2024-2025 Stanford

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Is it worth submitting a secondary at this point? Obviously, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take but...it's been well over a month since I got this one, and I'm debating if it's just a waste of my money because it's Stanford (and I am little old me)

They haven't sent a crazy amount of II's, and based on your LM and admit, I'd say you're well within range, I would say it's worth a shot to be honest if you don't mind the cost.
Alrighty, you have convinced me, thank you! 🙂 Now I just need the willpower...

You got the email to submit their secondary, right? LM 70 and I think submitting now is just a donation
Yea I did get the email. I was going to apply but then got discouraged and didn't submit and I basically keep going back and forth on it but if I am just donating then I know its not a good idea

Just saying, y'all should shoot your shot (*esp* if you have FAP)

Obv nothing is guaranteed, but that what-if feeling is a killer - plus who knows, you may be surprised at the outcome!!

Dude, you're a literal legend for that II ---> A conversion, mad respect, please bless the rest of us!!! (also how you have half an interview, inquiring minds are curious)

I appreciate the kind words, bro!!

That .5 of an interview was with two programs affiliated with UCSF

I was selected to receive an interview for both the main UCSF MD program and the UCSF-UC Berkeley Joint Medical Program (two separate admissions committees). However, my interview performance for the JMP was evaluated based on my performance in the main UCSF MD program interview

So essentially, I received two interview invites, which was combined in one interview day but counted for two acceptances (main UCSF MD program and UCSF-UC Berkeley Joint Medical Program). Was kind of a weird situation, and I should honestly just round it up hahah

But wishing y'all the best of luck w your app cycles!! Y'all got this!!

what is FAP? sorry I am new on here
Yup, what @MrPuff stated - it's the fee assistance program, where basically if your family income is less than 400% of the poverty level given your family size, you can receive a ton of financial benefits (one of which includes free secondary applications to most schools).

If anyone is interested, you have to apply for it through the AAMC, but the benefits do not apply retroactively

rip it seems like they’ve moved past my complete date i was around 7/24 I believe

It might not be in order!!

hopefully not!! I have an (almost) A at a T10/15ish that i love it’s like ~75% post interview acceptance rate and if on Oct 15th if i get in i’m pretty much chilling but Stanford is one of the schools I would consider over it I really really want to go. I’m probably gonna end up putting in an app for Knight-Hennessy soon as well. Too bad it’s one of the hardest schools to get an interview at so I can only hope and pray it works out for us

Stanford really would be the dream

Does everyone get invited to the SUMMA conference and if so, how many people attend? Is it a popular event?

I got that email too. I did talk a lot about diversity and medical humanities/narrative medicine in my application but I doubt they would go that far and email me something on theme with my app. I’m curious if they send this to everyone who applied.
