GW vs Gtown vs Miami

Narrowed it down to GW Gtown or Miami

Miami (20k scholarship)

GW (10k)

Gtown (no money)

Have strong preference for DC due to family/friends. But GW would be 22k more per than Miami after taking into account scholarships. Gtown would be 12k more than GW. Want to follow money in DC but hesitant about GW new curriculum. What do you think?

Also in terms of loans would be taking loans for tuition only possibly less.

Family/friends aside, IMHO Miami is easily the best option here. Even without the scholarships, I would still pick Miami, personally.

Disclaimer: I don't know much about GW, but most GW/Gtown comparison threads on SDN pick Gtown as the better school generally. I think Miami's clinical education is comparable to Gtown's, which I know is saying a lot; this is evidenced by the fact that both have amazing match lists. Miami's advantage, I think, is that it has better research opportunities in a greater variety of fields, no religious affiliation, and, of course, warm weather/proximity to beach. Some may argue that Miami students are happier, friendlier and less cutthroat...

But, seriously, you can't put a price or value on family/friends. Only you can decide that. Still, you got the biggest scholarship from what was already third-cheapest private MD school in the nation. If family/friends can't close that gap, then say hello to

I would say Miami is the best since you're getting a 20k scholarship and the location/weather is ideal 🙂 Between GW and Georgetown, the latter is more highly ranked and has a better match list. Good luck!

You have some leverage. While UMiami has a better location and a great school, being close to family is important as a support system. Try calling GW and seeing if you can get additional aid and that your other options are cheaper. They already know your other 2 acceptances so try your best to barter.

But in school terms, I think all 3 are comparable and great schools. I would personally pick Miami for weather but there is obviously more important things to consider.
