I’ve heard that these interviews are more conversational and lower stress than at other schools, but I would love someone to confirm that! Were the questions this year mostly about each person’s background/application or were there some behavioral or knowledge questions thrown in too? Thanks guys! I’m also interviewing this week and I am super nervous!! My first interview this cycle. Something about it being virtual is definitely adding to my anxiety too haha
 
I pretty much will echo what others have said. I absolutely love Mississippi State and the tone of the school comes across very well via the zoom party and interview day. I would encourage you to ask questions you may have during the zoom party and interact. As for the actual interview, and they cover this that day, only one of your interviewers is on the committee and has access to your folder, the others are blind. State also does a good job of vetting the outside interviewers per se. So the majority of my questions were focused on my research and what I have learned, typical questions ranging from my own experiences with volunteerism, teamwork, adversity. I was asked about financials but I had brought up the topic. All in all, it truly is a relaxed conversational interview. I know in the past on SDN people have posted that they were asked how to place a catheter or extremely ethical questions but I never got a question like that. Just know what you put on your application and be able to expand on the person you are beyond what was on the paper. Also, download zoom ahead of time and mess around with it. I attend State currently and we always you WebEx so I played around on zoom the night before the zoom party so I knew how to navigate it and it was already on my machine.
 
I was so nervous before too, but it went by so fast, I was like wait it's over? They truly want to get to know you as an individual and ask questions about you as a person. I didn't have any questions regarding certain diseases or technical abilities. We talked a lot about my plans in the future and my volunteer work! Take a deep breath, you guys got this! Highly recommend attending the zoom party the night before as well!
 
If they follow the trend of OOS invites it will be around 3 weeks before the interview date. I believe the interview for instate is early Feburary like the 3rd? So you'll most likely hear mid-January!
 
I am hoping they will start making OOS phone calls before the university closes for the break on Dec 22nd! Fingers crossed!

They said during the last round of interviews that a few people will be notified no later than the 22nd and that everyone else will be notified about a week after the in-state interviews!
 
Ahhh, I hope we all get good news soon!! Does anyone know how they evaluate applicants once the interviews have been completed?

Not really, I know they admissions committee meets after interviews and they discuss and rank (I think).
But they don’t really have a point break down like other schools.
I have also noticed that is seems after you are interviewed and if you don’t get in then you can go in the waitlist and there can be movement there. My positive thinking is to be top 5 in the waitlist 😂😂
 
Anyone heard anything today? I’m thinking most likely I won’t hear anything until February, as I’m not really sure what qualities they are looking for in their “top applicants” to receive earlier acceptance.
 
Nope, nothing here. I figured I probably wouldn’t hear until February, but there was still that small part of me hoping that I’d get an email today lol

Well I guess it's a no for me! Why is this process so stressful lol?
 
For those of y’all who got an acceptance call..when did she say we would get emails? I was in shock and kind of stopped listening halfway through the call lol

congrats y’all!! I’ll be a first year too 🥳 if you have questions about the area or start looking for housing let me know !!! I live with a current first year (will be a 2nd year when we start) and we will need a roomie 🤩
 
Got my email confirmation just now! Glad to know this is real and I didn’t just imagine the phone call happening lol

For the accepted OOS students, it’s sounding like they are going to have things in person in June from the email they sent? Finger crossed!!

So do we start on the 21st or the 23rd??? 🤣 Or do we have class before orientation? Hmmmmm

You will likely start 6/21 and once you’re here they will do orientation! Don’t quote me on that but that is what our class (1st years) did because of COVID.

Definitely not! During my interview they said that the majority of their OOS acceptances will go out in mid-February after they conduct the IS interviews. So as long as you’ve interviewed already, you’re still in the running. No news is good news!

Right? I was freaking out. What does "invited student" mean? Why would they send this if we aren't accepted? I got the email but not a call. Last year I was waitlisted but did not receive this email? At this point I'm scared to get my hopes up and I'm just confused.

this email raised my hopes up as well but it seems that they have sent it to all they have interviewed or will interview...

I got mine this evening! Call around 3 email at 5:30.

What is the area code they call from? Does it come up from Mississippi? Normally I don’t answer unknown callers with all the spammers lately, now I’m freaking out I might miss a call or did miss one

It’s a Mississippi area code. I have an iPhone and the caller ID even said Mississippi St.
