LMU c/o 2027 Applicants

I didn't get an acceptance offer yet after interviewing but after today's email I should still hold out some hope right? I got one denial today and knowing others who interviewed on the same day as me and were accepted but not hearing back kind of has bummed me out today.

There was another email sent out today?

So fall decisions will be released in December?
Historically they have sent early invites in December for fall, but priority this cycle is spring and do not have a solid timeline for Fall only invites at present.

Fall only invites won’t go out until spring is filled, and I’d suspect those likely won’t roll out until January.

Spring only invites will continue to roll out until the class is filled, and I don’t know where they’re at with number of spring invites currently out.

They can never have more offers than seats available out.

That said, acceptances will likely continue to roll out now through January for spring and ??? until August for Fall 2023.

??? = unknown

Does anyone know the start date for January? Is it the same as the other classes or delayed?

I've declined my seat for spring - I wish everyone that wants a spot in spring the best of luck!!
I also declined my seat for Spring last night🙁 good luck to everyone eligible and interested!
I will take it 😃 good luck to you guys, hopefully you will get to your dream school.

Thank you!! This was my first and only acceptance so far, after not getting in anywhere last year, so it was difficult to decline 😞 still waiting to hear from a bunch others though
when you decline are you automatically put back into the fall admissions process?

Accepted for January, but I am still in my last year of undergrad so I have to decline my seat. Not thrilled to have to decline a seat anywhere this early, but I really want to finish my degree. 🙁

Finish your degree! Vet school will always be there

I have an interview tomorrow and while I am so excited to interview with this school, I am honestly crushed. While I am graduating this December, I am going to have to painfully decline if I am accepted for Spring. I am 10+ hours away from this school, my lease is not up until July, and if I did hear back in 8 weeks it will already be January... If I am accepted for spring, why can't I be placed for fall 2023? Why do I have to go back into the applicant pool for fall for the possibility of getting rejected? I am just ranting at this point and I will eventually get over it but this just makes me sad.

It's just a bad situation all around. If you're good enough to get into the spring class then you're good enough to get into the fall class. However, at the same time, it wasn't fair to the people who are only eligible for the fall class, because it seems if the option to pick between either class was still available then the fall class would probably be almost filled by now. I know everyone involved is stressed from us who applied all the way to the admission team. I just hope everything works out for everyone.

HELP! I received an email for an interview on the 8th, and I haven't had a chance to go through all of my email until today. I was supposed to choose a date and time by the 11th, and it is now the 13th. I already emailed Ciera to see if I can still interview, just freaking out and wanting to know if I can still be interviewed.

I think if you explain why you missed the email they may allow you to still interview. I think an email winding up in your spam folder/otherwise getting buried in your inbox would be a silly reason to disqualify you from a chance at attending vet school. Don’t panic too much, good luck and let us know what happens!

Thank you, I emailed Ciera, but I will also call tomorrow. I'm assuming there will be more interview dates, so hopefully they can fit me into one of the upcoming ones. I will keep you updated.

So I've thought about what my response will be to the offer I've received, and I'm 90% leaning towards accepting due to how fortunate I am to have a boyfriend who is willing to take up my half of the rent so that I don't have to break my/our lease and the fact that if I don't accept, then there's the possibility that I might not get in this cycle + have to pay $17k for another semester of my master's program just in case I need to apply a third time (also very fortunate to have a master's program that's flexible and will allow me to withdraw and resume right where I left off later). However, I do need to make some calls before I pay my deposit and also have some questions that might sway my decision, so I guess this post is mostly for current LMU students:

1. Where do most students usually live? And how does it work with LMU housing + pets?
2. What is the culture and social climate like at LMU? I've always lived in big cities all my life, so I guess I'm a little intimidated by the thought of living in a rural area.
3. Is it possible to find a job where you can work 1-2 times a week? My manager might be able to find me a place to transfer, but we're not sure how far away it would be. So just in case it ends up being too far, what are the possibilities of finding a job that will allow you to work 1-2 times a week?

Thank you in advance!! Good luck to everyone with interviews coming up, everyone who's still waiting, and everyone who is also either trying to make this difficult decision right now or who had to decline the offer. I know that we'll all be great vets in the future!!

Go to the LMU CVM housing page on FB and you will find an endless amount of housing options. Many having been posting lately for the January class. Many off campus housing allows pets from what I’ve seen. Many students, including myself, live in Middlesboro, KY which is a 7 min drive to the main campus and 19 min drive to the Farm in VA. Off campus is cheaper than the graduate housing for some people. Middlesboro is a nice little town and has all of the grocery stores and restaurants. Graduate housing do allow pets! There are apartment style rooms sharing with 2 roommates or singles.

