Very casual. Many questions were tailored to my personal experiences and application, and arose out of the conversation naturally. They really want to know you can form well thought out and original ideas on the spot, and that you are able to articulate them accordingly.
 
Is everyone up to date on vaccines? Not sure what you need for this school. I couldn't find a copy of my records, so I had to go get all of them again. Even the ones you get as a baby.

I coulda' done a titer test, but insurance didn't want to pay for that!

Don't you have to have those for college? They usually keep a record
 
For all of you that are OMS-1 students here, does this school have a sense of identity/intimacy? It seems odd that the majority of your lectures are skype sessions. Excuse my ignorance (I haven't visited) but as a potential student, it sounds a lot like an "online medical school. Are there a lot of staff/faculty actually on site?

Has anyone that received acceptances last week received their acceptance packet? I can't remember if someone said that they send them out before or after the email

I would definitely say this school has an identity. The large majority of the class are all really close, study together, and help each other. We do have a decent amount of staff that is on-campus and are very knowledgeable faculty able to help us one-on-one if needed. It seems weird to most undergrads but if you actually look on the medical student forums you will find that a decent percent of students don't even attend lectures anyways but rather watch the recording because it is more time efficient (play the lecture at 1.5 speed) and allows you to study at the rate you desire. Going to lecture though is still useful because we have the ability to ask questions and interact with the lecturer at the New York campus. Not all lectures are streamed from New York though and more and more are being given by faculty at the Arkansas campus. I was worried about the "online streaming" as well when I first started but it isn't an issue now that I am actually in my studies. I think other students would agree with me as well. Faculty in New York are also great at responding to emails or if needed can schedule zoom meetings with a student to go over material during their office hours.

The only disadvantage that I have felt mainly is the lack of upperclassmen to help guide and mentor. This won't be an issue for y'all though being the second class.

That's great to hear! It's nice to feel unique and it definitely relieves stress off my shoulders. I had been looking at abortion laws and current medical issues in Arkansas. The only important thing I saw was on the school website. Jonesboro is heavily underserved. Regardless, congratulations on your acceptance.

Hi all. I was among the first ones who got accepted (applied early). I recently moved over here to Arkansas. So if anyone else also recently came over here you can message me and we can probably go eat dinner and meet some new people here. Has anyone received timeline info after they returned their acceptance letter? Cause I never did.

Not sure where I'll be yet, but my deposit for NYIT was due so I withdrew. Still have five more interviews, plus I'm waiting on decisions from three schools, as well as two schools I'm waitlisted at. I was accepted to NYIT and ARCOM, and ARCOM left a better impression on me. NYIT seems like a great school though.

Well that's great to hear man! Yeah I'm going in next week for an interview and I'm kind of
Nervous. Do you happen to know if most people are getting accepted there?
 
Don't be nervous, it was a very laid back interview. If you have looked over standard interview questions, you will be golden. As with any DO school, make sure you have a good reason why you are interested in osteopathic medicine. I'm not sure what the acceptance stats are though.

Sweet! I have only gotten an invite from this school so I feel pressured to do well. I'm URM and many friends have told me to relax but I don't think it really makes a difference. Anyways, congrats on being accepted and wish you the best

Is there a way to express interest in this school other than through NYIT. I know my chances of getting in there aren't as good and I have family in this area so I would like to somehow express that I specifically would like to go to this campus. Thanks!
 
Just received my acceptance email yesterday. It was a surprise because I interviewed this last Monday. That was way faster than they said it would be. This was by far my most relaxing interview. Seems like more of a personality test so just be friendly and passionate about becoming a DO.

Just realized there is a separate thread for just the A-State campus. 4 months late, but anyways...

II today

Completed mid October, 3.5 cGPA, 3.4 sGPA, 509 MCAT, OOS. three years clinical experience.
 
I didn't get my packet today 🙁 maybe they will send it tomorrow 🙁

I thought it was great. It was one on one which made the experience more relaxing. I was impressed by the faculty and staff that we met. All very nice and excited to meet with the interviewees. Just try to be genuine and honest during the interview and express a real interest in becoming an osteopathic physician. I think that helped me the most was that I was able to give them a good sense of my character in just a few minutes. The best thing about this interview was that they did not ask a bunch of questions about my application (MCAT, grades, etc...). It felt like it was about character, like they just wanted to make sure I was a good person and that I really was serious about becoming a DO.

thats great to hear! The majority of people here have said the same thing about the interview so I'm confident mine will be similar. And congratulations on your acceptance. I hope to see you on the first day of class!
 
Does anyone know if the Master of Science in Neuromusculoskeletal Sciences program is available to A-State students also, and if so how it would it work?

They told us it would be available to a small number of A-State students. I don't know the details for sure, but I think you trade a year of teaching OMM for a pretty good scholarship and an MS in NMM.

Yes, this is the Academic Scholar program. You do this in the middle of your 3rd year. Basically you do half of your rotations and then stop at the beginning of January to start doing the program and it ends in December. It is one year of teaching in the OMM and anatomy labs (possibly some teaching of lectures) as well as working on your masters in Neuromusculoskeletal sciences. You must apply for this program and it is competitive at least in New York. For doing the program, you earn your masters as well as a scholarship for 3rd and 4th year. The downside is that you will graduate a year later making it a 5 year program instead of 4 years.

Hey guys! I've been lurking on this thread for a few weeks. I'll be interviewing here on Thursday (Feb. 2) as my first interview. Any tips would be appreciated, although I keep reading that it's a pretty relaxed interview. I'm super excited to check out this school 😀

lol we are like the same person. We have the exact same mcat and GPA I was accepted 11/20 and interviewed 10/24
 
Any word on the 3rd/4th year rotations sites? specialities? requirements?
