2024-2025 Orlando College of Osteopathic Medicine (OCOM)

Got the A this morning, truly blessed to be given the opportunity especially during this cycle with non existent waitlist movement 🙏. Interviewed in January, sub 500 MCAT. Keep the faith going and good luck to everyone else!
Congratulations. Where you WL? Are you instate?

Anyone get this as well? Is OCOM expecting heavy summer melt? Were they able to fill the class last year fully and did they expend the WL as well?

Not sure what to think of this for us people on the waitlist. It’s either we have a promising chance considering they could be running thin on the WL or we are getting overlooked because they are looking for others. I have no clue what to be thinking right now. They did last year

So do they just discard those on the WL if they are this desperate to get people other than WL ones..?

I got the same email! Interviewing 6/25. I was waitlisted at another school but this is in state for me so I prefer OCOM honestly.
Interviewing on 6/25 wow. They must feel something about the WL. I wonder if other schools are gonna be interviewing this late as well

It’s also possible besides expecting significant melt to other schools that OCOM is worried their current WL/A seats need to meet other diverse class metrics in order get pre-accreditation from COCA. I think for this school there will be a lotta WL movement in the three weeks after the June 18th and 25th interview dates

I'm korean... so mabey I should apply!
Jk

I actually called yesterday and asked if I had a chance at an interview for class of 2029, even tho I haven't submitted a primary... and the lady said yes, I still have a strong chance because they need to fill seats still...
I'm debating if I wanna spend another $200 to apply or not...

Are they looking for higher GPA / MCAT applicants? Or is it something else they’re looking for? It sounds like there are interested people on the WL, so I’m curious about what’s happening

Just curious, to those on the wl, what are your gpas?

I told the admissions representative that I have a 497mcat and 3.45gpa
She said their average mcat has been 502 and gpa 3.3

I’m on the WL! science GPA - 3.51, cumulative GPA - 3.74

That's a high gpa compared to their average (and in general... good job!)

Did you get a decent mcat? I'm sure theyll give you the A soon!

I was taken off the waitlist 2 weeks ago. My GPA is 3.65 and MCAT 500. Non-traditional student.

Which Orlando DO school would you rather go to if you had a choice?

You’re right my b. Just trying to get the vibe for OCOM

Hey everyone! Just wanted to clarify that I was pulled off the waitlist this past Monday.

Stats: cGPA 3.8 | sGPA 3.45 | MCAT 496

I’d been on the waitlist since January, so it was a long journey. What I believe made the difference:
  • I sent multiple letters of intent over time
  • Called admissions several times to express genuine interest
  • Emphasized why I wanted to go to OCOM specifically
  • Highlighted my extensive clinical experience (which I think helped them overlook my MCAT)
  • I also believe I interviewed very well

If you’re still on the waitlist, don’t lose hope. Persistence, a compelling “why OCOM,” and proven dedication to patient care really do matter. Wishing everyone the best!

I was on the waitlist for a little over a month. Interviewed late April. I also interviewed in-person so maybe that helped a little.

Admissions said they will make decisions roughly twice a week. Also stated that they still have 2 interviews left, which most likely will make WL movement less. Luckily, there is still seats still open.

Do you know roughly how many seats are open

Congratulations to all four of you for receiving A today. That is awesome news! Hopefully, I will hear good news soon too. Are you all IS, OOS, OOS but Southeast. Did you all send Letter of Interest or Letter of Intent?

Thank you! I’m in state and I did send both a letter of interest and intent to them. I hope you hear something this week!!

I was IS, I sent a letter of intent after visiting as well!

Applied 2026 cycle and got offered an interview for Fall 2025 on June 25th yesterday. I'd likely take an A if I get one since I live an hour away and the director of research looks good to me.

Does anyone have any advice for applying for the private loans?
