So I looking to apply to some of the newly opened med schools this year..
Though I must tread carefully because they seem to only have "preliminary" accreditation..
What does this mean exactly? This is a huge issue if there is a potential turning your MD degree into a worthless paper weight...
What do you guys advise?

Was reading up on Roseman and what it means to have preliminary accreditation. Here’s a SDN link if anyone else is curious.

I haven't heard anything good or bad. First class just started this fall, so not much has happened yet. My sibling went to a school when it had a prelim accreditation (CNU) and so I'm just trying to do my due diligenceI haven’t heard anything negative about the school from first years. You or anyone else?

The only negative thing I read about is several of the admin were formerly a part of FIU when it was labelled as the med school run by "mafia":
Those admin moved from Miami to Dubai and now to Nevada.
Nevertheless, I'd take an II / A in a heartbeat being a low-stat ORM applicant

Wow this is a lot to consider. I have an A to LV’s DO program and my friend goes to KKSOM. I wonder how much this school will affect the DO program’s rotation sites, etc.
I do hope that OPs post isn’t true, but from my own experiences with my family, there’s level of skepticism I carry with new programs.

Thank you for this. I definitely agree on the II/A thing but also keeping my eyes open.
What are some can’t miss questions to ask them when we interview? I wrote down ones about asking about rotation sites, grading systems, and how they envision my next four years being there before they go up for accreditation.
Another question is, would it be risky to ask if they have a plan for accepted students IF they don’t get their accreditation for any reason. My sibling didn’t consider this when CNU went on probation and it wasn’t clear if they were going to get their accreditation. But, CNU had something like a rehoming program. I may want to save this for after I secure the A because it can come off negative. Wanted to hear your guys’s perspectives

I'd personally avoid asking anything regarding accreditation until after securing the A
Additionally, take everything I reposted above with a grain of salt.

Hey guys! I'm one of the M1s here at Roseman, completely forgot about SDN but figured I'd offer to answer questions or anything.
Thank you so much. Feel free to answer here or DMs.Hey guys! I'm one of the M1s here at Roseman, completely forgot about SDN but figured I'd offer to answer questions or anything.
1. What do you like about the school?
2. Is there ever any free time to just gather and explore the Vegas area?
3. What could be better?
4. Are lectures mandatory and are they recorded or pre-recorded?
1. I like our assessment format tbh, I know some schools have a crazy amount of exams. We have weekly quizzes on Friday's that aren’t too crazy. Some of my classmates dislike it, but I think the quizzes are fair and not too bad. We then have monthly exams (3 in the same day: NBME, an in house exam, and an in house exam focused on clinical skills. Also, we have “clinical focus weeks” interspersed throughout preclinical, which are rly nice cus all we do is practice some skills like physical exams, and they r chill weeks that lets us catch up or take a breath of air.Thank you so much. Feel free to answer here or DMs.

2. I think so, kinda depends on the person tho, and how hard school hits u. I was a bit sleep deprived the first month, but I’m in a rhythm now and feel like the info has been manageable. It’s definitely a grind, but I honestly don’t think it’s too hard.
3. Wish we had more research here, and ur not allowed to start research until ur second half of MS1.
4. Depends on what you consider a lecture. True lectures are recorded and optional, but they have mandatory active engagement and case based learning sessions, that sometimes occur Monday-Friday, so you still have to show up for at least an hour per day sometimes. Also, some of them end up just being lectures tbh.
That was an amazing experience. Let's get this A!
This was awesome info! I’m really digging this school post interview. Plus their schedule of exams seems nice.1. I like our assessment format tbh, I know some schools have a crazy amount of exams. It’s still so early, I’d say yes. They seem to be the type to do secondary and II wave send outs.Is there still a chance for a secondary?
Anyone who has taken the interview, how was your experience? Was it more mmi style or traditional questions? Is it one on one or panel style?
Also I attended info session on sept 22, nd have the interview on oct 7th but haven’t gotten my interview link or email with the zoom link yet, when will they send that?

Definitely more conversational. Definitely can't say anything because of the confidentiality, but DO NOT stress. At least that's how it was for my 2 interviews.Anyone who has taken the interview, how was your experience? Was it more mmi style or traditional questions? Is it one on one or panel style?

I didn't get anything about it just yetFor those with acceptances, did you receive any information regarding financial aid or if you were awarded a scholarship in your acceptance letter or do we get notified of that in a separate email down the line?
