Class of 2017.... how you doin?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We've had two earthquakes here in less than 24 hours. The first was a 5.1 and now we had a 4.3. I can't wait to get out of California!

I haven't read the Divergent series yet, but Hunger Games did the same thing to me. Loved the first two books, but it felt like she gave up half way through Mockingjay. She set a ton of great stuff up, and then just kind of quit on it.

I felt like that about Hunger Games too. Loved the first book and read it in one night. The second book started off well, but I feel like she started to drop off halfway through that one. The 3rd book was almost a struggle to read, I just wanted to know the ending.

Do not want to start class back up again tomorrow. Spring break didn't feel nearly long enough.

First week back was a real PITA. Motivation has flown. Hopefully you don't have a crazy test filled week like we did post break. It did not go well for most of us. This week isn't looking much better. I am just ready to be done with first year already. My crankiness level keeps exceeding where I thought my limit was.

My motivation to study today is secretly lacking. We have two exams this week and our equine clinical skills practical. Blah

This week is our final anatomy final. After Wednesday I will be done with anatomy forever but right now I am crazy stressing out about it.

Also, I didn't like Divergent's ending either. It seemed unnecessary and just done to pull at emotions.

Judging by the way this "spring" is looking, we'll be in make-up lectures/labs until June. :meh:

First day at school on Crutches... These things are freaking exhausting! I hope I can get off these things ASAP!

Why is SDN changing my I's to me's ?!? ive clicked on edit post but the box that pops up has "I hope I can" but when I press save it shows " me hope me can" WTF?

ETA: and it did it again in this post too...this cannot be real.. Must be an April 1st trick

Just been feeling so not myself these past few days... I kinda feel like bursting into tears for no specific reason and going home and curling up in my bed to sleep. But no. I have to finish a presentation for tomorrow. The sad part is it's not even school getting to me. It's freaking out that I don't have enough stuff planned for my summer yet. And getting jealous of everyone who does... even though it's my own damn fault for not applying for things. I always do that to myself. Have great plans and don't follow through. Bleh... I just need a vacation from worrying about things for a few days so I can clear my head...

Starting to wonder why I bothered waking up and scraping 6+ inches of snow off my car and exercising my antilock breaks to come in for a short day of class that I'm not even paying attention to. Then our professor said there would be a puppy coming in for a demonstration in the next hour. I'm sold.

I cannot wait to get out of this semester. I've made the mistake of going over to the teaching hospital and enjoying myself more as opposed to sticking to the cramming for endless exams and stuffed classrooms full of people who never stop sneezing, coughing, whispering loudly, thus killing my tolerance levels for the early years of vet school. I am doing my best to maintain my good grades so I have the chance at any opportunity that I may eventually decide on, but man, it is taking a few more trips to Brown's Bottle Shop to get through this.

Feeling very meh this week. I hope I can muster up some motivation to truck through finals. It's too early in the game to get burnt out. :meh:

I thought I hated last semester until this semester. Last semester was a breeze! Just a few more weeks!

Open House all day tomorrow! I will be teaching ~2100 kids to do a physical exam, using stuffed animals at the booth I'm running. Not a huge fan of kids, so this should be super interesting.

Our open house is tomorrow too! I'm bringing my rats to the children's room in the morning, and doing a theriogenology educational display in the afternoon!

I'm not a huge fan of children in general myself, but I actually really enjoying teaching/showing kids stuff at open house 🙂 Hope it goes well!

I don't like kids much either but I did teddy bear surgery day last summer with our surgery club and that was a blast. All the little kids were so excited for us to dress them up so they could assist us and run 'anesthesia' while we sewed their ripped stuffed animals back up.

Our open house is next weekend. I've volunteering in the SCAVMA booth. I kinda wish I had trained my kitten well enough in a harness to bring him.

That's adorable.

It was okay! There were 4000+ kids and some of them had AMAZING questions. One, couldn't have been older than 6 or 7 asked me what happens to the other kidney when one goes into renal failure. I couldn't believe she knew what "renal" meant. Our club usually brings in $500 from selling stuffed animals and teaching kids how to do a physical exam on them but one of the booths just gave stuffed animals away this year... Kind of frustrating, but at least we gave the kids some good information and answered the questions they had!

Anyone have any good resources or tips and tricks for reading an ECG? I haven't felt this lost since I got to vet school 🙁

I have officially lost all motivation to study. Immunology test is on Thursday--maybe I can find some cares before then.

Ours is at 7am tomorrow and I can feel my motivation flying out the window... Just 2.5 more lectures to get through. Only about 70ish slides... manageable, right? -gulp-

Totally doable. You got this! If you could send some motivation my way after your test that'd be fantastic. I think tonight I'm going to marathon ugly betty and play that 2048 game that someone posted here awhile ago.

lol, I spent midterms marathoning Ugly Betty. For finals it's House. 😛

1) That show is amazing.

2) That game was invented by the devil. But I still love it.