The atmosphere is nice so far! The community loves the students and have many community events throughout the year. I know Middlesboro holds a large event in the summer until like mid September with live music and food every Thursday. And Knoxville is about 1 hr and 20 mins away. My friends and I use it as a little day trip on the weekends.

As for work, I don’t know much about working while in school as my program highly recommended us not to work, but I’ve heard of some students working. Some are TA’s and some do work off campus. Hopefully a current student can answer this question for you.

I hope this helps and I hope to see a fellow classmate in January!!

I’m so confused. I just got an email about the anonymous survey after interviewing and the email says acceptance offers will roll out in the next few weeks and that those offered admission have the choice between January and august. I thought that was changed? Maybe they forgot to change the automated email?

I’m so conflicted 😞 the idea that this may be my only chance of attending vet school next year (other than the carribeans) is making this choice impossible. I want to give myself the chance to hear back from the 12 schools I have left to hear from, but what if they are all rejections? Then I’ll be stuck going to the carribeans which is my back up school 😭 do you think those who are accepted for the spring will also be at the top of the list for fall acceptances?

Hi guys! I have my interview this week. Any tips for prepping for MMI style interviews? Is it anything like the CASPer? Thanks!

Most students rent houses and live by themselves or with roommates. It's been mentioned here but join the LMU CVM housing and for sale page and you can start get a feel of what is available. There is also a LMU-DCOM housing facebook group that I would join. I would say a majority of the housing is in Middlesboro and Harrogate. There are some off-campus apartments but they are few and far between. Best bet would be graduate housing or renting a house. Be careful if looking at housing out at Ewing which is closer to the Virginia farm, some houses don't have internet or if they do its slow.

I know I have classmates that moved from big cities and experienced culture shock. It is very rural out here and the larger cities are knoxville (11.5 hours away) and lexington (2 hours away). Morristown is about an hour and has a little more to do than middlesboro. Middlesboro has a walmart, movie theatre, belks, and a few other small shops but that is about it. The majority of things to do around here is being outside (hiking, kayaking). The gap has festivals pretty regularly which are fun and a chance to get out and enjoy the community. There are 2 bars in the gap but most people go to knoxville. Honestly it makes going to knoxville fun because you usually go on a free weekend or after exams to celebrate. You are so busy studying and doing school work I think I forget sometimes that I live in a rural area.

I would not recommend working. You hit the ground running from the first week and are doing hands on labs and lecture days can be from 8-5pm. Your schedule is also always changing and it's not like undergrad where you have the same class on the same day. Your schedule can also change even after the semester starts. Once you get through first year if you do well in a class you can apply to be a tutor and it's an easy way to earn some money while having a flexible schedule. If anything I would wait until your at least through your first year before considering working during school and just focus on working during breaks.

Have you applied to vet schools in past cycles? If so, did you have application reviews? This May give you a better understanding of where you stand this application cycle. I think you will have to really think about your options. If you don’t get accepted and have to wait another year, do you have a solid plan for that year of waiting. I am not in your shoes right now, but I can imagine how hard it is. I have quite a few friends in the Caribbean schools, and I know several who didn’t make it in their programs. I would never want to stray someone away. But, if you get the opportunity to go to a state school, really consider taking that opportunity. It would be next to impossible for me to even accept a spring start if offered at this time in my life. But, if I was offered and could do it, I would.

If you’re able to go I would say go for it! But if you’re waiting for other schools that are cheaper or suite you better, I would wait!

I prepped by reviewing Casper-style questions and sample answers and also looking at issues in vet med! Do that and become comfortable speaking for extended periods and you’ll do fine!

just came here to say that…
They must've fixed it because it says now,
"if an acceptance is offered, the specific language will be included in the letter of acceptance. At this time, current acceptances extended will only be for the Silver cohort in January.

If you decline a 2027 Silver (January) acceptance in the next 1-8 weeks, you will go back on the list to be re-evaluated for the 2027 Blue (August) cohort. Declining a spring seat does not adversely impact your fall eligibility. Once spring is filled, LMU-CVM will begin re-evaluating and offering admission to the Fall cohort."

Does anyone know if there's anywhere on the LMU website or other sources where we can see accepted student statistics? Mainly interested in cum and science GPA. Thanks in advance!

This is class of 2024. https://www.lmunet.edu/college-of-veterinary-medicine/admissions/documents/Class-of-2024-.pdf

We as a class asked once about what ours was and I don't think we ever heard back
I’m a member of 2026 and we also asked but never heard anything. The only statistics we got was we had ~1,900 applicants with over 40% of our class being first gen students.

This link has some information regarding the class of 2025, but not as much as the demographic for the class of 2024.

For some of the practice MMI questions (which are hard to find) I’ve seen some where they may have applicants calculate drug dosages, etc. How high of probability does that have being asked during vet school interviews?
