Just got waitlist email. Had to accept my spot on the waitlist!

Congrats to those that matched SHSU, I will see you at the second look in April! To those who are waitlisted, we did have a guy join our class off the waitlist so you still have a chance.

Last years threads look promising. Most of the WL people got in eventually, but I hate how unpredictable it is for us now😞
Heard from an expert that about 30 usually come off the WL from SHSU. In general WL movement tends to happen toward mid April to May when students are required to narrow their selections who hold OOS acceptances.

Does anyone know whether everyone who interviews is offered a spot on the waitlist, or is it more selective?

To those who got the "Admissions Decisions" email, do we have to accept anything or just complete the checklist before the due date? I didn't see there was anything in the AMP portal to accept but I just wanted to make sure.

Keep your email and start collecting or submitting information on your checklist.
Further questions should be sent to the school’s staff at the email they provided in the offer letter.
Congratulations!

Underneath “Admissions Decision” there is a dropdown menu. Click “offer response” and fill out the emergency contact. At the very bottom, click “I accept the offer of admission” and then scroll back up to SUBMIT.

Does anyone know what the waitlist movement is like at SHSU? I got accepetd into an OOS school (im a texas resident) that would start in mid july. So I am thinking that the absolute latest I could hold out would be early- mid june.

It should be wrapped up by mid June based on observing past cycles

It's weird. Mine doesn't have an "Admissions Decision." Should I email them to let them know?

So I got matched here but it was my second rank. If I’m still waiting to get off the waitlist for my first rank, do I accept the acceptance? Or would that take me off the waitlist for my first rank? Thanks in advance!

Yes, accept this one, it’s the school you matched with and at this moment it’s your only acceptance.
You can remain on the WL for the school you ranked #1 until May 15.

I would email them because it came with an emergency contact form that needed to be filled out, and that’s where “I accept offer of admission” could be found and clicked. It also came with a really nice official acceptance letter.

I have this same issue, where I matched but have this same menu without the admission decision.
Did you get this email from them? I got this email on Match Day, and it led me to the portal. It’s strange a lot of people seem to be having this issue. For reference, I did not pre-match.

Yes, I got the same email and went through both that link and entering the portal outside of the email. Neither show the admission decision and only prematriculation tasks.

Does anyone know if SHSU COM sends official acceptance packages in the mail? Some schools send a paper letter and school “swag” gear in the mail.

They did not last year but you get lots of swag at second look and at orientation.

For my fellow waitlisters, are any of you doing anything in preparation just in case you do end up getting off the waitlist? For example, FAFSA or any of the immunizations they asked for? I’m not honestly not sure if I should do anything in preparation. Thanks!

I have started gathering some of the documents they're wanting, such as the immunizations just to be on the safe side and have those at least prepared if the status changes

Does anyone know how much the deposit is for acceptance (if there is one)? Currently on WL and wanting to set the funds aside in case I get accepted. Thanks!

Since it’s a tmdsas school, it’s not going to be like 2k. I haven’t paid anything yet but I think it was 100 and it’s the same for all other tmdsas I think.

Is there anything we can be doing for those who were waitlisted? Sending updates, letters, etc??

Is this the correct package we have to complete on Castlebranch? Also, could someone add me to groupchat please?

For those who can't see the Admissions Decisions tab, I'd recommend reaching out to the school. There was an error in their system that prevented me from moving on to the "Offer Accepted" status because you can only accept the offer under that tab. This delayed generating the Castle Branch email to do all the required next steps. The Admissions Decision tab also has some Save the Dates that you don't see under the Pre-Matriculation tab.

Hey guys! I had a question. I recently got accepted at Sam and live about an hour away so i plan on living close to the COM. I just wanted to know whether my loans /financial aid package offered from the school would cover all costs of living or not. I've never taken a loan from a school so i'm not too sure how it works. Any input is helpful. Thanks!

Were you moved off the waitlist? Just curious!

From our interview day, does anyone remember exactly the number of seats they were offering this year? I know they increased their size and I want to say it was within the 180-190 range but wanted to double check.

I believe class size is still approximately 160 this year
