Still waiting on a II for the Seattle Cohort. Am I screwed? I thought I had a great app: high MCAT/GPA, T5 Ivy undergraduate, several research pubs, LOR from UW professor, from rural eastern WA with significant WA ties, doing research at Seattle Childrens rn. I've had other T20 interviews and even an A already so I don't think there's anything wrong with my app/writing, but UWSOM is my top choice because my spouse works at MSFT and we want to stay in the area. They don't accept update letters right? Should I be panicking at this point? No idea what I could have done better
Update, just got a pre-II R Seattle cohort. Feeling super down and honestly pretty surprised that I didn't get at least an interview. Not sure what else I could do to fit the mission better, and I have seen lots of people reporting II's and A's with significantly lower metrics than mine. Looks like because I have other MD A's I cannot ask for a file review; does anyone think it might be worth it to ask for one anyway? Anyway, good luck to y'all still waiting on a decision, guess I'm leaving WA next year!

Just my 2c.

The process is super random. I thought I was a much better fit for WSU and haven’t heard a peep from them, but had a pretty early II from UW.

I know it sucks to not end up where you hoped to, but I’m not sure what you would really hope to get out of a file review. You have an acceptance and won’t be applying next year. If it were me I would leave the resource for people without As at the end of the cycle.

Congrats on the acceptances and best of luck!

Does anyone have any insight on a second re-interview? I understand its a divergence of opinions but anyone have good outcomes from that? Got SUC'd after the second interview.
Do you mean asking them for a re-interview? My understanding is that you really should only do this if something went wrong (think severe technical issues, inappropriate interviewer conduct, etc). I’m not even sure you can do it after they’ve given you a status.

Also SUC is not a bad place to be. It just means no decision yet. It honestly seems like the modal outcome post-II at this point in the cycle.

Nope, I meant they called me back for a second interview. Edit: just had second interview recently! Placed on SUC after a few those interviewed same day as me got the R 🙁
I think if you didn’t get an R after your re-interview you must have cleared up any concerns from the diverging opinions.

Do y’all think there will be another round of interview invites for the Seattle cohort? Or do you think it’s too close already to the last interview date in December?

Sincerely, a failed Montana residency appeal holding on to hope as a now completed OOR secondary 10/18

Has anyone gotten the email to schedule for UW Spokane Dec2-4. I got my invite quite a bit ago and still waiting

edit: can't spell to save my life, lol. I got my scheduling email about two weeks before my interview if that is any reference 🙂

Interviewing this upcoming week. To those who already interviewed, can you please provide tips to prepare for the interview and how to approach it? Is there anything that you wish you did differently? Thank you so much!

There are way more health policy questions on the interview prep site than I felt was needed. Maybe you will get different interview questions but mine were all standard.

It’s a pretty straightforward process. The interviewers will rotate through asking you questions. Know your app and be yourself.

To that end. My experience is health policy heavy so I did get some nuanced questions on it, but it was awesome. If you have some level of expertise shown on your application, be ready to explain or defend challenging topics in it. But that should be kind of a no brainer imo.

My most challenging and most interesting interview yet. I was impressed.

Not really a tip but just wanted to prep your expectations and say that the whole thing went by WAY faster than I expected and than any other interview -- 30 minutes is not a ton of time! They only have enough time to ask 8ish questions, so expect that there will be things you wish you had gotten to talk about that you didn't get the chance to. My interviewers were quite friendly but did not give any affirmative reactions/responses, and I've heard from med students previously on the adcom that they are trained to not provide reactions. Don't let that rattle you!

Generic answer, but be yourself and recognize that they want to interview you for a reason. Other than that, just wanted to say good luck!!

What kinds of health policy questions should I be prepared for? Also interviewing this week!

The webpage they give applicants is good, if not too detailed.

Also, for any school, I’d be ready to talk about Medicaid and ACA subsidy cuts.

Interviewing in Dec - Seattle cohort! Feeling amazing and thankful. I am in-state but UWSOM is so competitive I have been second-guessing myself the whole time.

wondering if today will be another day of decisions for seattle cohort. fingers crossed!

I received a really detailed email about me still being considered for both CUSP and the regular MD cohort. Would that be a sign for anything?

When do we think Uw Spokane people who interviewed 11/10 will hear back?

I interviewed 11/10 and got continuing consideration on the 17th! I think a couple of other people have also gotten CC emails! Haven’t heard of any A’s or R’s yet tho.

Yes I got this too! I’m just curious when they will give actual decisions!
