Hey guys, so I was just wondering if you could give me some input about these two schools. I've been having a really tough time deciding which school to attend. Just to put it out there, I am a NJ resident. The only other thread I have found debating between the two was dated back to 2013 and was not much help. Thanks again in advance! Really appreciate it!

Italian food vs barbecue?

I don't know anything about Rowan. Being home is always a plus since it's close to your support network.

I have a high regard for KCU, since they have gotten grads into Derm at the Mayo Clinic. No mean feat.

Rowan has stronger rotations and research opportunities than KCU IMO. Would love to be biased here and say KCU but I can't. I would pick Rowan.

hmm would you possibly say that the curriculum at KCU would be worth it to pick KCU since it has produced such great board scores?

Board scores are huge and they get your foot in the door for a lot of programs no question but there are other things that come with a strong application that Rowan may provide more so than KCU. Self motivation can still allow you to succeed without the KCU curriculum pushing you. I guess it comes down to how hard you're willing or wanting to be worked the first two years. What specialties are you eyeing right now

I'm looking to get into a solid IM program, hopefully to open doors for some fellowship opportunities!!
q39 may be a deciding factor as well heh

Public school, northeast area of US has most residencies and oppportunities for specialties, easier med school experience compared to KCU, more research opportunities

Yep totally agree. If I had an acceptance between the two I'd go to Rowan for the reasons listed above.

Thank you all for the input! I have decided to go with Rowan!

you won't regret it. I was in a similar situation between OSU and KCU. It was tough because OSU has resources, and KCU has good board scores but neither have both. However, I think if you are motivated you can score just as well without the KCU curriculum, AND you will enjoy year one more. First year has been a blast for me, and my friends at schools with KCU curriculum are not having as good of a time. I think KCU is amazing, but go Rowan and don't look back!
