NC State University c/o 2021 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How can we verify GRE scores were received by NC State? I understand there has been some problems with the GRE portal, so I just wanted to make sure we're covered.
Thank you

We are beyond that point now that the deadline is one week away. The NC State CVM Student Services Office will send a "receipt of credentials" email once all VMCAS applications are loaded into our admissions software.

All admissions questions can be sent to: [email protected]

With the deadline this week, please e-mail any questions you have to: [email protected]

Please do not call into the office.

We look forward to receiving your application!

IMPORTANT REMINDER - NC State Supplemental and VMCAS Applications

*24 to 48 hours to go until the deadline to apply for the 2017 admissions cycle*

The supplemental application is accessible at: https://cvm.ncsu.edu/education/dvm/admission/apply/

Access it on your own. You will not be prompted to complete an application by the Student Services Office.

The supplemental application deadline is Friday, September 16 at 1:00pm ET.

The VMCAS deadline is Thursday, September 15 at 11:59pm ET.

Hello all! 🙂

My name is Ashley, I'm from Illinois and I'm excited about my application to NC State this cycle! I can't wait to meet each of you and best of luck to all :luck:

We are 70 minutes from the NC State supplemental application deadline. Here are some reminders:

1. The application will close at 1:00pm ET
2. Please use Firefox or Google Chrome as your web browser. Our application doesn't work well with Safari.
3. If assistance is needed, please e-mail the office at: <[email protected]> Include all pertinent information (Name, VMCAS ID, issue, supporting documentation) regarding your inquiry.
4. We are unable to assist via the phone.

The Student Services Office is sending the "receipt of credentials" e-mail beginning this week for the applications we've received from VMCAS thus far.

This may take several weeks to complete so please be patient with us.

If assistance is needed, please e-mail the office at: <[email protected]>

Include all pertinent information (Name, VMCAS ID, issue, supporting documentation) regarding your inquiry.

The Student Servives Office has received 874 applications from VMCAS and has sent the "Receipt of Credentials" notification to those applicants.

NC State expects to receive another 2-3 dozen applications once they funnel through the verification process.

Edit: Nevermind! Edited to remove question- I just saw in the receipt of credentials email that we will be notified if we're disqualified.

Application processing is underway. Applicants will receive updates via e-mail.

Thanks for keeping us updated!

If you know any high school students who have an interest in veterinary medicine, please advise them of University Open House, to be held this Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 9am to 2pm.

So will we be receiving a notification that we made it to the next round of reviews? Or is it better that we don't receive news in this case? Thanks!!!

At this point, we reach out to applicants if there is an issue regarding admissions requirements.

So, in this case, no news is good news regarding forward movement of your application.

I know I really hope I get a interview here it's such a beautiful campus

Please don't forget to submit fall transcripts (if applicable) as soon as Fall 2016 grades are posted on your transcript.

Thank you for the reminder. This may be a silly question- I am currently enrolled at NC State for prerequisite classes, do I still send a transcript from NC State directly to CVM, after my grades are finalized or how does that work? Thank you in advance.

When will you be notifying students of acceptance/rejections? I know I heard it is around April for acceptances, but will rejections be notified earlier in the review cycle? Thanks!

All applicants must submit updated transcripts regardless of the institution. Therefore, NC State undergraduate students must request a transcript to be sent to the NC State CVM Student Services Office.

The Student Services Office has already contacted applicants who have been disqualified from consideration due to failure to meet admissions requirements.

If an applicant hasn't received a disqualification e-mail, his or her application is moving to the next stage of review. Once vetted by the Faculty Committee on Admissions for a decision, all applicants will be informed of admission, waitlist status or denial at the same time.

We will notify applicants no later than April 1 but hopefully sooner as we are further along on our timeline than anticipated. I won't provide a projected date in case there is a delay for any reason.

Your patience is appreciated!

Initial screening for both Non-Resident and NC Resident applications is complete.

Non-Resident applications will soon move to the committee review stage.

NC Resident alt eligibility applications will also move to the review stage. All other NC Resident applications will wait for the committee review stage (this will begin after the Non-Resident review is complete).

