RJR,
The biochemistry courses I took with my current post-bac/graduate program at Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine (AZCOM) are very challenging! In comparison to the undergraduate level biochem courses, the medical school ones are MUCH more detailed and challenging.
I've taken a course in biochemistry a total of 5 times:
Undergraduate level (at Univ. of Minnesota):
1) Introductory Biochemistry (3 credits) - 300X level course, required for all science majors
2) Metabolism/Catalysis/Structure Biochemistry (4 credits) - 400X level course, required for all BIOCHEMISTRY majors, this was a tough course as well
3) Physiological Biochemistry of Human Systems (2 credits) - 400X level course, taught by dental school faculty members for Allied Health science majors
Graduate level (at AZCOM):
4) Medical Biochemistry I (7.5 credits)
5) Medical Biochemistry II (5.5 credits)
Both of these biochem courses were thorough and detailed!
In my opinion, I have learned just about anything and everything in Biochemistry at least ONCE! The courses in the graduate level is much more challenging than the ones I took during my undergraduate days.
At Nova, we will be taking (I'd assume) a Biochem course comparable in difficulty as the ones I've already taken with AZCOM since we will have Osteopathic Medical students in our class (medical and dental students will take all the basic science courses together).
If you have not taken Biochemistry before, this class will be challenging for you, but that does not mean that you will not excel in it! From what I heard, at Nova, the faculty/professor hand out all the notes that you need to know for the exams! You'll probably just have to study more often than like say classmates like me!
For a great Biochemistry course book, I would recommend this one:
Biochemistry 2ND Edition (Pamela Champe & Richard Harvey) by Lippincott's
ISBN#:0-397-51091-8
Go to this website and search for this book:

This Biochem book is what I used in my current medical school! A great reference biochemistry book! If you have any more questions, let me know!
Hope this helps! Don't worry about Biochem next year, Nova will "spoon feed" us, I guarantee you.
