If I had to guess how they're proceeding with their process is that they're both inviting and chopping off from their list. Not every school does this, but there are a couple of schools that do reject and accept at the same time. For example, Iowa has already rejected those who didn't meet their GPA cut off (per the APVMA FB page) and UPenn also does this when they begin to send out interview invites (most interview invite waves bring both rejections and invitations apparently).

As far as stats go, there are so many more things than stats that most schools (especially the holistic ones) look at. They also look at experience, life experiences, extracurriculars, and such, so don't feel discouraged if your GPA/"stats" are on the lower side! I can share some of my stats later but I'm about to leave the house lol

Agreed. I also think they take into consideration those that are getting ready to complete their degrees. If someone has all their prereqs completed and a pretty solid last 45, they may be more willing to accept them earlier. I feel like it would be difficult to justify accepting someone with say 6-8 pre-reqs outstanding before someone who has all prereqs and more courses completed. Many people have applied to lots of schools this cycle, I am sure many schools are betting on a good amount of people they accept being accepted somewhere else too. I would not give up hope unless you have already been rejected this cycle. I have felt more confident in my application this year after doing the application reviews with the schools I was denied at last year. I definitely recommend people doing them.
 
Did anyone else have a tough time declining their seat for the spring because you felt like you may have given up your shot at attending vet school this cycle but needed to do what was best for you? Trying to sort through those feelings right now and it does not feel so great.

Not for me. In fact I've become more positive.

1. At least I was accepted for spring, meaning I have a chance for fall
2. Which leads to me believe that other schools will at least look at my file closely like LMU.

Stay positive!! The bus has already departed. Wait for the next one!

It was hard but I feel like they will offer fall seats to those who declined spring (and said they still want to be considered for fall)!! Wouldnt that be really messed up if they didnt? Since earlier on the first group of ppl accepted had the option, so it would only be fair.. Idk, just hopeful thinking 🫠
 
Just found out that those who are accepted will not receive physical mail of acceptance / more information about the school until you pay the matriculation fee! Best of luck everyone rooting for all of you!!!

I kind of think this too. After originally giving us the choice initially i feel like they will still accept us for fall. I think they only took away the choice to try to put more pressure on us to join spring if we are able
 
It would be SO great if admissions would tell us how many applicants accepted fall instead of spring and what our chances of getting into fall would be if we decided to deny spring. Hopefully, we all might hear in a few weeks and get our answers. 🙂
 
Only interested in fall but received an acceptance for Spring 2023 today. Hurts to decline, but it's not the right decision for me. I know another applicant will be happy to claim that spot. Best of luck to everyone in the process of deciding or waiting to hear!

No the ones who didn’t make it to the Caribbean don’t have strong applications unfortunately. Those who get rejected are on the lower end of a low gpa, like under a 2.7

What do you mean? I know several vets who graduated from Ross, I myself have never really looked into their program tho.

What is wrong with Ross? I interviewed there last year and they seemed fine.

I speak from personal experience…. There are excellent veterinarians that have graduated from Ross, but there are hundreds of students that have failed out and so much more. It’s bad

Ross is a profit school meaning that they do not care if you fail out. All Ross cares about is profit and their number one factor to eliminate students is through block exams. Block exams are 14 questions. 10 questions are new material and 4 are from previously chapters. If you get all 10 questions correct, you can still fail if you did not remember the 0.2 font from the first slide of chapter 1. Professors also will not tell you where there’s 4 questions come from either. It is pure hell every week. Students are not given a break to decompress either. A professor that teaches physiology told me “we expect 20-30% to fail out every semester because there is not enough spots for everyone at clinical.” There is so much more and students will degrade you if you need tutoring. It was the worst experience of my life. Run from Ross

That’s just terrible, hopefully you will get to a great school this cycle, I am glad I didn’t have all pre-req for ROSS 🙂

I was thinking of paying the fee to secure my seat while I wait, but don't know if this will negatively impact my chance at fall acceptance if I did that. I feel horrible because I don't know how I would even move in 4 weeks and find housing. I'm scared that if I pass this up I could end up not getting in anywhere. And I don't even know if they prioritize students that were offered spring acceptance for the fall cycle. Feeling very conflicted

It’s my understanding that you need to decline your seat, in order to get back on the main pool for Fall cohort. So putting down a deposit might take you off the race for LMU fall. Also, they mentioned we would be reevaluated with the rest of fall people if we decline a spring seat, so no guarantee or special treatment sadly

Please don’t pay the deposit unless you actually plan on attending in the spring. I know it’s a hard decision but if you commit and then back out later you’re leaving other students with an even harder decision because they’ll have to scramble to fill your spot with even less time. And there’s the chance that LMU won’t consider you at all for fall if you withdraw. Just make the decision that’s best for you. If moving is the biggest thing holding you back there’s been multiple people on this forum that talked about how they had no problem finding places to live on short notice.

I had the same thought process and even thought about placing a deposit as well. I decided that I wanted to hear back from other schools and ultimately declined my seat. Placing a deposit and then later declining your seat if you get an interview or offer somewhere else in the next weeks will take you out of the equation for fall. Do what is best for you! I guarantee neither decision will feel totally right but do know that there are many others in the same boat!

Thank you and everyone else for your advice. I think I am going to decline as well. I am waiting to hear back from 7 other schools and in a perfect world, I would have taken the fall seat in a heart beat.

Congrats! I agree with everyone when they say that it’s a really hard decision to make and either decision will leave you feeling a few doubts tbh. Just want to echo that you should do what is best for you and your mental health first of all. After that, I think do also take into consideration your financial situation (i.e. your IS vs your OOS, if you don’t get accepted anywhere else this cycle, will you have the money to apply another cycle?, are you able to financially take the risk of applying another cycle?, and etc). Again though, listen to your gut and do what is best for you. The financial considerations are just if you still need some more factors to help you make a decision.
 
Have anyone from the 11/14 group heard back yet? I am over here waiting around like this.

This isn't exactly true... I failed out of Ross in 2021. I completed a master's degree and am now in the LMU class of 2026. It is possible to become a vet after that experience, it just takes a lot of work! Despite my experiences with the school, I don't regret attending. Do I agree with how certain things are conducted? Not necessarily, but I learned a lot about myself and it has ultimately helped me become a stronger student. There are several people that do very well there and make fantastic doctors! Just like any school, do your research and find out if it will be a good fit for you!
 
I have not been receiving e-mails regarding visitation dates. Are those e-mails only sent to people that have interviewed/been invited to interview? The last email I received from them was the Link to Zoom Info Session on 11/14.

I believe visitation dates are for people who have interviewed/ been invited to interview. The new ones they have offered are more geared towards the spring eligible people I believe. The ones back in early nov I think where for anyone that interviewed including fall only eligible people including myself.

This is the reality for the majority of students that fail out. Majority of schools that I spoke with had informed me that they had a strict no acceptance policy for students that failed out, which is why I withdrew. Looks like we also attended Ross at the same time. We’re you apart of the blue class?

I was in Red (Jan 2021). The reality is, it takes work. I also spoke with every vet school in the country in addition to a friend of mine who also has a list of schools they compiled that will not accept students following failing out of vet school. There are only 9 schools (including Ross) that have a strict no acceptance policy for students that failed out. I personally know 10 people that have failed out of vet school and have been accepted post-dismissal. Like I said, it takes work. You have to make your application competitive again. After I failed at Ross, I had a low 2.something GPA but getting a 3.8 in my masters helped significantly and showing improvement is the major part of you application they look for. I understand you had a difficult experience with the school, I know how much hard work is required after that experience, but there are plenty of people that also have great experiences at Ross.