Fond memories. Four years ago, I got an email in the middle of a class saying that I was disqualified because my e-transcript never arrived. Marched right out of that class and called NC State admissions - I had a receipt for that sucker! Definitely got my blood pumping, though.

Good luck to you all! This is the best vet school in every way that counts, and I'm beyond happy here. I love it more with every passing year.

I don't know if anyone can answer this, but I am currently taking an honors class and writing a 50 page thesis.... The problem is they tell me everyone in this class always takes an incomplete, and then gets a grade sometime during the spring semester. I'm worried because I have to send in my transcripts for the fall semester's When they see the incomplete for that class, will that be frowned upon by the admissions committee?

I'm sure it'll be fine. If you're worried, just email admissions for the schools you applied to and let them know the reason for the I.

Also, not that it's a big deal or anything, but it's best to just post a question in one thread and only repeat if it's been a while and it hasn't been answered.

Ok, thank you and sorry about that. I'm new here. I wasn't sure where the best place to post would be. I removed it from the other thread. 😉

ATTENTION - Any 2017 cycle applicants who attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Student Services Office will be speaking with the Pre-Vet Club tonight (Monday, November 7).

Details are:
meeting will begin at 6:15 pm
Genome Science Building, room G010

I have a quick question about updating my application. I will be getting married at the end of this school year to an active duty military member. Should I email about my change of military status to a military dependent? And if so should I just email the general admissions email?
Thank you in advance!

When the time arrives, you will need to update your military dependent status with the Student Services Office by e-mailing ([email protected]) and submitting the orders.

If you plan to change your name, you will need to work with the university's Registration and Records Office.

I just wanted to clarify something... I know it was said in an earlier post that all admissions decisions will be out by April 1st at the latest, but the timeline on the NCSU website shows that non-resident admissions decisions are sent out even before resident applications go to committee review. Is it true that non-residents will know whether they are accepted, denied or waitlisted by Jan 31? Also are fall transcripts factored into admissions decisions for nonresident applicants? I'm asking cause the Jan 13 deadline is so close to Jan 31.
Thanks! And thank you so much for keeping us so informed, anything helps this waiting process!

I can't give a specific date on decision notification. It is our hope to notify non-residents by January 31 but that date is not "set in stone." The NC Resident Review will begin as soon as the Non-Resident review is complete.

The admissions process will proceed before fall grades are finalized.

All fall transcripts should be sent as soon as grades are posted by your college or university but no later than January 13. If it appears you can't meet that deadline, contact the Student Services Office (by E-MAIL) to inform us of the cause of the delay.

All admission and waitlist decisions will be contingent on the successful completion of prerequisites per admissions rules.

How many people are usually put on the OOS waitlist?

I just got an email from NCSU saying non-residents should hear about decisions in mid-December, and a "welcome weekend" will be held Jan 14 and 15.

Hello Class of 2021 Applicants! This is the Student Services Office for the College of Veterinary Medicine. As you begin the application process, leave any questions you may have here and we will do our best to get them answered.

Scanning the admission financial page - Do out of state students have the opportunity to apply for in state tuition after their first year?

Yes. We have a very helpful student legal services department that helps you line up your ducks, it's no guarantee but if you do the legwork there usually isn't a problem.

Yes, non-resident admits may apply for "residency for tuition purposes" after the first year. A number of informational resources can be found on the NC State web site. Just enter "residency for tuition purposes" in the search bar. For your convenience, here is one of the links.

In case you are planning to visit, college tours resume on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 for the spring semester.

The OOS waitlist normally consists of 55 applicants.

so does that mean that there are more people on the waitlist than there are out of state applicants in the final class? on the website it says only 20 out of state students are admitted

Yes, all vet schools do this as OOS waitlists move very fast. Most students who make it in to their IS school obviously opt to go there causing huge upwards mobility on the list. It's not irregular to make it in on some schools from pretty deep down. This isn't the case for IS waitlists. For example, NCSU probably has an IS waitlist of around 10 (of less) for 80 IS slots.

Any idea on when the NC-Resident Committee review might begin? (asking for my girlfriend)

Thanks!
