2024-2025 Medical College of Georgia

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Has anyone on the waitlist called admissions just to see if they would tell you anything

Did regional pathway folks have to interview with the SW or NW campus deans for the 2024-2025 application cycle or is that something new for the 2025-2026 cycle?

I applied SW for 2024-2025 cycle and had to interview with the SW Campus Dean. It was only 10 minutes and super laid back. He said that he had not seen my file and did not know anything about me. He mainly just talked about the SW campus and let me ask questions. Easiest part of the whole interview day.

I interviewed with the SW associate dean cause the dean wasn’t available. Super chill interview and real fast. You do it after the MMI and basically they just put you into a breakout room when the other applicants are having their meeting with the students at campuses other than Augusta because regional students are Augusta campus only for the first two years

I spoke with them today, and they mentioned that there should be some more movement soon since the Commit to Enroll deadline is coming up. I also found out that we can't submit a new application to MCG until the current one is officially closed.

Saw that the groupme has 346 members in them. I think I remember someone saying that there’s some liaisons and upperclassmen in it. But it looks like right now, unless there’s a lottt in the groupme who CTE’d at other schools and just never left the chat, class may be about full. So now movement will solely depend on who drops, and how many CTE from now until July 7th.

Class size I think will be 314. A student at the Savannah campus Open House told our tour group that the class size at that campus would go up from 40 to 50, so that’s 10 more seats than last year. They want to get Savannah up to 60 I believe, but probably by next cycle.

Right now there are roughly 20ish liaisons and upperclassmen in the groupme, give or take some that I may have missed. There was some pretty good movement a few weeks ago with a lot of people leaving after committing to other schools so I think it’s fair to assume that the class is close to full

I’m not really a sports ball fan, but I’ve heard “game is gone” used in the context of football. It basically means things are on the decline or trending negatively in some respect. I think what dubuGolem is trying to say is that odds of an acceptance at this point are slim to none, so anyone who’s still on the WL should count MCG as a loss and plan accordingly. I’m inclined to agree with this sentiment and have pretty much given up on going here. Sucks when I wrote updates and a letter of intent, on top of living in GA my entire life, but it is what is.

Basically means “we’re cooked”. With it being mid June and there being little to no reported movement. Class is likely full and it’s time for us to mentally move on and not pray for miracles. If a miracle does happen, great, but not worth losing sleep over to pray for that miracle yk.

Best wishes to all of y’all on here! We’ll all make great doctors, regardless of the path we take to get there. <3

Praying that there are some who are waiting to drop their As last minute and we see some movement in July which has happened in prior cycles. That’s the only hope I have for rn at the moment, but agree that things look bleak unfortunately.

I can confirm there are a ton of people in the Class of 2029 GroupMe who are already enrolled at MCG, about 80 total (mainly M1s who just became M2s this week, including myself). That leaves in reality about 270 potential new students in the chat (total number in the GroupMe is 353 currently). However, last year around this time, there was very little waitlist movement moving forward. Congratulations to everyone who is starting here next month, and for everybody still waiting, keep pushing-- you'll all be great doctors someday, no matter where you go for school.

If you are still on the waitlist and are waiting to hear back from MCG, like/reply this post so that we know how many of us are out there and what is the possibility of getting off the waitlist at this time. thanks!
did anyone hear anything?

I called for an update and they said that they do have a set class, but they are now just waiting for everyone to finalize. Movement at this point will likely depend on last minute drop offs due to deferrals or failure to fulfill matriculation requirements. We should be hearing back in the next week or so on a final update for those still on the WL.

Wish WL movement could have been better this year, but wishing everyone the best of luck on their journeys.

so you think WL movement gonna be pretty small. I’m so impresssed you you got so much information from them. They always just shut me down

Haha yeah, I had to wait till after CTE to call since they definitely would have a clearer idea about the class capacity at this point. They say as long as your app is still active that there is a chance theoretically, but yes, I’d say movement is likely limited to a trickle. If I had to guess, maybe 1 or 2 spots open up at the most, and even that may not be a guarantee. I would say be prepared to move forward with future plans and don’t hold out for any miracle, but if you happen to get the A, it would be that much sweeter.

That makes sense. Oh well

I emailed them and they told me “final decision will be sent out soon”
🙈

Rejection received today. It was a great ride with y’all on here this past cycle. I’m sure everyone here will make amazing doctors wherever you go <3

I ended up taking the MS/MD offer, so here’s to hoping I can make it into the class of 2030.
