2024-2025 Tufts

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Thank you! I'm sure you can't be specific, but is the MMI a good mix of ethical and traditional questions?
Well there are traditional interviews and MMI interviews haha, so the traditional ones ask traditional questions, MMI asks MMI style questions

How did you feel about the interview and the interview day?
I really enjoyed it! It was all students and a few faculty doing the MMI and my two 1:1 interviews were really interesting. The faculty one was super conversational, mostly questions about my application and stuff. The student interview was super fun we had a lot of similarities and although she asked more of those ā€œtraditionalā€ questions, it didn’t feel structured or forced. It felt pretty chill compared to what I had built up in my imagination and I left feeling pretty confident!

For those that got in, can you provide some insight on stats like MCAT scores and GPAs? Did they take all the 520s MCAT scores first lol. Also, if anyone knows anyone who has gotten deferred in previous years, is it always a wait until April to hear more information or can you hear back sooner like later this year?
Got an A first day for Boston track with 3.7X GPA and 517 MCAT! Definitely not a gunner app, but loved my interview since it was very conversational and I think had a positive impact on my application as well. Would love to answer any questions

Are you in state? looks like they prefer first round for instate students. Any OOS interview invites yet?

OOS II Boston right now. Submitted 7/8. LM 73
II šŸ™‚!!! OOS, LM 80, complete 7/8!
+1 II, OOS, Complete ?7/15
Lots!!

Does anyone know if the 2 Boston Track interviews are both traditional interviews? Or should I prepare for MMIs as well..

I had low hours for the service activities I used for this prompt, and the one I had the least hours in (<50) I was the most passionate about. I did have 1-2 years commitment and but it only happened once a month. I think they can tell through your writing how impactful an experience is to you. I was really doubting whether they would consider mine substantial but it came up during both interviews in a positive way
@scampi is question 5

Tufts University School of Medicine is committed to social responsibility,

...

equity, or social justice? (Yes/No)

to be answered in 1 word?! or is it implied that Yes should be accompanied by your reasons for answering Yes.

3. Please tell us about your journey to medical school and how your background and experiences will positively impact your future as a medical student and physician

The answer to this question is essentially my Personal Statement so can I simply reproduce it here or state that my Personal Statement answers this question? @scampi please advise šŸ¤”

1. Do you wish to share a specific reason

Okay to say that a close relative chose to attend Tufts over Ivy League medical schools and eventually became a neurosurgeon?
This doesn't explain why you want to attend Tufts. They don't care why your close relative chose to attend Tufts; what matters is why you want to.

You check yes or no, and if yes, you have 1,000 characters to elaborate in essay form.

This is, to some extent, the diversity essay! I would strongly suggest answering this in a different way than your personal statement.

I would strongly suggest that you instead focus on specific aspects of the mission, curriculum, and surrounding area that have drawn you to Tufts!

Props to you for getting started on this secondary so early—I assume you’re applying next year?

For anyone accepted, did ylu have to put down a deposit to accept your seat or did you just have to reply to the offer letter by signing your name? I just wanna make sure i’m doing everything right lol.

I didn’t see anywhere to pay a deposit just to sign. Afterwards the portal reflects the change so I think you’re good!

They’re still reviewing July I think. I was complete early August and nada.

I was DD last year and it took 3 months to hear back after II about DD and then another 3-4 months to hear about WL - I do hope that they're being quicker about it this year but that was many people's experiences last year.

How long before the interview did y’all get your zoom links emailed to you?

I am assuming you got off the WL? Does Tufts take a good chunk of people off the WL? Also, when you hear back if you got off the WL? Sorry for the load of questions lol, appreciate your answers!

Lol I did not unfortunately - I'm in my second cycle now. As far as I could tell they took very few off of the waitlist, maybe a few here and there June on. I was a Maine track interview and I didn't hear of any waitlist --> acceptances for that track, but I don't know the full picture.

Just got an email about regular MD FB page! But would also love a maine one <3 if we don't see one over the next few weeks, we could maybe email them to ask if we can make one?

*edit: they have a fun instagram page to follow too if you aren't already!
I got the email too and I agree about making a Maine one! I love their insta the story takeovers are so fun

how far in advance did those that interviewed get the zoom link emailed to them? my interview is on monday but i haven’t received anything yet
