Does anyone know if all committees have the same number of interviewees? Seems like a lot of people are interviewing via the Valor committee.
I am wondering the same thing. I got an interview with Spirit committee but haven't read anyone mention Spirit yet.

Anything fun to do in the area or places to eat? :)
Lots of places to eat! If you like BBQ, you're in luck: Mike and Ed's, Jim n' Nicks, Byron's, Moe's Original (unfortunately BBQ House- the true Auburn classic, just closed this last summer:cryi:). If you want a good brunch- I definitely suggest The Hound! You of course need to stop by Toomer's Corner in downtown Auburn and get some lemonade and check out our new oaks! Auburn is literally "rooted"in tradition. After any football victories and most major sport victories the oaks at Toomer's corner are rolled with toilet paper. Another fun fact: the names of the interview committees, 'Nova', 'Spirit', and 'Valor', are the names of our "war eagles" that fly Jordan-Hare stadium before football games! I may be slightly biased, but I think that the tradition of flying the eagles before the games is one of the most unique college traditions in the country.

Overall the Auburn main campus is truly beautiful, lots of historic buildings such as Samford Hall. Just take a look around the whole campus and town- I love it here!

I am also interviewing with Spirit. I would love to know the relevance of the committees.

I'm interviewing with Spirit as well. It looked like the different committees had different interviewers, so maybe that's the only difference?

Have any IS potential vet students gotten an email regarding them being "coded" for out-of-state transcripts, classes, or an address in the past? I have NEVER taken classes out of state, lived out of state, nor have I ever taken any tests out of state. I have no earthly idea why I was coded and have yet to get anyone on the phone that can answer my questions..beyond frustrated with Auburn at the moment.

I just got an email saying that I needed to verify my Alabama residency and to contact the registrar's office. I hope you get your situation sorted out! It sounds like a mistake to me.

Does anyone know how many people Auburn interviews?

Has anyone else still not received anything? I haven't gotten an interview nor a rejection notification. I emailed them to make sure my notification wasn't lost in transaction or something and they told me to just keep checking my email.

I haven't gotten anything either. I think I'm just going to call but I haven't been able to call at a decent time yet because of work

They seemed a bit annoyed when I asked about my status. They told me to just keep checking my email! :(

I received an interview invite today! So strange that it it took this long to get to me. I'm guessing I was originally on the waitlist for an interview and someone declined the interview and I was next in line, so those who haven't heard anything yet either, there is still hope!

Does anyone know if they require fall transcripts to be sent? I took animal nutrition and Biochem this past fall semester.

For in state students they want fall transcripts to be sent, but I'm not sure for OOS.

Do you know if all IS apps are interviewed or not? My veterinarian graduated from auburn 3 or 4 yrs ago and said that all 1st time IS applicants receive an interview.

Last year there were ~10 IS that did not receive an interview (apparently.. don't quote me on that!)

Interview invites went out but you may be waitlisted for an interview which is why you haven't heard anything!
I wish I would have read this before I called this morning!

But yes, admissions let me know they're going down a list to see if they want to interview more applicants and to just keep an eye out on our emails.

I just hope they let us know this week! The wait is killer lol

What number did you call? They emailed me in November asking me about a prerequisite but then they never responded to my email, so I sent another that they didn't respond to, and called and left a voicemail with no answer. I still don't know if I need to enroll in another class or not because I haven't gotten a rejection or an interview and they never responded to me.

I called +1 (334) 844-4546. I hope they respond to you soon.:)

I wish they'd send an email out. At least letting those who haven't received a rejection or invite know that they're on a wait list. I still haven't heard from them.

Congrats to those of you that have interviews! I'm a current 1st year from KY and would love to answer any questions that y'all have during the next week. Once classes start back I probably won't be on here.

Hey, H&H! I have a few questions.

What type of hands-on opportunities do you have as a first year and so on? (Teaching hospital jobs/shadowing, club involvement, etc.)

Do students get a discount for pet services and preventatives through the teaching hospital?

What was the biggest adjustment for you your first year, and how did you overcome it?

What is your favorite thing about the school?

Thanks for being here for us.

First years are allowed to shadow in the teaching hospital with the permission of an attending vet. For example, one of our professors is an equine internal med specialist and I asked her to let me shadow one afternoon. Our classes first semester do not allow us to have hands on experience (unless you count the cadaver for anatomy). However, some clubs do. I was involved with the emergency club which allowed me to shadow in the ICU and the therio club which had mare palpation labs. Next semester we have a physical diagnosis class.

We do get a discount for hospital services (I think its around 15%). Pet food is at cost thru a few companies. Hills is one of the companies and they actually deliver it free to the school. Some companies have student reps that hand out free products.

The biggest adjustment was being so far from home for such a long time. I also own my trailer so when things go wrong (i.e. needed a new fridge and washing machine) I have to figure out what to do. In addition, all of us had to figure out how to study and how to balance our lives. I still workout 6 days a week. Other students take 30 minutes or so a day to nap or watch tv. You can't study the entire time you are out of class. Take advantage of the counselor at the school.

I love that we have new facilities, the professors are more than willing to help us understand the material, and everyone is so nice. Even the clinicians are willing to answer questions and to help with clubs. Everyone is awesome.

Thank you so much for answering! I've been wondering about these things so it's great to have the opportunity to ask a student. I'm even more excited than before!

Hi all,

I haven't been able to find anything on sending fall transcripts to auburn. Has anyone sent theirs? Or do we wait and send them if they request them? I took some prereqs in the fall, so I'd assume they want those transcripts. I tried to call the school and haven't gotten a response.

Thanks!

Laura

For IS, we send ours to Auburn as soon as possible. They said we can send unofficial ones by e-mail. I would call admissions if you are OOS to find out what you need to do.

I'm OOS and giving up my interview spot as of today! Good luck to all of you!

Check your email, I just got one addressing this!

So bummed I can't make any of the tours! Everything for me is already scheduled flight-wise and my interview is at 10:30 so I won't be able to make either 10am or 3pm

You could probably still see part of the campus. The best tours are at open house. Otherwise you don't really get to see everything.

Does anyone know the typical interview format? I know it's 30 minutes and similar to a job interview, but aside from that ?

You go into one of the small classrooms and 3 people interview you. When I interviewed, everyone waited in a room (they'll let you know which one) and someone from the admissions office talked about finances. One of our interviewers came to get us from that room and took us back for our interview. When we were done we could leave or return to learn about finances/ go on a tour.

Is there an orientation or anything in the morning before interviews? My interview is at 10 and was trying to plan when I need to be in Auburn.

There wasn't last year. Just the optional tours and financial discussion.
