That is my assumption- I wish they had told us by how many they overloaded the class by this year. There is always the possibility that people who are accepted elsewhere but on the waitlist will drop out as well, making the waitlist # they get to potentially higher than the # of acceptances they pull from the waitlist. I have found this info originally posted by @scottmc in last year's thread useful to kind of gauge what to expect:



"I received an update a month ago that gives some more stats on historic waitlist offers as well as those from this year. Hope this helps out upcoming applicants, as waiting this long as an "eligible" applicant to be softly let down by the stats was disappointing.

There is no dedicated housing for med students. Students will need to find their own housing.

for people who fall under a range and are tied with others on the waitlist, what does that mean if your exact seat isn’t chosen? do they pass over you and come back? is this common?

I am tied 16-17 rn. My best guess is that if the waitlist starts moving and they have, in my case, up to spot 16, then they go back and evaluate the two tied applications again to break the tie, the "winner" gets #16, and the "loser" gets #17. I am curious what puts people into a tied position in the first place tho

I am also in a tied range for 3 spots at 31-33. Assuming they will just revist your application because your application score was tied with the others.

As people on other waitlists get into their other other/more prefered programs it'll probably narrow down to a specific spot.

It sounds like they use a points system, and the applicants have the same number of points. The email says the school will use an internal system to decide who is number X and who is number Y if they offer an acceptance to someone who is tied.

It’s probably just the case that the point value is the same and they don’t want to necessarily do the work of differentiating the applicants unless they have to. And in some cases they might not have to decide , since they would be able to let all of those people in

your number could go down though just based off people withdrawing from the waitlist! it looks like 43 offers were made last year off the waitlist, which is less than i thought it would be previously when they shared the acceptance ratio. I assumed before that the acceptance ratio was only referring to the WL but now it seems it applies to everyone?

So I was looking at previous years waitlist movements on sdn and I saw that it usually goes up to at least 60 ish. Not trying to jinx it but let’s hope lol

2025: Mid 50’s or 60 ish

2024: 69

2023: 60 ish
