Class of 2017.... how you doin?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The Internet guy is coming between 11 and 1 today. My mother has graciously volunteered to go hang out at my apt to let him in and show him where I want the modem so I can stay at work. What can go wrong, right? All that needs to happen is the guy comes in, sets it up and leaves. That shouldn't be too hard. Yet, I have this sneaky feeling that I won't have Internet when I get home......:scared:

On a side note, not sure why my phone capitalizes Internet? 😕

I should probably get my butt in gear and actually order some books. Creeping the textbook threads has been pretty fun though. 😀

Your move-in delay really sucks, BD. I probably would have thrown a fit.

Well . . . I am.

Actually, I'm doing my best to internalize it and wait and see how things go. But since part of the agreement for me to rent the place includes letting them use my living room/kitchen to serve cookies and hot chocolate to their sleigh ride customers in December-February/March . . . I'm thinking the complete and total lack of consideration for the inconvenience they're causing me is a REALLY bad sign of things to come. :scared:

Fortunately I may already have a backup plan in place. :xf: We'll see how things go when I arrive.

I'm still on the fence about Facebook. I deleted mine a while ago because I never got on FB anymore and I didn't like how it made me feel when I did. OTOH, apparently that's how my classmates communicate. I REALLY do not want to get on, but I also don't want to exclude myself from knowing about anything.

Ah so that was you at the spay day... tried to creep on you via the class page afterward and was a little perplexed when your name didn't pop up.

Even the most stalwart anti-facebook people have ended up getting one in my class, just because there is a LOT of info posted on your class page.

Good for you. I don't think I could handle it. I'm hoping things turn out well for you. :xf:

Also, I think you're correct that this is a bad sign when considering the cookies/hot chocolate arrangement.....:uhno:

Room is almost done being unpacked. I need to stop going to Target

Same. Except that I really really need to get a nightstand so that I'll have someplace to put my glasses at night, and I need to go return the thing I got to be a nightstand since it turned out to be too small.

I need and want some decorative things and storage/cute organization things

Go to Wayfair.com for cute storage things they have stuff like that on their major sale rotations and most stuff ships to you for free.

Finally got my butt in gear and the bedroom is 95% unpacked! I just need some underbed storage boxes for our winter clothing to go into. Eventually my goal is to not have to rotate my summer/winter stuff by getting rid of the excess clothing I know I have but since I'm just now changing from a biz wardrobe 5 days a week to a casual wardrobe 7 days a week, I'm loathe to get rid of something I might end of wanting to wear. 🙄

Tomorrow my goal is to at least start on the office. We need to stop by home depot and get the stuff for a second desk and buy some bookshelves. Fingers crossed I can keep this momentum going! :xf:

Between having to push my move-in date back a day, worrying about whether my living situation will work out, problems with my loans, dealing with a million little issues that OF COURSE cropped up right before I leave, and stressing about how I'm going to fit everything in my car IF I ever manage to finish packing, and I am more than ready to throw the towel in and get a job at McDonald's instead of going to vet school. Is it too late to defer a year? Or maybe two? 🙄

I am so glad I'm not the only one. Don't worry neighbor, it will all work out! 🙂

I'm getting more and more excited with each passing day. 😀 I've been talking with a couple friends, one going into 2nd year and one into 3rd and they're telling me to enjoy freedom and that studying sucks...and I know that I'll feel that way in a short while....I'm trying to enjoy the excitement and happiness while it lasts I suppose.

Orientation starts 2 weeks tomorrow! :soexcited:

So we got back from our VET orientation yesterday, wow what a blast!! We went to a camp out on a huge lake and it was just the most fantastic thing ever. You really get to know your classmates and build friendships while working in teams and having a great time. I can't wait for class to star, though I am a bit terrified.
My loans also came through while we were gone and I finally was able to order an iPad, woot!

Day one of four days of orientation down. It was a total 😴 All that paperwork and don't cheat stuff...

That's what mine was like 🙄 I had to do a plagiarism and copyright tutorial too. They really make us paranoid about that stuff here.
On the bright side, I did get the dog I'll be dissecting! Her name is Pickles and my group and I have been dissecting her scapulohumeral joint and we've so far exposed and identified her deltoids and all four heads of her triceps, plus the biceps brachii. It's too exciting!

Got back from our 4 day orientation on Wed. I went to sleep at 9:30 that night and slept for 13 hours. It was amazing. So friggin tired though. But KPow and I were in the same group and bonded! Woot! It was actually a really great way to meet classmates, albeit exhausting as all get up. Thankfully the rules and regulations part of orientation was online and we could do it at our leisure.

Classes start on Monday. I wish I had another week to relax, but such is life. Still running one million errands even though I've been here for 2 weeks. Don't think school is going to make that any easier.

You know, I was thinking on the bus ride home that I don't think I ever actually met you, there. We are friends on fb, but I never did see you! Too bad, but we still have plenty of time for that.

I move to Canada tomorrow! :scared:😱:scared:😱:scared:

Fortunately I've been so busy with packing and last minute errands that I haven't had time to think. Otherwise I'd probably be going nuts.

Decided to get started loading the cars early today and surprisingly the majority of my stuff fits in my mom's car alone. Almost all of the big boxes are in there and there's still room for a couple more. Haven't even started putting things in my truck yet. HUGE relief because I was seriously afraid that it wouldn't all fit!

You're right! I think I saw you in passing once, but that was it.

Good luck on the trip :luck:

Well I just finished my first week! It was all orientation, so we were just learning about each other and the school. Now it's time to start getting into the nitty gritty.
We had our white coat ceremony tonight and it was really fun 🙂

If you changed your address, the USPS will send you a bunch of coupons. Mine had Wayfair coupons. FYI

Just finished first partial week of classes. Intense.

I just finished downloading powerpoints and organizing them and putting them on my google drive. I never put this much work into undergrad, but I know if I don't get started with good habits now, I'll regret it. Not so hard to keep up once everything has been set up into folders for ease of finding everything. 🙂

Also, on a techie note, I went and got a Samsung Galaxy Note 8. It is completely AWESOME! I have all my dyce, evan's, pasquini, etc on google drive and have them available to open on it. Also super easy to put up the powerpoints and draw, write notes and such. Good stuff.

I must get my butt over to the student center today for my ID though. Detail details...

Yay, I have the 10.1! I am totally not techy so u might have to show me how to do stuff with this thing.
Wish I would have known you didn't have your id. I went thurs over lunch. It is in the math science building, not the student union like when I was in undergrad, haha.

I almost went Thurs! Then I got told that it was over the hills and through the woods, so I said forget it and went home since my mum was still in town for a bit. They are open till 2 today, so I must get on it here soon.

Lupin, did you get e-versions when you bought your texts?

I used these sites:

http://veterinarybookslab.blogspot.com/

http://www.vetcvas.com/

I used the first one for most of them. You must have patience to use either of these and be savvy in getting through the ads to get to the actual download. You must also have an unzip and/or converter to get to a useable version of the larger books. PM me if you have issues and I will try to help.

Will you be there early on Monday. HRL = unsavvy and will probably need help!

Just changed my title to vet student. 😀 I think that being moved in and gotten my stuff from the bookstore and having done our first leadership training part of orientation, it's appropriate.

Ooo I forgot about that! Just did, too. I'm thinking it's acceptable since we've had our white coat ceremony and first day of classes are only a few hours away!

Had camp last Wednesday and Thursday, welcome and white coat ceremony on Friday, orientation tomorrow and Tuesday, then classes! Oh, and I got moved in this weekend. Mostly anyway 🙄

Excited and nervous for classes to start, a lot of nervous with a little bit of excited.
