2024-2025 Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine (RowanSOM)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Bro why are all the ppl getting accepted off WL the ones that got waitlisted in May. They didnt have to suffer like us 😭😭😭

Is it possible for oos students to get in state tuition if you get nj residency after the first year of school? If someone has any insights on this, it would be super helpful. Rowan is 77k OOS I recently found out. I'm from NY and that's higher than every NY DO tuition. Rowan was definitely my top choice, but finding out how expensive the tuition was is scaring me. Any words of advice would be appreciated.

I'm currently deciding between Touro Harlem (68k), NOVA (71k), Rowan (77k oos)
509 mcat, 3.9 gpa, attended campus, had a great interview, absolutely loved the school so far
RowanSOM's website explicitly states OOS will pay OOS tuition for the entire 4 years. Unless you buy a house/pay property tax, and have your family move to NJ to pay income tax there I really don't think you can appeal to an IS tuition.

It would help if you can calculate your estimated interest rate over the course of 4 years including tuition, cost of housing, expenses, emergencies, etc. Then compare the accrued interest that they’ve gained to each other and compare the monthly payments you would make during residency and beyond. Compare residency placements research and so forth depending on what you want and see if its worth it.

PBL, interview february, WL’d March, LM 69. I met with admissions/ called them every 2 weeks and submitted an LOI

hey just out of curiosity, how many ppl are on WL rn? like this message if you are lol
there was a webinar for waitlisted students a couple months ago and there were 100 students that attended, so prob currently >100?

Holy. Isn't the webinar for anyone who's interviewed? Btw it prolly decreased or remained the same from then not increased.

possibly but the class was full by then so only decision would’ve been waitlist or rejection 😬 & i think it could’ve increased bc more ppl interviewed following the webinar so there could’ve been more waitlisted

Congratulations!! When you say you called/met with admissions every 2 weeks, were you providing activity updates, asking about the WL, or expressing that Rowan is your top choice? Ive sent a couple update letters, LOI, met w adcom members twice, and went to a campus tour. I don’t want to pester them so I’m just wondering. Thanks!

Their response regarding students on the waitlist: "patterns of withdrawal can vary a great deal from cycle to cycle. That said, based on historical experience, we still expect to see significant waitlist movement this year so there's good reason to be hopeful!"
Wait this is good news. For students to get off WL, withdrawals would have to happen. 2-3 students drop a day according to adcom. Interview cycle was completed two weeks ago (according to adcom I spoke to). Its only been the 2nd week since interview cycle since there was some WL movement. We still have time. It still a waiting game but it's not over yet.

idk, I’ve fully given up at this point. When they said “significant” movement, I really hope they meant it in the scientific sense and didn’t just use the word loosely

anyone know how to/which email address to send Rowan my final transcript?

What I don't understand is how the people that are sent acceptances on here have a typical LizzyM score of like 69 but the average matriculants last year had an average LizzyM of 65.5. May sound minor but thats like a 7 point different on the MCAT.

Thank you! PBL at Sewell. No idea what the LM is but 507 MCAT and 3.87 sGPA/3.83 GPA

Congrats again [emoji322] Did you do anything specific to get off the WL? (LOI, meet w admissions, etc) I am also IS PLBL Sewell and interviewed at end of Jan, I’m wondering how the process for accepting off WL works

I sent a LOI shortly after getting WLed and met with admissions in March to have a review of my application and emphasize that Rowan was my number 1 choice. Besides the March meeting and the LOI, I didn't do much.

congrats to all the As, future docs! OMS II here and you guys are going to love it! super excited to see those of y’all who are doing pre-mat! remember to take it easy this upcoming weeks and enjoy this free time for those of you in your gap year(s)!

OOS A for SGL on 5/29!! Interview 3/18, WL 4/4.

Congrats!! would you mind sharing your stats and whether you called, sent a LOI or went to a campus tour?
thank you! 3.6 cGPA and 3.4 sGPA and 509 MCAT. I called 1-2 times a month and sent a LOI and did an admissions appointment. I did go to a campus tour and they recognized me so definitely call every 2ish weeks. also i was accepted SGL at stratford

Congrats! Did they indicate at any point like where you were at WL wise or your overall chances? Also what did you generally say when you called, espically maybe if you didn’t have any updates?

Yes! they were super nice and i asked if i had a reasonable chance of getting off and they said yes and to keep calling back, keep my voicemail open and check my emails. I usually had some sort of question and would ask about my status while I was on the phone. I did the same thing to get an interview too actually lol

Question for y’all who been calling regularly. When you do, have you been giving them your details like name and ID number? I’m wondering if all the times I’ve spoke to them but my name wasn’t asked for means it doesn’t get logged somewhere unfortunately .

I gave them my name last I called. They inform admissions staff that you call them/relay what you said to them during the call.

Yes, I would tell them my name and they would look up my app and note that I called. I definitely recommend sending an LOI and admissions consulting if you haven’t already!

Yea, I mean I give my name most of the time. But it’s like unlike I specifically ask or they bring up my file and ask me for my details, I feel like I have no idea if they actually bothered noting that I called with just my name. Sometimes it even feels like they just want to finish up the call after briefly telling me there’s no updates or news. Idk maybe I’m just getting unlucky with who I get every time I try.
