MPH prior to or during med school?

Hi all,

My stats are as follows:
CGPA 3.5
SGPA 3.1
MCAT 27(7,11,9) will probably retake this spring

I would have to apply next spring and am not the most confident with those stats, and while I have some experience it is nothin compared to most sdners. Should I take an MPH program and then apply to med school? Is this the wrong path? There are DO schools that have mph programs as I highly doubt I could get into an md program with that sgpa, even with a higher mcat. What are your thoughts?
