Hi all!

I have been fortunate enough to receive acceptances to both schools of medicine at Loyola and Creighton, and am torn in choosing which to attend. I was hoping for any suggestions for considerations or input into personal experiences. They are both Jesuit schools, with similar tuitions, and are obviously both in the cold weather (although there is the option to do clinical years in Phoenix if attending Creighton). At first thought, I see Loyola's location and slightly more well-known name as advantages over Creighton. Nonetheless, I received a very similar vibe from both schools, in which students were happy, helpful, and tight-knit.

Any help would be much appreciated!

From my understanding, Loyola is a bigger name (although not by a large amount). As I'm sure you know, Loyola is a bit cheaper.

Personally, those two would be enough for me to say "yes" immediately. I know it's only $3,000 cheaper a year and $12,000 isn't much in the grand scheme of things, but it's still saving money.

I live in Nebraska and absolutely love it here, but I do realize some people crave city life. Omaha is big enough to have a good night scene and small enough to be homey at times. Having never been to Chicago, I cannot give much insight into that. I live on a farm outside a couple of towns of about 800 people, so my knowledge of cities should be taken with a grain of salt.

I don't know what you should do, but if I were you (and I didn't live in Nebraska), I would attend Loyola with no regrets. However, if I was in my situation, being from Nebraska, I would choose Creighton over Loyola simply because I would like to live the rest of my life in this state.

Three (maybe 4) things to consider:
1) Money
2) Geography
3) Fit (in school and in community)
(And maybe...) 4) Prestige

Prestige doesn't do much except give bragging rights. Anyway, best of luck.

Loyola, just to be near Chicago alone. SO many great places to do your rotations. Not to mention, unbeatable pizza. 🙂

I will be attending both Second Look days to help me make a decision, but any extra advice would be much appreciated!

I was also accepted to both and I am leaning towards Loyola because of the bigger and better networks of hospitals in the area and BECAUSE I AM A CHICAGOAN. You can do great things coming out of either. IMO go where you feel happiest about after second look!

I would pick Creighton in a heartbeat, but like HCHopeful, I live in Nebraska so I'm probably a little biased. 🙂
