Just got a call from the dean! I have been accepted!!! Anyone else?! I know the website says in rare occasions they'll accept students early, but I am hoping someone else has received a phone call too?! I feel a bit embarrassed because when he called I was sleeping so I am sure my voice did not sound too pleasant...... :dead:

Congratulations! I just got an acceptance phone call as well! And I had also just woken up so no need to feel embarrassed. He probably gets that a lot.

GRE- EMBARRASSINGLY LOW on both verbal(145) and math(145); 4 on the writing portion. I am HORRIBLE at standarized testing.
Equine: 86+
SA: 402
Wildlife/exotics: 240+
research: ZERO
Extracurricular activites: lots! (very diverse- alot of community outreach work)

I think my interview was the icing on the cake. I felt I did really well on my interview!🙄 I think LMU viewed my application in a more holisitc way because as you can see my stats aren't the best.

Congrats! I wonder how many they accepted yesterday. I interviewed on the 23rd and thought it went really well.

Animal Experience

Equine: ~50 hr
Exotics: ~45 hr
Lab Animal: 800+
Research: 5 semesters; I've worked on 4 different projects (3 related to behavioral neuroendocrinology and 1 doing organic peptide synthesis)
Extracurricular activities/Work: Working as a lab tech in the Biology Dept. at my university, past Treasurer and current VP of Biology Club, involved in a sorority (holding various leadership positions), various volunteer work, worked as a camp counselor for kids with special needs for 4 summers.

My interview was 10/14
As for STATS:

Overall GPA: 3.51 - depending on who you ask, LSU put me at 3.79, I don't know what LMU put
Science GPA: 3.75
Last 45hr : 4.0
GRE: 159/159/4 (Q/V/A)

Experience:
Small animal: >9,000 (4yr full time employment) at a single small animal hospital.
Equine/Large animal = I saw a horse once and gave it a carrot
Research: None
Extracurricular activities: Organic Chemistry teachers assistant, Independent research on medical microbiological methods/ applications to small animal practice, musician, volunteer work with animal rescue organization..
 
My interview was on October 28th and I thought it went really well. Congrats to all who have been accepted already!!! I hope I hear from them soon I really want to go here!!!
 
Does anybody know if the interview is closed or open as far as 'have the interviewers read your application recently'? I've heard schools are starting to do more interviews without previous knowledge of the applicant.

Additionally, can anybody explain to me the accreditation a little bit more? I know LMU is under provisional accreditation as of now but I wasn't sure if that meant they were going to be fully accredited by the time this upcoming class graduates (if that is a guarantee). 🙂
 
It is a blind interview. They haven't read your application. Also they can't be fully accredited until they graduate their first class in 2018.
 
They explain everything in their introduction while you eat lunch. It is very organized!!!

As others have mentioned, it's a blind interview. They know your name and nothing else about you. I didn't really enjoy that format bc they asked a bunch of situational questions like at a job interview. It was like "Name a time when you faced a challenge" and "how do you handle disagreements", so you may want to practice those types of questions if you're not accustomed to them.

I may have worded it wrong, but I understood they cannot be accredited until they graduate the 2018 class, however, is this a guarantee? Meaning after the 2018 class graduates is accreditation immediately set into place or is there still a possibility it will not occur until a few years after they graduate the 2018 class?

Interesting. I'm surprised more schools are doing blind interviews! Does the interview still feel like a conversation rather than a standard interview, then? I find that interviews that are blind seem, to me at least, to be less conversational.

It was certainly less conversational than my Midwestern interview. When they have your app in front of them more spontaneous questions can come up from cool stuff on your app, which I like bc I like talking about myself 😉 . With those situational questions sometimes they were asking similar things and I was using the same examples, which hindered some conversation. Also one of my interviewers was super quiet, which didn't help haha. Overall, I wish I practiced job-interview questions more than standard application questions since that would be more advantageous in this case.

They have provisional right now. As they explained, all students admitted under provisional are treated as other students from fully accredited schools on graduation. So as long as you are admitted while they have provisional, you still graduate as if you went to a fully accredited school. They will become fully accredited in 2018 when their first class graduates. They can't become fully accredited until they graduate their first class, but they don't see any reason why they would not become fully accredited in 2018.

I know what you mean! I definitely find it easier to portray your own personality that way 😉 Rather than the standard questions anyway (which are always required nontheless, but fun questions are good too!) Hehe.

This is correct. If, for some reason, the COE wants improvement in an area, then the provisional accreditation can be extended (this happened with Western), but that doesn't change the licensing exams or the fact that you've graduated from an accredited school.
 
Personally, I thought that my LMU interview was more conversational than my Midwestern one (which at the time I thought was very conversational...), so I think it depends on who your interviewers are!
 
I also thought my interview was very conversational. It seemed like they wanted to get to know who I am as a person (they asked me what I like to do for fun.) My interviewer happened to go to the same undergrad as me so I guess I just lucked out but we talked a lot about that.
 
Has anyone who interviewed already sent thank you cards? I would like to send some, but I don't know how to address the envelope. Anyone know?
 
Has anyone else still not heard anything about interviews? I emailed and they said my application was still under consideration...

Thanks, my stats are in the lower range of competitive, but not terrible. I am dying for the chance to interview.

Have you seen my stats? especially my GREs? I think you need not worry aslong as everything else is good 🙂
 
Very nervous about hearing back in regards to interviews... I (accidentally) got an acceptance letter late-October without having been offered an interview. Couldn't decide whether or not to be excited or confused. Found out this week that my application was somehow also sent to the undergrad admissions office... UGH, hoping praying this doesn't effect my CVM admission's, considering its a month into interviews already 🙁 with how busy they are, I can't get anybody to call me back and assure me that they have all of my application materials (versus the undergrad office having all of it). This process is so nerve-wracking!!!!

Send Genell an email-that's the best way to get a hold of her amidst interviews when she's out of office.

The interview is really laid-back! It is closed file, but they ask you right off to introduce yourself. I took that question to address some stuff and experiences I thought were important for them to know. Most of it will be about you and your experiences. I was asked a couple of scenario questions. Just be yourself and have some importanr points about you ready and you will do fine. It is more like a job interview than the stress-filled MMI. I really enjoyed it 🙂
 
Hi, everyone! I was offered an interview at LMU and will be going on Nov. 20! I'm so nervous and excited to see the campus! For those of you that already interviewed this year and visited the campus, what was your favorite part of the day/of the campus and what was your overall impression of LMU?
 
Had my interview on Oct 28th LOVED the campus and felt that "at home" feeling. I hope to hear from them soon and congrats to all that have already been accepted [emoji173]️

Not a peep. Applied in August, got an email Oct. 8th saying my application was under review.
 
@pibble-love didn't need hotel, just a 4 hour drive for me. They let us know they had a lot more invites to send out so prayers going for all the ones waiting on theirs!
 
Well that's convenient! I'm looking at a 9 hour drive, so I definitely need to stay in a hotel 😛 I hope you get the happy call from the Dean soon!

I stayed at the Sleep Inn in Middlesboro. It was pretty nice as far as hotels go, and they serve breakfast. The Holiday Inn is right next to it. It is right around the corner from Harrogate, and there are quite a few restaurants near by. The drive to Ewing is pretty short, only about 15 minutes.
 
I stayed at the Holiday Inn in Middlesboro. They have a deal with the university where if you mention you are interviewing at LMU, then it's like $5 or $10 off your room.
