If say, the interview is this week.

I thought it would be today, but I don’t think it is since I have not seen anything on here, nor on cycle track.

I think it should be next Friday. Last cycle they sent out decisions third friday in december. Many other schools follow that as well
