Hi all,

I am undergoing a career change, I am currently an interpreter for the Deaf but will begin taking prerequisite courses to start my journey to vet school. The area I live in is very limited in veterinary experiences, short of working at a vet assistant and volunteering for a local pit bull rescue, there isn't much else for me to do. Anyone know of any research opportunities or programs that I should look into for his coming summer? Preferably in he New York region (western)

Thanks!

Hi there, welcome to SDN. 🙂 I'm from WNY and there's actually a TON of opportunities for diverse veterinary experience around. I had 10,000+ hours when I applied (worked as assistant in a couple practices). Feel free to PM me if you'd like to chat!

I am from the WNY area as well and know of lots of experience opportunities. If you are in the Buffalo area, there are always student research opportunities at Roswell Park and there's a company in Rochester that does animal drug trials. WNY is a great place to be for SA, LA, and exotic experience!
