Class of 2020... how you doin?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
definitely recommend doing it while you're a student. Came in handy for me as my practice is working towards fear free certification and I already had it. If you read the transcripts rather than just listen to the videos, you can reduce the amount of time it takes
Oh yeah I definitely just read the transcripts

t hit me yesterday that I completely forgot that the USDA modules were a thing, so, I should probably work on those too. Less than two months left to get them done and there are so so many.
If you Google some of the questions, some noble hero made a massive Quizlet that I found once.

Our swine unit in AgMed is all online here and self paced. It’s due Friday and I’ve done... 1/7 modules. Have about 10 hours of lecture, six quizzes and a final to do in the next five days  why do I hate myself
Our swine lectures were also all online! Our normal professor still played the recordings in the lecture hall during our normal class time, but I definitely either didn't go or didn't pay attention to any of them. We didn't have to do any quizzes though, just the in-class final.

I told myself I was going to stick to the weekly schedule our public health professor made for the USDA modules, that didn't happen. But I'm only about 2 weeks behind, so not terrible!

2019, 2021, and 2022 all had recent updates to their threads and we didn't. That can't be allowed.

Anyway I'm drowning again. 5 exams and a lecture/presentation stand between me and spring break. One of the exams is tomorrow and all I know is you really don't want to have pemphigus vulgaris.

I have two more. Ag Derm tomorrow and then ophtho Monday. I know very little of many things. I should have probably studied more for tomorrow. Or like, at all  I took out at home swine test today and it took me like three hours and that killed all remaining motivation.

Less than two months until clinics. How the **** has time gone so fast.

Survived my large animal surgery midterm today, but I've barely started studying for equine med on Tuesday. One more week until spring break, and we're halfway done with the semester as of today!

I wrote my midterm and then forgot that the quiz after it was a thing and skipped it. Whoops!
(in my defense I went to the doctor... I have a high fever and no voice)

Hey @Squeaksmom - just noticed the "assessment week" thing in your rotation schedule in your signature. What is that?

It's when we are all back at the school and the profs essentially judge our skills and knowledge. The first assessment week we write a mock exam that's sort of a script-concordance navle, then we write the real thing in the second assessment week. This is on top of having to write the navle in December haha. I'm in the same class as Squeaks 😉

We also have to present on a case we saw while out on rotation in front of all the profs 😕

By which you mean literally the whole school.... (it's mandatory for all students to attend as well as all the faculty being there)

I applied to ceezad, and I really hope I get accepted for it

Put in a good word for me @Frozenshades !

Warning. Do not allow this dangerous individual on campus.

But I'm not involved with CEEZAD so it's kinda outta my realm. Hope you get it though! Hopefully they won't make you wait too long

Rescuing this from the second page because

I CUT OPEN A COW TODAY

Then I felt all her organs. And found her frowny face pylorus. And held her kidney. And liver. And a bunch of other exciting things.

AND THEN I PUT HER BACK TOGETHER

#bestdayever
I get really excited about cows so this was basically the best thing ever

Yooooo we have something like this too. Present a case from clinical in front of professors but also add in your classmates, and underclassmen that have to attend for credit :meh:

Shhhh those don't count

PhD course exams are way chill compared to vet school exams. @WildZoo when do you start??

Trying to assemble a microsurgery pack this morning for my mouse amputations that are approaching more rapidly than I'd like.

Not until after clinics 🙂

That sounds cool though

After being around the hospital like every day for the past 12 weeks, it's going to be strange not having another in hospital rotation until August.

As long as things go according to my master plan.

The massive amount of impostor syndrome I've been dealing with with regard to fourth year seems to have backed off a bit. I'm sure it'll be back, but for now I'm appreciating the small reprieve!

So spring break is over, but of course I'm still on the return trip because who wants to go to class on Monday anyway

The list of things that stand between me and clinics:
One week of lectures
One presentation on polar bears
Four final exams
49 USDA modules (I am the biggest idiot)
Two weeks of transition seminars
One super awesome BSE project/presentation/mini movie

I don't know where I've said this before, but some very kind soul made a massive Quizlet with the questions from those modules. Just throw a couple of the questions into Google to find it. I unfortunately never saved the lonk

49 USDA modules (I am the biggest idiot)

I am feeling this HARDCORE this week as I scramble to finish the grant that I've been putting off writing.

Currently staring at a blank sheet that should be a 6 page strategy for my ENTIRE PhD, which I definitely should have started more than a week before the grant is due.

Wanna be accountability buddies? 😛

Maybe I should be glad my school essentially made us take the quizzes multiple times. We had to do certain modules each week and then would have an in class quiz over those modules. But in order to get a grade for the quiz, you had to have taken all the module quizzes and gotten a certain score. Was very annoying at the time that I had already taken the quizzes but then had to 'take' them again just for the class. I definitely would have been in the same boat as you otherwise

I needed someone to give me earlier deadlines lol

Let's do it
I have other things to work on too but need to know out at least a few of the modules a day. Need to calculate that out actually...

I have other things to work on too, which is why I think I was hoping that if I just didn't acknowledge this grant's existence, it would magically go away.

Spoiler alert: it didn't.

Me every goddamn day

Perhaps the real solution is that I submit the grant in Quizlet form.

This idea went over with my PI about as well as my writing "literally everything" in the potential problems section for one of the specific aims.
