2024-2025 Wake Forest

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
lol that initial email is so nervewracking for no reason. They do not leak the deicision at all lol
I figured it was more likely an acceptance than a premature “you have no chance to get off our wait list.” Just a little nervewracking still😂

Any others off waitlist hear anything? Even a rejection at this point would at least help me move on!😏I am quite aware as well that waiting until next year is not an option due to plan to do away with Grad Plus loans next year. It’s either this year somewhere, or not at all. No other funding sources. From what I understand, at least if you’re in middle of program, you will be grandfathered in until you complete degree👍🏻

Anyone get a financial aid email referencing the student center portal and a previous email with a temporary password they did not receive?

Wish this school (and others of course) would let us Waitlist Warriors know what is happening and/or give us some closure. It is starting to seem kind of callous to me.

It does seem like WF is spacing out its offerings to waitlist students, perhaps in an attempt to avoid overadmitting. It also seems like there is no longer a set schedule for notifications - students here have reported their A's arriving on mondays, thursdays, and now fridays. Not all hope is lost!

But also PLEASEEEEEEE I need to know whether I have to sign a new lease or find a new job

This is the school that broke my desire to be a doctor once and for all. I don’t even know if what they are doing with DEI is legal anymore but they don’t care I guess. Maybe I will see them again one day, in a different capacity. Maybe they will stop discriminating. No idea but don’t let this place break your heart. They don’t deserve to.

The school is not particularly focused on stats, and values diversity and life experiences heavily.

If you are an OOS high-stat (LM 78+) applicant with no ties to Wake/Winston-Salem/CLT, I honestly wouldn't even bother applying as you will be yield protected.

Did you get a denial of any kind or just no news as all? Don’t give up just yet!!

Nothing still. I am almost worried though anyway because I am not sure how fair access to rotations and residencies actually would be at this school now and whether there is an even playing field at all. I know some people who they took fwiw and it was really shocking to be honest with you. Two wrongs will never make a right and it does not correct injustice. It just foments more. I will leave it at that.

Could you provide a reference for some of these claims or concerns you are voicing? I have no context and don’t know if you are venting or talking about a specific experience or situation.

Yeah @Amoma, what exactly happened? I am in touch with several current medical students/faculty, and I am happy to clarify something if you need.

Just assume I am venting and don’t worry about. Don’t let anyone ever discriminate against you no matter what race or history you have and become a great doctor.

Thanks. You sound like someone who will be a great doctor. You also sound like a very smart person and you know exactly what the deal is but you will play the game anyway and that’s ok too. Sincerely wish you the best.

Wake has 14k people apply for around 200 spots every year; to get this far is already improbable enough. I would not be so quick to blame us not getting in to this one particular school on a skin color when there are probably hundreds of students with stats/life experiences very similar if not the same as us. There is a lot of luck involved. Keep your head up we'll all be ok

I am law school bound now and feeling very positive about the application process for that. After a medical school cycle we are all heroes and the other professional school admissions look easy peasy. All the best to you!

Can any other accepted students (who are going to attend) direct message me about the email migration last Friday? I never received the instruction email and IT just put a ticket in for it with no solution yet. I just want to make sure I am not falling behind as a result.

They should email you with your new email address, the password is the same as the old one.

Still waiting and it has been almost a week. Talked to two others who said they have also not received any migration info about a new address. Did you receive yours?

EDIT: Someone mentioned through direct message they have received theirs in their outlook email.
