Congrats to everyone who has gotten in this week!!!! Truly so exciting.🥳 Does anyone know when Dean Rivera aims to finish giving out decisions? I thought it was by the end of the year, but I'm now thinking it might actually be more like mid January.

If they have accepted all the way up to someone who interviewed on 12/4, they must be close to finishing it. I interviewed 12/10, which was the second to last interview day, and I haven’t heard anything yet. I imagine they could easily finish it today, but we’ll see.

does this also apply to MSTP, or have these all been MD A’s? I dont see any MSTP A’s on cycletrack so I’m curious

I also interviewed on the 10th and haven't heard anything. i imagine they will be done no later than Jan 3rd if we don't hear anything today

There is no point in speculating until you get an email that says you’re rejected. There’s still a chance to be put on the waitlist and be accepted in April or May even. It’s very possible Dr Rivera simply got tired calling at 8:00 pm on Friday and said “I’ll pick it up on Monday.” Until you’ve been rejected, you’re not off the list. I for one haven’t been given any CR or rejection and I interviewed 12/10. Why give up hope now? Is the only way to get into medical school is to get in before January 1st? No.

Also interviewed 12/10 and without CR or R yet. I agree with jewel. Just sit tight, the process will work itself out! You are bright and will be fine 🙂

Hey folks, does anyone have any information about married housing on top of what is on the website? I haven't been able to get any information as of yet. Looking at NYC apartment prices is killing me

During the presentation in interview week they said student married/family housing is about $2600 per month right now.

Any 12/10 / 12/11 interviewers hear anything yet?

🚨uh oh guys 🤯🤯🤯 BAD NEWS ‼️

“On behalf of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, we must share some important news regarding our MSTP program. We are planning modifications to the training of MD/PhD physician scientists that may differ significantly from traditional programs. In anticipation of these changes, we have decided to pause the admission of new MSTP students at this time. As such, we cannot offer you the MD/PhD training you seek at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and are hereby formally withdrawing our offer of admission to the MD/PhD program. As explained below, this does not affect our offer to you of admission to the MD-only program.

We wanted to inform you of this decision promptly so that you may have ample time to consider acceptance offers to MD/PhD programs at other medical schools. We recognize the importance of finding a program that aligns with your aspirations and goals, and we encourage you to explore other opportunities that will allow you to pursue your combined degree training.

Should you wish to keep your acceptance to NYU Grossman School of Medicine, we would welcome you as an MD student. Our MD program is dedicated to delivering an exceptional medical education, and we continue to believe you would be a valuable addition to our community. A follow-up email from the MD admissions office will come later today.

We understand that this news may be disappointing, and we are here to assist you in any way we can. Should you have any questions or need further guidance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your understanding and for considering the NYU Grossman School of Medicine as a part of your academic journey. We wish you the very best in your future endeavors and look forward to the possibility of welcoming you to our MD program.

Sincerely,

Erik P. Sulman, MD, PhD Assistant Dean for Physician Scientist Education Director, Medical Scientist Training Program

Rafael Rivera Jr, MD, MBA Associate Dean for Admissions and Financial Aid“

I just want my $110 back

Wow that’s nuts, I’m sorry to anyone who was hoping to do that program at NYU… very surprising.

I’m curious to hear what changes they have planned. Given their recent trailblazing w free tuition, 3yr program, etc., I’m hopeful that the changes will ultimately be for the better.

Also i’m sure if anyone legit wants a refund you could email them and ask. Worst case they so no, but this seems like something they’d at least hear you out on.

That said, maybe don’t ask if you’re considering taking the MD only offer lol. And I encourage folks do so cause this year’s class is still gonna be

I think it has to be a NIH funding issue, because why would they cook their applicants and ruin their rep.

NYU has been t[emoji[emoji[emoji6][emoji6]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]] in NIH funding for a while now, so i would be shocked if this were the case. i would think that if this were they case they would also be more transparent in the email

as an MD only applicant who didn’t interview there, i think there are big changes coming to the structure of their program curriculum wise, given what they’ve done in the past with NYULI

Why can’t they restructure their curriculum while still admitting their class? Also, why would they suddenly just decide in the middle of the cycle? This makes me think there are factors outside their control such as funding changes.

I'm thinking of sending out a hail Mary and call to ask if it's possible to at least transfer my application to the MD only side of things, but I don't want to jump the gun. Was the MSTP cancellation just reported to a few people by email or was it publicly announced somewhere? This whole thing is just plain annoying.

I only applied to NYU MD-only and got rejected earlier in the cycle . . . But I can't help but be struck by how blatantly and egregiously unprofessional this is. Rescinding acceptances is bad enough as it is but doing so in the middle of an admissions cycle without clearly communicating why or even bothering to apologize to applicants that could be having their hopes and dreams crushed? It's insanely disrespectful of applicants' time, effort, and money and really just shows a complete and utter disregard for their prospective students, whose entire livelihoods are at stake. No curricular changes could possibly justify this, and a failure to renew their T32 (or other funding changes) should've been anticipated prior to handing out acceptances. I particularly love that this is termed a "prompt" notification in January. I'm terribly sorry to all the accepted students and hope that you end up finding the right place for you regardless (whether it be NYU MD-only or another MSTP).

I would like to better understand the reasons behind, and the implications of, NYU's decision of withdrawing their MSTP program for this year, prior to matriculating there. Does anyone have any insight on this, or any insight regarding how to best get more information on this?

+ CR. Interviewed 12/12. Good sign at this point in the cycle or no? Seems a little late to hope for an A off CR, maybe I'm being silly though.
