2023-2024 Chicago Med (Rosalind Franklin)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
The group chat is only at 123 and I think past years were around 205 so there’s def movement to come. Last year was similar where mid June was silent and then there was a huge wave end of June and another decently sized wave beginning of July and then after that it trickled down.

Current M4 at the school, happy to answer any questions incoming students may have to the best of my abilities.

Hi! Could you comment on the quality of the rotations and how to choose which hospitals to rotate at? It sounds like people move around Chicago quite a bit since RFU doesn’t have a home hospital.

I'm not going to sugarcoat the fact that not having a dedicated home hospital is a bit of a nuisance at times. However, I would say I'm happy overall with the quality of our rotation sites. The different hospitals give you the chance to see a wide range of patients from all backgrounds, and I never had a complaint about the educational quality. Even at the "worst" sites, there's plenty of opportunity to learn.

Regarding distance, it's not too big of a deal outside of family medicine. Some of the FM sites are truly terrible in terms of commute. Admin told us they're trying their best to get more options, but it is something to be prepared for when the time comes. Other than that, the other sites aren't too bad to commute to. My advice would be to get your apartment settled early, so you can target rotations with decent commute times. Just from my experience, outside of FM and the specialty of my interest where I chose the best educational opportunity, my commutes were all within 15 minutes of my West Loop apartment.

Did you join the GroupMe? I believe there are still people looking for roommates

Just withdrew my application here. Truly loved the students and the faculty. I would highly recommend CMS to any prospective students in the future.

Did anyone attend Admitted Student's day in April 2024? And could tell me what the agenda was like? Two days? How long on the second day? Can parents attend any Finance discussion?
