How long does AZCOM take to make a decision after an interview?

How long does AZCOM take to make a decision after an interview?

Depends on your "block." Groups of interview sessions are blocked together for final review by the ADCOMs. Each block is reviewed immediately after that block's last interview session. For example, I was in the last interview session for my block and found out about 3 hours after I was finished ON THE DAY OF MY INTERVIEW 😱 So I would say anywhere from immediately up to 2 weeks after.

That is fantastic! 😀

Booked my hotel reservation for my interview on the 20th! This is exciting!

I've heard a lot about the SuperShuttle for getting to the school/hotel from the airport. Will SuperShuttle drop you off at specific hotels? And do you need to make reservations in advance, or do you just show up and tell them where you need to go?

It will drop you off at hotels and you should book it in advance. I booked mine last week to take me to my hotel from the airport.

Wow that's amazing! Did they call you or was it on the online portal? That means for those of us that have interviews within the next week or two, we can know within a month if we're gonna be doctors 😱

Accepted Student Checklist will show up on your portal.

Wow, that would be nuts to know the day of. Do they follow the aacomas timelines for accepting the acceptance, or is it like LECOM where you have to decide within 30 days?

Aacomas timeline I believe

For those who have gotten II's - how long after your II showed up in the portal did you get an email about it? I'm trying to stop myself from obsessively checking the portal, so I'm thinking about just not checking it and waiting for the email. If the email comes a week later, though, I probably won't do that. Thanks.

do they give lunch or b/f during the interview day? anyone?

I got my email the next day, but I know some people never got the email. I think this school is just bad about sending out emails.

Both. The breakfast is kinda weak, but the lunch is great. B/f is like bagels/danish/milk/juice/coffee I think (continental). Lunch is a $8 voucher to the cafeteria and the food there is pretty good. It was much better than my "lunch" from LECOM which consisted of a community salad + something else that was equally unimpressive.

I actually never got an email about it (and the invite was nearly a month ago). I'd advise you to continue to check the portal obsessively, I know I am for CCOM

Ok thanks guys. Looks like I'll keep checking it. 😳

I hope some of you guys get to interview with Dr. Peppo, he's awesome.

I got waitlisted =/ I am happy, though, that they didn't just reject me. I just got a letter from a professor there who is one of their oro-maxillo surgeons. He said he would send it to the dean, so I'm hoping it will be enough to get me off that list! *fingers crossed*

you already had an ii there?

No, they sent me a letter via snail mail saying my application was placed on hold for further consideration. They did say it should be viewed as a positive thing though. I don't know how good the odds are of coming off that list but I'd rather be waitlisted than rejected 👍

Got an II! 😀

Got an email at like 3:30 in the morning - woke up a very happy person hahaha. Figures i get one on the ONLY afternoon/night that I'm not checking the portal like a psycho 🙄

Scheduled for Monday 10/15 and complete 8/7

Same haha. I got the email at 2:30 (Central time zone represent!). See you there on the 15th DrMeows!

Bet your happy you didn't withdraw, huh?! haha

Good luck, man!

Haha thanks! Still think i have a better shot with the other places I'm interviewing at though....even if midwestern is in my top 2.

You will be fine, man. Represent for us under 27's! I'm hoping I'll be able to join you guys soon. :xf:

Booked my hotel today, I waited awhile because I know that this hotel has pretty big discounts when you get closer.

It all is starting to feel real! :scared:

Also I spoke with the Dean, Dr. Kemper today a bit about a new rotation site they are opening up soon. She's working with Sharp Grossmont hospital to setup an alternate rotation site in San Diego, CA. Yes, San Diego. All she needs is Sharp Grossmont Hospital to get on board and she expects San Diego will open for all CORE rotations for Class 2015 and beyond. The reason for this is that she is disappointed in the L.A. rotations as they are spread out and she feels a lack of control in the quality of rotations in that area.

It also helps that a physician from San Diego is working hard with AZCOM to set this up so that his son (in my class of 2016) can rotate in San Diego.
Yay! I'm from San Diego. This would be amazing. I just got the e-mail to say my secondary was completed yesterday! Crossing my fingers for an II.

So now I'm just going to be checking my portal obsessively until I get either a rejection or an invitation. Do they only have interviews on weekdays?

I don't know of a single school that conducts interviews on weekends - they do them during normal business hours for the school offices so I don't think you're going to find any school that does.

Western Pomona does

Interview Invite here! =] Got it a few days ago at like 3:30 Am.

October 11th! let me know if anyone else is gonna be there that day

October 15th > October 11th 😛

Haha sweet! Any of you planning on meeting up for dinner the night before?

Haven't thought that far in advance! Don't know if I'm traveling alone or not yet. If I end up going alone I'd definitely be down for dinner the night before if people want to 🙂

I submitted my secondary a few days after retaking the MCAT on 7/14... my original score was a 10B/10P/7V... my retake was a 10B/10P/11V which I got on 8/14.

GPA 3.62 /3.47 (sci), only an MD letter and two science professor letters. Limited volunteer experience, almost two years of experience working as an ER scribe (best pre-med experience ever), limited ECs. So my numbers are pretty decent, but my extra stuff is lacking. I hope it doesn't put me back too much.

I got an interview invite to AZCOM and KCOM this past saturday. I scheduled my interview for 10/16. Need to book my plane tickets from Richmond, VA. Probably gonna head out on 10/13 and stay with my Grandma in Apache Junction, and return on a red-eye on 10/16.

I know this has been asked before, but what are the stats for accepted after having an interview. I'm trying to figure out my chances before submitting any additional apps/secondaries. I rank AZCOM higher than KCOM on my list, so if I was accepted there, I wouldn't go to my KCOM interview. Now if I happened to get accepted at CCOM and AZCOM I'd have some real choices to make! I haven't submitted my ATSU-SOMA Secondary, and probably wont. I don't think I can afford two trips to the phoenix area should I get an interview there. I'll wait and see I think.

Application on hold.

As someone said earlier, I'd rather be wait listed than outright rejected!

Hoping for some AZCOM love later on in the cycle!

Complete as of this afternoon. Anyone have an estimate on a time frame between being complete and getting an invite/rejection? I'll probably check the portal daily anyway, but just wondering in case I can take a week off 🙂

You have a really good chance if you don't bomb the interview.

I don't know about everyone else, but after I got the complete email, I got the invite 18 days later. I'm not sure if that's the norm though.

I got my interview invite 6 days after being complete...I don't know if that's the norm either haha

Congrats to all who have gotten interviews!

I've been complete for almost two weeks now. Waiting as patiently as I can. 😀
