Midwestern University c/o 2018 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just want to say that it takes time for VMCAS to verify your transcripts (I sent mine in on Sept 9th and it took two weeks, your sending even later would take any where from 2 weeks to a month or more), and then it'll take time for it to be sent to Midwestern (week or so), and then more time for them to review your applicatoin. Supplemental or rejection, Midwestern is actually pretty quick to reply once they've gotten all your materials (got an email that they've received all my materials one day then got the supplemental 2 days later). But as some would say, no news is good news... 🙂

Wish you the best of luck!
Thanks for that... but I had submit it far earlier and all of my transcripts were approved back in early September... I meant more that it was submit by the deadline... not on the deadline... I'm so confused! haha

I would probably follow up with them, I don't think it will hurt!

Download the historical cost of education data from the VIN article or read the UFCVM policy for non-sponsored students. Your statement is incorrect.

Does someone who has already been to Midwestern have any real information about this?

Bearing in mind that all of the different programs are in charge of their own budgets and increases based on their own needs/wants, to my knowledge, each program at MWU raises tuition annually. For the DO program, tuition has gone up by 5% each year (they always cite reasons such as rising energy, insurance, and faculty retention costs as the basis for a need to raise the price) and the student services fee has increased annually as well for all students.

Still no word, been about 3 weeks. Assuming rejection letter is in the mail. 🙁

I just finally submitted my supplemental today. Anyone else submit theirs recently, or will be submitting soon? I know interview invites/admissions are rolling, but can anyone tell me approx. how long after submitting your supplemental you received your invite?

Is anyone else aware that one could still apply to Midwestern, even WITHOUT VMCAS? I am debating on doing so. What was the supplemental like, everyone? It looks like everyone who got interviews was very impressed!

Just came home to a letter from Midwestern, very small. I looked at it for a long time & then sighed & opened it, skimmed it briefly.....
BUT was not a rejection, I'm on the alternate list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yay!
I know that isn't such a big deal to some people, but right now, it is rocking my world!!!! I'm so happy not to be rejected!!!
Lord only knows if they'll ever get anywhere near to me on that list, but at least I'm on it!!! I'll take it & rejoice!!

I got my invitiation e-mail today! Just like you guys said...2 days after submitting my supplemental! I will be going Wed. Feb. 26. I'll be flying in solo...any hotel/transportation recommendations for those of you who have already interviewed and had to travel as well?

I highly recommend the Drury Inn - complimentary popcorn, drinks, alcohol, and breakfast and dinner buffets - all for ~70$ a night with the Midwestern discount! 😀

Free popcorn! w00t! ^_^

Hey everyone! Im new here, but I wanted to thank everyone for all the info. A big congadulations to all those who got accepted and all those who continue striving for their goals!

I will be attending Midwestern as a transfer student! I look forward to meeting all my new classmates.

Since I am alternate at CSU (super big YAY!!!!!!), probably won't accept if they offer me a spot off the waitlist at Midwestern. Midwestern only give you 72 hours to respond that you're accepting their offer if you're taken from the waitlist, I don't know if that is normal? Feel for any waitlisters out there sitting at home wondering & fretting about making an abrupt relocation weeks before school starts.

Most schools only give you like 48 hours notice. I got called off wait lists at two schools when I applied and I had about a 48 hour window to make a decision. I'd say that 72 hours is pretty standard.

About 77 have been accepted.

Congrats Kelbis! Looks like we will be fellow classmates! I am so incredibly excited to be going to Midwestern!
Where are you coming from? I am also curious if the number after our email address corresponds with where we fell in "accepting" their offer.

I am coming from Colorado. How about you?

The email address number is an interesting idea. I have number 44, and I sent in my deposit about two weeks ago.

