Any news guys? I've been checking my mailbox and email every day but nothing yet!
Keeping my fingers crossed, for me and for the all the other atlantic applicants on here! Oh and the international applicants too 😀

I heard interview letters went out yesterday.

No news for me (international) ....

I haven't heard anything either (also international). trying not to go too crazy...I keep alternating between being hopeful and thinking that all the accepted have already been notified and the fact that I haven't heard anything isn't good...but who knows!
Good luck everyone!!!

Does anyone know if you should send a thank you letter after an interview? I am freaking out because I forgot to... So caught up in checking my email instead eeeekk!

Dr. Sims told us don't bother. They don't remember you. Disheartening in some aspects, but hey at least they aren't sitting there going "oh this one didn't send us a letter, slacker!" 😀

I wouldn't stress about it.

Anyone get any news yet? I got my official letter yesterday, so I would imagine you guys would be hearing soon :xf:

Can you find out where on the wait list you are? I know it tends to move quickly 🙁

Did you find out about the waitlist via email? I haven't heard anything at all. I'm assuming I've been rejected since it appears all the other stuff has gone out.

Yay, my rejection letter didn't come today. I can relax this weekend.

Nope, snail mail. Don't assume that you've been rejected!

My source was incorrect. Letters went out yesterday not Monday.

Hoping the waitlist moves quickly so we can have more SDNers in the class!

Have they started sending interview invites out to the Canadian applicants yet? It's weird to me how they fill the international seats first.

Interview letters went out Friday. So there should be plenty of updates shortly.

Crossing my fingers for all Canadian applicants!!! Also, stay hopeful my fellow waitlisters, we're not out of the running yet! If anyone has past if present waitlist information keep us posted! Internationals: when is the deadline for confirming attendance in the states? I'm guessing some movement will occur after that.

One more quick question: For those of you internationals that were accepted to PEI, what is the deadline for you to confirm you are attending? I'm hoping some NON-sdn people will decline and some of us can scoot into the class at that point too! 🙂

Best wishes!!!

The deadline for accepting your seat is April 15th, same as for the U.S. schools. The wait list will definitely move after that, so hang in there!

Speaking of which, does anyone know if there's someone you can call to confirm that your deposit was received? It took my bank an entire hour to figure out how to do a wire transfer to UPEI, so I'm a little concerned that they may have screwed it up. 🙄

Have any internationals thought about how you plan to move your things? I've looked at a few ways, but it seems like its going to be trés expensive! 😱

Hoping for a furnished apartment. There are a few of them out there. :xf:

Baring that, I'll probably just try to find cheap furniture and stuff when I get there. The furniture at my current apartment is going to my bedroom at my mom's house and I really don't like the idea of trucking it all to Canada. It won't be the first time I've slept on the floor in an unfurnished apartment.

Interview invites hit Halifax today. One person on my Facebook received an invite.

I really don't want to check my mail. I am trying hard not to be anxious but it's not working :/

I'm hoping letters will get to New Brunswick tomorrow! Everyone at my school in Nova Scotia got their letters so I kind of regret using my home mailing address haha

Good luck Trematode, hoping good news reaches you soon. Which province are you from?

Nova Scotia. Which is why I know I am getting my third rejection, haha. I don't want the boyfriend to see it or to see me upset.

I tore it up and threw it in the laundry room garbage 😛

Older years often post furniture for sale so it shouldn't be too hard to find cheap furniture. And I love that my place comes furnished - soo convenient.

. . . did you make sure it was actually a rejection first?

Of course. I didn't stop to smell the roses though. I just looked for "you have not been selected".

People keep telling me to be positive and that I don't know what the future holds. I am a NS resident with an 80 average and a GRE in the 44th percentile. I knew what was coming. It's okay though. I know what I have to do (sitting around and praying that half if the applicant pool have lower averages than mine and not doing anything to improve myself is not one of them). I feel like my extracurriculars are awesome and my vet/animal hours are good. I just hope I get in before the majority of it expires.

