It must be somewhat regional, because I have never in my life encountered chili without beans, and the idea of it is sacrilegious. 😛

I prefer chili with beans, but I wouldn't refuse chili without. My mom makes it with beans, but I've seen/had it both ways.

I'm with LIS and DVMD here...and this is definitely a debate that happens in real life.

It isn't really a debate. There are those of us that are right, and then there is everyone else. Debate implies some level of potential correctness on either side.

So, how does Cincinnati chili fit in? Because, you don't have to get it with beans. But, you can get it with beans. BUT, and this is the best part, it has a secret ingredient that may be cinnamon, or it may be cocoa powder. Who knows?
