Will they tell you you're position on the waitlist in their decision letter?

Will they tell you you're position on the waitlist in their decision letter?
Nope. They do not release positions. Pretty sure we were told last year or the year before they don’t want people calling daily asking for updates about where they are on the waitlist and bothering ASA, so they just make it policy to not tell you where you are.

How long is the interview? And is it behavioral?

The interview is behavioral and your interviewers will not have access to your file.
My interview last year only lasted ~10 minutes, but other vet med students on this thread have been saying theirs lasted longer, like 20 or 30 minutes. So I think it will largely depend on who your interviewers are, how much you expound upon your answers, and how many questions you have for them.

I'm sitting here waiting for my flight and I got to thinking if anyone knows how Illinois makes their decisions? Like, how much academic, non-academic, and interview are worth?

Hey everyone! i'm flying into Chicago and my flight to Urbana got cancelled. Is there anyone willing to help me with a ride? 🙂 I would be more than happy to pay for gas or some fire road snacks! Good luck to everyone interviewing tomorrow!

Push comes to shove, you can probably still get bus tickets (Peoria Charter is who I use)!

What is there to do around the university? I wanna get to know the city a little since i have the whole day here. Any advice??

Hey y’all,
For registering for the interviews tomorrow, where is the Office of Academic and Student Affairs? I see that registration from 9am to 4pm is there rather than at the Veterinary Basic Sciences building.

ASA is still in the basic sciences building! Early in the day you get your packet right at the front door but they move it to ASA later. Go upstairs 1 floor from the main doors and turn left (right if you took the elevator), pass a fish tank and our mailboxes, and you’ll find ASA on the left

The office of academic and student affairs is in the basic science building. There will be tons of people and signs.

I have to leave to the airport after my interview tomorrow, is there anywhere I can keep my luggage?

Hey y’all! Anyone want to grab dinner with me at some point later tonight? I’ve been sitting in my AirBNB all day alone and would love to have some company later!

I'd be down. I should be getting in around 7ish with a few other people. I can see if they want to join

Yes! Can one of y’all start a group message? I’m on my phone and have no idea how to do that

There are shops (Walnut Street Tea Co if you like tea), bars/restaurants (Blind Pig Brewery, Triptych brewery, Crane alley has pool tables, Red Bicycle Ice Cream, Smallcakes cupcakes in Champaign), Marketplace Mall, there's an IMAX theater in Savoy, ... basic indoor activity things, lol. There's an escape room place called Adventure Time, the Union bookstore (has a starbucks in it,too). There's a cool crafts thrift shop called the Idea Store in Lincoln Square Mall if you're into that sort of thing. Just throwing things out there, not sure what you're into.

(I'm going to assume the answer to this is already obvious but) is it fine to wear casual clothes on the tour? My interview is at 9:30 and I have to leave for the airport straight from the tour and would definitely prefer to not be in my interview clothes:cat:

I’m flying into O’Hare so if the flight keeps getting delayed then eventually canceled. Am I going to
Lose my interview??

Some schools do Interviews through Skype if something happens that you cant make it to the interview. Idk if U of I does this but it wont hurt to ask right?

I was wondering the same thing... my rebooked flight seems like it's about to get cancelled. I just want to know if they offer a skype option or something if this happens

I’d try seeing about flying into a different airport if possible. Indianapolis, St. Louis, Bloomington, Peoria.

I’m from StL and I’m taking a bus! Pretty sure there is one that leaves late, so if you can fly in before then you’ll catch it fine.

Also random question for current students, do you guys have a dress code?

Nooooope. If you’re on clinics you do, but for just regular classes there isn’t one. I wear exclusively yoga pants and sweatshirts to class when we don’t have anatomy (most people wear scrubs but I don’t think that’s even technically required). Days we do I just put my scrubs on in the morning because I am lazy and don’t want to change during lunch but also don’t want to get my yoga pants and sweatshirts smelling like formaldehyde

If someone already answered this my bad, but you can feel free to wear whatever you'd like for the tour and info session! A lot of people stayed in their interview attire all day bc they probably just didn't want to change, but I wore leggings and a t-shirt up until my actual interview 😉

Im bringing a semi medium size purse with me that has extra shoes and legging for after my interview. Is there a place to put my purse during the interview safely or is it alright for me to bring it in the interview room?

Are there any events in the morning or does everything start around 11 am? My interview is at 11:30 and I was thinking of showing up around 10:30-11am, is that okay?

This is a long shot but is anyone just now getting into O’Hare? My flight was delayed from N.C. four times so my original ride couldn’t wait. Then I was going to get a Peoria charter but ticket but they are all booked until a 10:30 PM one which gets in at 1:45 AM. Illini shuttles have no tickets. Is anyone available who is coming through the O’Hare area?!

You might be able to check on blablacar to see if they have any rides down here!

I kind of vaguely remember keeping my suitcase in one of the offices last year while I interviewed/toured! I think they're pretty accommodating (and I'll probably be doing the same thing tomorrow).

this ice/snow is making the traveling tricky!! going to be getting in real late (like 2am) tonight - hopefully the roads are OK

While the school is a very trustworthy place, unfortunately, with so many people in the building tomorrow there’s really no way for the school to guarantee the safety of your belongings. It’s up to you if you choose to risk leaving the bag outside the exam room. Other options: bringing it with you (I think you’d just need to use your best judgement of whether or not that would look professional, based on the size of the bag when full) or elsewise making a friend and asking them to hold it for the timebeing 🙂

There are student-led tours beginning approximately every 15 minutes, starting at 9am- I’d highly recommend one 🙂
Additionally, there are two identical info sessions held by our Associate Dean (10/10 recommend). The first is at 11am which would probably not really work for you (they last an hour or so) and the other is at 2pm I believe.

I just landed in O’Hare! I currently have a flight scheduled to go to Willard airport that departs at 10 that goes directly into the town, if you want to take a look at that and see if there’s any open seats/if the flight stays scheduled

I appreciate that! It may be easier to stick with my bus ticket since it’s only $32
