Haha that'd be nice! I have a friend from UG that is also waiting to hear from VMRCVM. I'm so glad I fell in love with Mizzou bc if not I'd be waiting until march/ April to hear from my IS-UTK.... That would be unbearable!!

You are preaching to the choir here It is terrible!! But I am loving Mizzou more and more and I'm so glad I decided to apply- just kind of applied on a whim knowing nothing about the school. Seems like such a great fit for me! 😍

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was thoroughly unimpressed by Illinois. We didn't even stay for the information session lol. None of the schools I have visited have had such an impression on me like Mizzou did. I think I'm getting closer and closer to accepting 😀

got waitlisted at my in-state (which was like mizzou >>>>> my IS school based on my preferences), so now don't have to even think "what if" money-wise!

My big day is Friday. Really really really saying my prayers. Looks like I will be on two waitlists that have the potential of moving along, but I really want to be at Mizzou. Both for financial reasons and because I really think it is the best school for me. I just hope I can convince them I can cut it!

My fiance is going to be moving with me wherever I ultimately decide to go (getting married in July 🙂 ). If we go to Mizzou, we will be 6 hours away from family, and he will have a full-time job, so it's not really feasible to go home for a weekend. He's also a bit concerned about meeting people since he's the spouse and won't be taking classes with all these new people. Obviously he will meet people through work, but he would like to get to know the group I will be hanging out with as well. Has anyone had a SO who has gone through this situation? Also, how has everyone dealt with the distance from family?

My SO was a little different because he is in med school here too, but as far as getting to know my classmates, it has been no problem. We have lots of shindigs right off the bat for people to get to know each other. Traditionally, the second years organize a welcome picnic the weekend before classes start, and another get together after the first anatomy exam. Significant others are more than welcome to attend pretty much everything, and I definitely met a lot of peoples' other halves at such events. My friends and I also have had quite a few potlucks and most of us have dragged our SO's to those. The Graduate Professional Council also hosts socials that we are invited to, most of which are held at local bars.

Edit: Speaking from the SO perspective (since he started med school a year before me), it also wasn't difficult for me to get to know his classmates from similar things 🙂

As far as distance from family, I can't speak on that. I'm only 2 hours from home, but I'm not a homesick type and am really really bad about making any sort of trips home unless I have to 😳

Not yet. I'm letting my pros/cons lists sit while I'm studying for my four exams next week. Then I'm going to come back to them (distraction free), talk with my fiance and family, and make my final decision. It's getting so much closer to being official though!!

Ohio State and Mizzou. I haven't heard from Michigan State or Oklahoma State yet and just finished my interview at Illinois, but I don't think any of those will sway my decision. A lot of my debate is focused on distance, cost, and farm animal medicine opportunities. I'm also waitlisted at Iowa State and Purdue, so once I have my deposit down somewhere, I may get off the waitlist at one of these also. Then I have more decisions to make, but as of right now, it's between OSU and Mizzou.

Dr. Berent just said that interviews are canceled because the university and the CVM are closed tomorrow, and they will reschedule! I'm sure they'll contact you but just wanted to let you know if you haven't already heard 🙂

Not that I am aware of. I have used my Sony Vaio for all of my undergrad years. So, whatever works for you should be fine. You can always check out the Technology tab at the bookstore website www.mubookstore.com

👍 No requirements. And the vet school's IT is awesome because if you bring your computer to them, they will help you connect to campus wireless (which campus does a poor job of describing to you) and will set up the VPN for you.

I'm almost 100% sure I'm buying another Macbook for vet school. My current laptop is now over 5 years old and has almost no memory left. Still runs awesome, though (it is a Macbook, too!) I just love Macs and I cannot see myself with any other type of computer after seeing some of the things my best friend went through with her computer crashing on her many many times.

I'm on pins and needles like everyone else, lol. Because of the snow and having to reschedule interviews, everything's being pushed back. Originally, I had heard interviews are going until March 15 but today a classmate of mine told me her's is March 18 sooooo...yea.
