Sorry if this was asked before - are parents allowed to join us on the tour and other activities after our MMI?
Last year it felt like there was not a lot of time that they could actually be involved (but I don't know the actually policy)...but there was at least one parent at the lunch we had. Most people come alone - I actually met a few of my current classmates on my interview day, one is even in my lab group!

Still waiting to hear about acceptance!!! I’m tense everyday!
Same!! I really thought IS students would have heard by now. Everyday this week so far, around 5pm I become a wreck until about 7:arghh: LOL, hopefully we will hear soon!

For interview day, is there a safe place we can store our luggage/personal belongings

Yes! There is a room before you are taken to the interview where they go over the interview format and some college information. The room is locked (I believe) until everyone from your interview group returns!

Hi! When the last batch of interview invites come out, they’ll be for Feb 28th right? Feb 21st invites are already out? Am doing my feb work schedule so need to be precautious!
thank you!

Got an email saying they won’t be sending acceptance letters out this week!

How did you guys prepare for your interview? I’m at a loss with this MMI format...

Why? They said they were going to
They said they couldn’t follow through with the original plan but they hope to get Them out when they can. They said unfortunately they don’t know when that’ll be. Lol I’m patiently waiting!

The medical journals kind of threw me off but try to read them and understand what they’re asking and see how your morals play into that role. Truly be yourself!! If you don’t know we’re you stand with a question just research it and see how you feel. And practice speaking on your thoughts.

Do MMIs allow you to ask questions like a regular interview? Are you expected to?

I saw that as well! I was wondering if more than one person heard anything :/

I know we need to be patient but still kinda feels like a semi-rejection. Wish they sent out all invites at once like other schools just to let everyone end their anxiety at once lol

From the MMI book I've read, it seems like MMI interviewers are limited to a strict script as to not show bias and it is more you reacting to the scenario/questions that they ask rather than you asking them questions. But the book also says that people do ask clarifying questions to reiterate the scenario with the interviewer to make sure that they understood the scenario correctly because if your response doesn't correctly address the scenario, it means zilch.

I guess for example saying "I just want to make sure that I am understanding the scenario correctly. This scenario is asking me to X, is that correct?"

I guess if they specifically ask you if you have any questions, that's fair game 🙂

I feel the same way. Its weird that only one person might have heard back today. It is possible they were just posting their invite late? It seemed like last year that Michigan did three waves last year including the initial send out in December.

Last year I also feel like I remember the last wave of interviews also coming with the last wave of rejections.

Fingers crossed for everyone waiting to hear news that it comes promptly!

For out of staters interviewing on the 24th, I'll see some of you for a tour. And on the 31st I'll be on the student panel. Excited to see you all!!!

Dress warmly.

Hey guys, I know it’s hard but remain positive! Today is only the 5th day after the final wave was sent out last year, don’t forget the 14% increase in applicants. They just need a little more time than they needed in the past. Keep the positive vibes, we got it!!

Does it mean you're less competative or less likely to get in, if you're in later waves?
Not sure if this has been answered already or not.
It just means you may have been at the bottom of the stack of applications to be reviewed. It doesn't affect your chances of being accepted. It may have more to do about when your vmcas was verified/received than anything else

I was hoping it was like that or by last name since mine is towards the end of the alphabet.

I feel like no one really knows how the separate and review applicants, but, based on last years thread it doesn’t seem like a later interview invite affected acceptance.

for what it's worth - last year, in-state applicants found out their admissions status before christmas. this year, we (in-state) still don't know our status and have been informed that there is no estimated date when we will know at this point. things are obviously slower this year. it's not time to panic.

Has anyone ever attended the Zoom workshops? How helpful were they and what all did they go over?

Also OOS rejected 🙁 Kinda upsetting that they made us wait until the very last wave just for a rejection.

OOS rejected, kinda surprised? Does anyone how many OOS students they interview?

Does anybody know if Michigan ever waitlists? If there's absolutely 0 chance of an interview at this point, I'm going to formally accept my offer to another school.

I don't think they wait list for interviews, only acceptances.

For those of you upset, just a reminder that applying to vet school is kind of a crap shoot. I see so many canidates on here who got interviews to places I didn't and the same candidates not getting interviews for schools i did get interviews for. Don't give up!

Sorry about the rejection 🙁

This is for the class of 2023. Looks like the class of 2022 was very similar in the number of people they interviewed.