First year I cried and hid it in the paper recycling.

I cannot remember what the I did second year. I think I got drunk.

This year, I ripped it up. Then I went and said hello to the new rats that I took in from a horrible situation. Watched them eat blackberries, parsley and spinach for likely the first time. Tonight I'll try to take out any remaining disappointment in my personal training appointment.

I just wish it was worthwhile for me to go to school in the fall. I miss it. I have to wait a whole other year until it is worth it (which is when my courses start to expire).

I'm sorry to hear that Trematode. Is there anyway you can change your residency by moving to a different province? The Canadian intern I work with was able to do that after she was rejected twice, but maybe her situation was a lot different.

I applied for work in New Brunswick and PEI in March and at the end of the summer, in my field or the veterinary field. There was barely anything and I never heard back from the places I applied.

I guess it doesn't hurt to start looking again.

My debt load is not pretty though. I'd have to find like a zillion roommates and get one of them to drive me around haha.

Interview for May 21st! Hopefully this will be my year. I drastically improved my GRE and gave a little bump in my GPA.

I'm sorry to hear Trem. If it's any consolation it was a huge year for both NS and PEI residents who had 72 and 40 applicants respectively. It's a horrible year for PEI residents as well, which is something you would have never thought. Maybe the changes to the admissions process next year will help you out.

According to John, the academic portion will not change to his knowledge.

After doing some research today I have adopted your plan, BlackDog. I found an apartment already, but it's unfurnished. It's going to cost me 2 to 3 THOUSAND dollars to bring my things up 😱 I could furnish an apartment for a fraction of that. I have also decided that I would be cheaper to purchase a bird cage rather than truck the one we have up, so a new house it is for my bird too! Then we can visit home without worrying about where to put him.

Congrats to everyone getting interviews!! 🙂 And my sympathies to those who are hearing otherwise 🙁

I was also nervous about the wire transfer but I emailed Sharon King and she was able to confirm that they received my deposit so I would suggest trying that 🙂

Congrats LabRat!! 😀 I am still waiting for my letter to arrive. Hopefully it will be in my mailbox tonight when I get off work! :luck:

Congrats LabRat!!! SO happy for you 🙂

Yay Congrats LabRat!!! 😀

Anyone from NB get a letter yet? I still haven't gotten anything 🙁

Interviewing May 30th!! 😀 Good luck everyone! :luck:

Ellie I am routing for you as much as I'm routing for myself. We were both wait listed last year and this might just be the year we get something better. Good luck! I want us to be classmates in the fall.

Congratulations to everyone with interviews so far! And good luck! It would be great if we could have a big group of SDNers in our class!

TooLove, how on earth did you find an apartment so fast? I've been looking for the past week or so, but most of the listings I've found are either already rented or only for the summer. But there's still plenty of time, so I'm not worrying about it too much yet.

I'm wondering the same thing! A couple of the places I emailed told me availability for August wouldn't be listed until the first week of July. Any advice TooLove?

I am an eager beaver 😀

I looked on kijiji under places for rent in Charlottetown. Any place I liked I would respond to the ad saying I would be moving to the area as a vet student in August and asked if there would be any availability for that time frame. A lot of people who advertise have more than one property and had some that would be available in August. A lot of people told me to email them in July for availability though too. I just knew they I wanted to find a place ASAP because I wanted a 1 bedroom ground floor pets allowed place. Just keep looking. I got what I consider to be a good deal five minutes walk from AVC and all bills included so I'm pretty happy. My only issues have been do I bring furniture up or move first and then furnish, and I need to find a large parrot cage! I called the PetSmart in Charlottetown and they won't let me ship one to the store from online...boo.

I guess it would be too soon to ask if any internationals have a moving date set yet? 😀

Kinda-sorta. Already had my mom book our hotel for moving and the blue coat ceremony, but I can't remember exactly what date we're going up. I made her book super early because I was worried with it still being tourist season everything could fill up quickly.
