Thank you @bruskimp for sharing this year’s prompts:

All have changed from last year

All 150 words

1. How would you manage a situation where a family member or close friend made
a sexist, racist, or prejudiced comment in your presence?

2. What has been your greatest self-discovery?

3. What event(s) from your youth still teaches you lessons today? How do you
apply what you learned?

4. Give five reasons why you would make an excellent physician?

5. What is the greatest act of kindness you have ever performed for someone?

Good luck to all applying!

Are you guys approaching these questions by tying them into "why medicine?" or strictly answering the prompts?

That is unnecessary, as that is what your personal statement is for. I would answer the questions as stated and not get too flowery or delve into irrelevant topics. I think the answers to these questions will help them understand your "why medicine" more in addition to your personal statement, although, you don't have to directly tie it in here.

So if we haven't gotten RFU's secondary by now does that mean it's a pre-secondary rejection? Or do they send it in waves?

They send it in waves. You can check MSAR to confirm they send secondaries to everyone or if they screen.

I just got an obscure email from CMS saying they are missing some documents I must submit today. I just got my secondary invitation an hour ago... Did anyone else get an email like this?

Anyone else having issues getting in with their temporary pin?

Question: I filled out the other impactful experiences part of AMCAS where I talked about growing up low SES and taking care of a sick family member. I also received reduced lunch as a child but didn’t write about this. However I’m not marked as low SES or disadvantaged my AMCAS as my family’s finances and situation have improved greatly within the past 5-6 years (and since my parents both have graduate degrees). For the question “Do you wish to be considered as a disadvantaged applicant by any of your designated programs that may consider such factors? (Economic, environmental, educational) as part of the review process?” Should I put yes or no? I’m leaning towards no because I don’t feel particularly disadvantaged now, but I’m not sure if the question is getting at my childhood as well. Thanks!

I saw that RF said that a letter packet should only contain 3 letters. If mine has more than 3 in the packet, should I have my premed advisor send another one with only 3 letters?

I am confused about the second question. Is it asking what the greatest thing that I discovered about myself?

I want to discuss a specific instance of #5, but I already used it in my primary. 😒

For the "5 reasons" question... are you guys making a list? Just naming qualities and describing how you embody them? Giving an anecdote about an experience?

I think you could either make a numbered list or discuss it in paragraph form. Either works in my eyes, as long as its clear and adds to your story. 🙂

I made a list and then did a short sentence about how it applies to being a doctor, but I'm not sure what they're looking for.

Y'all, how much are we writing for these short responses? For example the first one, I have 90 words out of 150.
Worried my responses are too succinct.

I also was able to use 140-150 words, HOWEVER it is better to have 90 quality words than 90 quality words + 50 fluff words. If you have nothing more to say, thats okay, too!

I'm working on the fourth question right now, and it's so frustrating! I don't know how much more succinct I can possibly be with my writing!
