To date, no final decision has been made and the Admissions Committee has placed your application on hold for re-review at a later date. Files are re-reviewed by the committee periodically and there is no set schedule for decisions. We do interview from August through March. I have a status that says I am "on hold for re-review at a later date." What does this mean and when will I hear from GW?
Due to the nature of our holistic review process, files will be reviewed multiple times before any decision is made. We have a rolling admissions process; therefore, there is no set schedule for the re-review of your file. While on hold, you remain under active consideration, and your file will be re-reviewed several times. You will be sent information as soon as the Committee on Admissions communicates a change in your status. If any additional documentation is needed, we will contact you immediately. We appreciate your patience during this time.

What can I do while I am on "hold?"
The holistic review process is very thorough and time-consuming. During this time, we encourage you to share your continued interest in our program, new experiences and activities, or anything else you would like to share with the Committee on Admissions through the Application Portal. The Committee does welcome and appreciate these updates, as your file will be re-reviewed several times throughout the "on hold" status period.

So does EVERYONE get placed on hold at some point? I’m a bit confused. Given interviews start in August that wouldn’t make much sense.

mine says the same
 
I submitted August 3rd, and have not seen any changes to the portal.
 
i submitted on 7/31..mine says "Your file is now complete. At this point we have received all the necessary credentials including your secondary application and your letters of recommendation in order for your application to be reviewed. While the committee works diligently to review applications in a timely manner, please be aware that in order to do a thorough review of your file it may be sometime until you hear from us again. We greatly appreciate your patience during the application process. Please feel free to update your file during this time using the GW Admissions Portal."

That is exactly what I have

When did you submit?
 
Mine is on hold too. Is anybody submitting updates? I completed more shadowing and volunteering, should I submit that, or is it too trivial?

Going on hold at George Washington is very common and you can be selected from that hold pool for an interview at any time.
