Does anyone know how the IS waitlist has moved in the past? I know they said last year was a slow moving year but what about the year before?

I think it moved less the last two years than it did in the two years before that (when I was applying) but what it did last year isn't necessarily an indication of what it will do this year. Every year is different.

I was #24 on the waitlist last year and only moved about 12 spots during the summer.

Anyone signed up for the zoom workshop this Friday and has not been sent the link yet? They said they would send it a week before...

Yes, me. I signed up and haven’t heard anything... I emailed them today about it, but haven’t heard back. I’m not sure what to do because I was really looking forward to it to learn how to improve my application, but without a link you can’t join a zoom session.

Based on the example MMI interview video on the website, a series of questions is being asked in that one room. I was wondering (if you're allowed to disclose this information) if you get to read these questions in the 2 minutes beforehand, or is it one scenario that you're getting?

You're just reading the scenario. You get asked the questions when you go into the interview room.

Have you guys yet heard about your zoom workshop?

I submitted my intent to enroll several weeks ago and have heard nothing. The radio silence from this office makes me nervous.

I talked to someone yesterday and they said once everything has been submitted (application, intent, and deposit) they will then send us another email with further information.

Did anyone who is interviewing this Friday (2/21) get the email confirming whether you have outstanding pre-reqs? They said they would send it a week before and I didn’t get anything...just paranoid lol

Is anyone bringing a change of clothes after the MMI? I’m mostly concerned about my shoes getting muddy lol

There wasn't anywhere for your shoes to get muddy but if you're wearing heels, I changed into my sperry duck boots after and it didn't matter. There's a room to keep your stuff in that no one will bother while you're there

Does MSU waitlist their out of state students as well? And if so, does anyone know how much the list has moved in the past few years for out of state students?

Yes. I believe they have gotten into the 80s over the past couple of years. I would do a search of the classes of 2023, 2022, and beyond if you're interested ("Michigan State c/o 20XX," in the search bar).

A girl at my interview said she was around 20 and only made it to 5 last year (if I remember correctly).

I was OOS #36 and made it in 3 days after the deposit deadline. I’m pretty sure it slowed quickly after me though. My friend was high 50s and was the last to be pulled into the class 2 weeks before school started.

I stand corrected re: my post. I think I was thinking of someone in the class of 2022 cycle who started at #85 or so and got to #1 and never made it in. I wasn't sure about last year.

On the topic of waitlists, does anyone know the typical movement of the IS waitlist? I'm waitlisted fairly high (or low-- not sure how to word it), and haven't been able to find much on IS waitlist movement.

I don't have any specific information, but unfortunately I doubt the list moves much for in-state. At most, I'd think maybe 10-15 spots. Unless people are going through some serious life changes that preclude them from going to vet school after having gone through the application process and getting accepted, I doubt they would give up an in-state seat.

That said, some in-state students have their eyes on other schools. There might be some of those who give up an IS seat. Either way, I hope it works out for you either at MSU or Purdue or wherever else you were waitlisted - rooting for you! I went through this last year and know exactly how you're feeling. If you don't make it off any waitlists this year, there's always the next cycle. Stay positive and do what you can to improve your application and interview skills 🙂

This was extremely helpful, thank you! I’m right in the sweet spot where I could have a chance or be right outside the typical movement. I’m holding on hope, but if not the extra year would be helpful to determining if I have interest in potentially pursing a DVM/PhD!

So I was waitlisted last year at #24 and I ended at #12. It moved like 12 spots in the first couple weeks and then stayed stagnant after that. Good luck, we’re rooting for you!!!

They told us they hope to get decisions sent out by email sometime next week (didn’t specify a day). The wait is killing me!!
Me too! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I've been so good about not thinking about it since January, but this week the anxiety hit me.

I feel exactly the same! I won’t be surprised though if they were not able to get back to us next week. I know with the increase in applicants, they have been behind on all parts of their interviewing process this year. But fingers crossed! Good luck to everyone!

Agreed, but they said they will let us know if it looks like they won’t make it out that week, so hopefully we will get an email update of some sort!!

I would think they are still interviewing the same amount of people though. Last year they found out March 1st if I remember the c/ 2023 thread correctly.

Interviewed on the 24th and still haven't got one yet haha

Seems like they forgot about us Jan 24th interview folks :joyful:

They didn't forget about anyone. By that logic, they've forgotten the people who they already accepted lol. (in-state people, don't panic)

As I've mentioned previously, the office seems to be understaffed and has an insane amount of applicants. They will get back to you. It just takes a lot of time. As it would when dealing with literally any bureaucratic organization. Not to sound cliche, but patience really is a virtue.

I was just making a light joke since I've been wondering about that post interview survey for a month. MSU CVM has been nothing but pleasant 🙂

Just got an email saying they are still evaluating interviewees from last week so we may not hear back this week. Good luck to us all!

That's the impression I got too. I appreciate that they're keeping us updated!

My heart may or may not have stopped beating for a minute there though.