I'm coming from California. Number 75 for me and I just submitted my deposit two days ago. Looking forward to meeting you!

random question, but is anyone who has been accepted not going to have their degree when they start vet school?
i just finished my interview at midwestern and i will not have a degree if i am accepted and start next fall (I'm a junior in college right now), i was just wondering if there is anyone else in this position who was accepted so i can know what my chances are of getting in with no degree.

thanks 🙂

I am so mad, I arrived to Phoenix, Arizona late last night for my interview tomorrow morning. The stupid airline "delayed" my baggage and now I have no idea when I will get it and if I'll get it on time for my interview. Because of them I might need to go buy a complete interview outfit today, the only clothes I have are a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and a sweater right now. Not to mention I go to Virginia for an interview there after my interview at Midwestern. This is horrible, I don't need this stress right now.😡:boom:

Did your luggage ever arrive? This sounds like an absolute nightmare

could someone tell me how many students are being accepted

It really was... I was so tired from the flight I couldn't even be mad, not that that would have gotten me anywhere as who knows what happened and who's fault it was. I finally got my luggage yesterday in the evening. I was glad to be able to change clothes... Not to mention have my interview clothes.

I also just finished interviewing at Midwestern, I have no doubt in my mind that they will be accredited. All the staff is so friendly, makes things so much easier and less nerve-wracking.

I'm officially accepted to midwestern 🙂
just waiting to hear from my final vet school MSU, but I'm pretty sure ill be attending midwestern next fall.
can't wait to meet all of my class mates!!

I got an interview for either Feb 5 or March 5. Feb 5 is going to be hard to figure out with work, but I am afraid if I wait until March 5 I will be just interviewing for the waitlist. Thoughts?

I think sooner is probably better.

Off to AZ today! Super excited for my interview tomorrow 🙂
Hi sblove, have you heard anything at all yet? I interviewed Jan. 16th, they said they had a committee meeting on the 17th and we would therefore hear real quick about decisions. I'm still anxiously waiting.

Hi! Yes - I was accepted 🙂 🙂 🙂I got a phone call and an email. Did your portal change at all? Good luck!!!!

Hi all....congrats to everyone who got accepted! Although I am extremely jealous :/ I am on the waitlist for midwestern. does anyone know how many people have confirmed their spots and how many are currently on the waitlist?

is anyone thinking about, or know of any good housing options in Glendale? sorry this is early, in Michigan we start in october with apartment leases so i just want to make sure I'm able to find something 🙂

There are a bunch of apartments near the campus and they're building those new apartments on campus as well. They look like they'll be really nice!!

On a totally separate note....has anyone who interviewed on Tues. Jan. 21st heard back yet? I know it has only been 3 days, but I'm so excited to hear from them! To those who have been accepted, how were you notified and how many days after your interview did it happen??

I interviewed on Jan 21st also and have not heard anything yet.. But I am super excited too!

Congratulations sblove! I was really impressed by the school. When did you hear from them? They told me they'd probably contact me through email since I live in Germany but nothing yet, no changes in the portal either. Hmmm... I also emailed Krista on Monday but haven't heard anything back. I'm kinda expecting the worst now. 🙁

Anyone else interview on the 16th like I did? Any news?

Try clicking on the "accepted student checklist" and see if it allows you to view anything. I interviewed on the 16th and noticed the change on the portal at night on the 17th

I tried that and nothing, it just says "This checklist is available to accepted applicants" so I'm guessing I didn't get in or get on the waitlist. Did we meet during the interview? I'm really bad with names. So you got in?

It took them about two-three weeks to send me a letter that I was on the waitlist. I think that the area that shows that I met all the prereqs changed a bit before I received the letter. Not positive, though, maybe it does that for everyone? I got despondent and stopped checking the portal and then glanced at it again the day before the letter came and noticed that it had all my prerequs. listed out and how many credits I had in each. I thought, "Hum?"Don't give up hope yet! It may still work out for ya!

Guess I'll just have to wait and see. I just wanted to know already since they said we would all find out really soon. If I was rejected or placed on the waitlist I'd like to know at the same time instead of having to wait around for bad news. Oh well.

I also interviewed on the 16th. I heard back on tuesday that i was accepted 🙂 via email and they also called and left a voicemail. Good Luck, hopefully you hear soon! Maybe it's taking longer since your a different country?

Question to other's that have been accepted, do we need to resend our transcripts to the school? I graduated 4 years ago and sent all my transcripts to VMCAS application, so nothing would have changed... but it appeared on the accepted checklist that we may need to send them directly to the school?

Yes, I graduated a little over a year ago so nothing changed for me either. They still want you to send official copies of all transcripts. 🙂

I heard contradicting information.. I asked about transcripts over the phone and they said that they already had all of our transcripts from vmcas and to just send any updated ones to Midwestern.
