Offers have been made at Harvard, Texas A&M, Houston. I would guess the offers at the TX schools were accepted and the positions are filled at this point.

Any University of Pittsburgh invites??

How about Nova?

Not sure about Nova. They interviewed in early July according to this thread. I would imagine offers were made already unless they do a few interview dates. I was referencing University of Florida in Gainesville.

Does anyone know if Nova does multiple rounds of interviews?

Was looking forward to interviewing at Buffalo, USC and UCLA... Since I haven’t received interview invites to these places yet, should I give up on them for this year?

Same for me.. I have a good ADAT score and a nice resume but no interviews at all..
I’m very very disappointed and kinda wish I went for perio instead
I think you should, if I was a director I highly recommended Perio or even Pros for u, you are not a good fit for Endo.

Have you seen her work to even comment on that?? A comment doesnt define the skills of anyone. At least the Lady is honest because I'm sure half the people on this threat have considered another specialty at some point.
Even if you are a program director, you have no right to judge anyone!

UCLA, yes. USC and Buffalo no. Many applicants receive multiple interviews, so as they are accepted, they will likely decline their additional interviews which opens up spots for more invitations. Most programs only have 1 or 2 interview dates and select their residents from that pool, so if you were not invited, you can probably cross the program off your list. USC and Buffalo have multiple dates according to this thread. Hypothetically, you could receive an interview invite 1 or 2 days before the interview if a spot opens up and you’re on the call list.

As an aside. I have been told this was a rough cycle. Most programs saw about a 30% increase in the number applicants from previous years and some low cost programs (especially the few that pay a stipend) were even more competitive. I don’t think this is an anomaly and would expect the trend to continue.

Interesting to hear that there was a significant jump in the number of applicants. Why do you think that was?

It’s a myriad of things. 1) High end procedures 100% of time which translates into more income 2) It’s easier to transition into bigger/ saturated cities than it is as a GP 3) People want to keep their teeth 4) It’s a specialty that incorporates surgery, operative, restorative, and even perio. A lot of fun stuff. 5) It’s becoming more predictable with microscopes and new armamentarium. 6) It’s only a 2 year residency. I really could keep going.

The only thing keeping it from becoming extremely competitive is the monotony of it. A good portion of dentists enjoy the variety. And even though it’s becoming easier over the last couple decades because of technology, it’s also still a tough specialty which will keep people away.

Also, please keep your ignorant judgments to yourself no one needs to know you're a judgmental *****
you have no idea who's a good fit or not based on a single comment.
cheers.
