Has anyone still not have heard yet from MCW?

Edit: I have not gotten an interview invite nor a rejection and I want to see if I am the only one.

Do we have any info if their post II A rate is high? Does that mean that most waitlist students end up getting in?

A question about logistics traveling from Milwaukee to Toledo if anyone can help a fellow applicant out?

I have been extremely fortunate to have been accepted to both MCW Milwaukee and UToledo. I'm not from the Midwest but I've been researching travel to and from Milwaukee. Milwaukee has its Second Look Day for accepted students on Friday, April 25 this year, and UToledo's is Saturday, April 26. They both begin early in the morning and are full days, I'm guessing maybe around 8 a.m. until 5 or 6 pm.

Would it be possible to travel from Milwaukee to Toledo that Friday night and still be sufficiently well rested to attend UToledo's program bright and early immediately the day after? I'll be flying into Milwaukee the day before MCW's program too. I've researched online that Toledo supposedly doesn't have a major airport (?) so a lot of people end up flying into Detroit and then they rent a car to drive an hour or so to Toledo. I drive a lot but I'm not sure I want to do that while lacking sleep, driving on unfamiliar roads, dealing with logistics of rental car agencies, parking, checking into and out of a hotel, etc. with barely any spare time.

So I may skip Toledo's program. I don't think this is really that doable to do both MCW and UToledo's days back to back. Thoughts from people if anyone knows better?

Milwaukee is a great city. If it's your preferred program, it would be worth your time to explore the city over the weekend. If Toledo is your preferred program, maybe you should check it out instead. 🙂

Any current students here who attended the second look- how was the event? Is it basically an extended info session or more engaging where you’d find future roommates/mentors etc? Trying to see if it’s worth the cost when I know I will be 400k in debt soon…🙃

Here's a screenshot of last year's schedule that a current student gave us in the GroupMe. The "PBD" is a patient based discussion. She described it as small group work about an example patient based on the current block. Certainly seems like you'll meet a lot of other incoming students, but doesn't seem needed if its tricky to make it.

This is really helpful! Thank you!!

I haven’t got a groupme link after getting accepted last month- is it something you can share here?

I still have not heard back from MCW at all since their november update? Should I reach out to them or just wait longer?

I would do both. Yes long day, yes tired, but this is a big decision and I would want to be informed.
Do you have someone that could go with you and drive from WI to OH.
I would be very excited at both and not have an issue with being tired until the OH visit was over on the 26th. Then I'd sleep like a log.
If you were worried about being tired let them know your situation incase you do end up drowsy. Or see if they would be willing to do a one on one visit at either campus.

Has anyone who’s interviewed to the MSTP and didn’t hear back yet know what it means and or when we should hear back

I haven't heard back yet, though I was waitlisted for MD so I'm stuck at a certain level of the stairway.

My guess would be they're still deciding on who to accept or wait-list. Perhaps enough people received an A and haven't withdrawn yet. So that delays decisions on their end.

Does anyone know what scrub color is used at MCW? I am being gifted scrubs and I don’t want to get the wrong color.

Also, is there a link for the accepted students group?

ive been told there are no color requirements so you can choose your favorite 🙂

the groupme is in your secondary portal, under the admissions decision tab there should be a “decision making resources” tab where you’ll find it

Hi everyone, I just received a post II-R from MCW's MSTP but not yet for MD only. Has an applicant here been through this, or know of someone, where they're rejected MSTP but was accepted MD only later on?

is anyone able to see their fin aid package on MCWconnect? mine was available for like 10 seconds and then it disappeared lol

I don't see anything on my page, but I know for IS the state has to approve our residency first so we might be later

I have mine and it’s just the cost of attendance items (transport, food, rent, etc). Scholarships will be sent later, apparently.

Hey! I'm a second year MSTP at MCW, so I can probably give you some info from what I've been told.

The MCW MSTP is being very cautious this year with the number of people they accept due to all of the funding uncertainties (our program itself is financially fine, but with other grad schools across the country withdrawing acceptances, applicants are understandably anxious about whether their acceptance will last and are less likely to reject positions, if that makes sense). So in order to prevent "over-admitting", the program has limited the initial accepted spots to 10 (instead of the usual 15, which is an overshoot since we only matriculate 10). If one of the 10 people declines the acceptance offer, someone will be taken off the waitlist.

That was the case for me 2 years ago. I was waitlisted at MD, but was accepted into both in early May once they started pulling people off the waitlist for med school.

If you haven't heard something already, you should definitely be getting news by May. If you don't, you should reach out to admissions and see what's going on.

I know a couple people in my class who were rejected from the MCW MSTP but accepted into MD. We do have an internal application for 1st year med students to apply to the MSTP (usually in the spring of their first year). They only accept 1, but the applicant pool is much smaller.

anyone hear about scholarships yet??? i know chances are minimal but i just wanna be done waiting lol 😭 i guess by the end of the day today if we dont get anything that's that...
