Invite to Rutgers via phone call yesterday. They have two dates, I’m already booked somewhere else on the first date but I have a preference for Rutgers. Does anyone think interviewing on the later date will harm my chances of acceptance?

I’m very very disappointed and kinda wish I went for perio instead

Dr. Sabey called early July last year offering interviews. The interview was scheduled for 1st week of August.I also notice Louisiana isn’t on here. Anyone have any ideas?
Temple aug 6th via email
That sentiment is very concerning if you are going to be taken seriously as an endo candidate. This comes off as though you just want to specialize for the sake of specializing...
There are hundreds of extremely well qualified applicants applying for a very limited # of positions. There are going to be a ton of people with the same ADAT score as you and a similar nice resume. Unfortunately getting into endo is more than just good stats; you truly need a defining, wow factor.
I get it; it's frustrating and disappointing. However, one failed application cycle shouldn't determine/ruin your entire future. It's one cycle!
Are you an international dentist??? If you don’t mind can you please tell your ADAT scores? ThanksSame for me.. I have a good ADAT score and a nice resume but no interviews at all..

Louisiana did make a phone call about a week ago but I already accepted a position elsewhere so I’m not sure what the interview days areI also notice Louisiana isn’t on here. Anyone have any ideas?
Yes...a few days ago.Anyone heard if Einstein released any invitations?
LSU’s interview date is July 26I also notice Louisiana isn’t on here. Anyone have any ideas?

I agree with your statement. My comment was nothing but human venting lol
Don’t take it seriously
And thank you for your advice. This isn’t my first cycle and I’ll keep applying till I get accepted. Cheers!
Would you mind listing the interview dates offered? Thank you!
If the dates offered were what was posted on ADEA PASS then it may make a difference. It depends how far apart the dates are and if they are going to wait to offer spots until both interview days are completed. The risk of going to an interview before your first choice school is that if that school offers you a position, would you accept it and forgo interviewing at Rutgers? It is looked down upon to be offered a spot, accept it, and continue to interview. Programs expect that if you accept, you stop interviewing. It's a hard decision to make not knowing if you would get an offer from them. But if they are spread out they might be using the second date as a back up interview to fill spots. They may even think highly of you as a candidate if you inform them you cancelled an interview to be at Rutgers. It just depends on what you value more.
It would be nice if all programs posted their interview dates prior to applying so you don't spend a lot of money applying to schools that interview before your first choice program (assuming they interview the same time as other programs). However, the way the endo app cycle works makes you prioritize programs due to conflicting interview dates. Goodluck choosing!
The acceptance rate for endo OVERALL is about 2 to 3%. It is even more difficult for international dentists and only a handful of universities will take your application seriously, esp if you don't have a masters degree in endo from your home country. The only universities that I am aware of that have accepted international grads without DDS in the past are CWRU (has accepted candidates without MDS too) and UoP.
If you are on a visa, programs that have a stipend are pretty much eliminated from your list of where you stand a strong chance. You chances are stronger at private universities where you would have to pay high tuition.
Yes, you would probably stand a better chance getting into a perio, pros, AEGD, or advanced standing program.
All the best!
I assume most people apply to more than 5 schools. I know there are some people who apply to 20-30Thanks for the info! Yes, they are the same dates posted on the ADEA PASS: July 29 and August 12, so they are a solid 2 weeks apart. This way of interviewing is very stressful. Hopefully, it all works out.
Apparently, in the 2015/2016 cycle there were 3570 applications contending for 218 spots (according to the Survey of Advanced Dental Education), which makes the overall acceptance for endo 6.12% of applications. The 3570 includes applications to multiple programs, unfortunately, they did not reveal the number of actual applicants so we cannot determine the overall acceptance rate. Does anyone know the average number of programs people apply to? If we assume that most people apply to 5 schools, then we can assume the overall acceptance rate is 30.53%. Seems pretty high.
I would need to look into it, but I believe there are actually only 49 current programs. I’m not sure if that statistic you looked at took into account the 3 military programs (I’m not) which in 2015/2016 were taking a good number of residents. And a couple of those 49 are VA programs that take 1-2 residents a year. Otherwise most programs are 3-4 residents per year. Some do admit up to 5. And I have no evidence besides hear say, but it sounds like every school is reviewing somewhere between 100-160 apps. And sure, everyone of those candidates applied elsewhere. Again, I’m going to look into it since I am interested, but I don’t think it’s as low as 3% but it’s definitely not 30%. And my guess is more people are applying each year. Thanks for the info! I have masters in Endo from my country and also private practice experience. However, I didn’t receive any invite till now. I don’t understand the selection criteria but I think it’s eventually the program director’s / selection committee decision. I also think that preferably they look for those who have a US degree or a fellowship in the USA.The acceptance rate for endo OVERALL is about 2 to 3%. You are right!I assume most people apply to more than 5 schools. I know there are some people who apply to 20-30
I called them 2 weeks ago and they told me that they didn’t send out any invites or payments yet. I also just received the payment email earlier this week. *fingers crossed*Yeah, received the same email. Hope it’s worth it!
I don't think the total # of applicants / total # of spots is close to being that low for any specialty. The acceptance rate for endo OVERALL is about 2 to 3%.

Just a correction to that list. UAB changed from 07/26 to 08/23 (not 07/23) because of “an emergency”. And Tennessee has interviews 07/24 and 07/26.Did anyone hear from Tennessee? Or Maryland?
