I emailed Mrs. Ferris and she said sometime next week. Couldn't get in touch with Anastasia to ask her.

Oh man. Well I guess the only way to know for sure will be to check here tomorrow morning and see if anyone gets an email. Good luck!

Since the last batch of acceptance emails has there been any other interviews other than the ones on Jan 31st and Feb 7th up until now?

I saw a procession of well dressed people being escorted by our Dr. McCarthy out of the hallway leading to the sim lab center... So there was definitely an interview group today.

Sounds like the same pattern. I interviewed on a Thursday and the day after I saw people on sdn getting accepted who interviewed two weeks before.
 
I was in the interview group from yesterday, talked with administration before leaving. The woman said the adcom meets every other Tuesday - next one will be 2/26 and they'll consider everyone who interviewed in that block. They said give it 2 weeks from that but the trend here looks like you know of an acceptance by that Friday.

Got the email that I am being placed as an Alternate, guess I have wait a bit longer.

Same here... 🙁 Does that mean their class is full, or do they just want to see if there is better out there?
 
Alternate = waitlist... Would anyone mind sharing their stats just as a reference point - curious if NOVA is at the point where their just filling the waitlist or if they're still offering acceptances...
 
Seems like these last batch of interviews have been wait listed. During the last batch of emails sent out on Feb 1st I saw alot of people saying they were accepted on here. Not seeing that today.
 
Only like 5 alternates - seems like the interview group would be larger than 5
 
Wow - total number of interveiwees for your day? I guess I'm gonna be shooting for the alternate list.

I'd say about 15-20? Was a couple weeks ago so I could be off. My stats were 3.3 and 35
 
If you're interviewing this late then there's unfortunately a much much higher chance of you getting placed on the alternate list. But do not fret. All hope has certainly not been lost. Do not think that you have worked this hard for nothing. Having said that, from here on out you need to make every effort to let Nova know why you're interested/would be a great addition to the Class of 2017. Send them meaningful updates. Continue shadowing/volunteering/etc. Maybe get a new DO letter or your first DO letter if you haven't already gotten one.

Just some simple things to keep in mind from here until July. Take it from someone who was in your position last year.

Looks like the alternate list has gotten bigger :/ sorry to hear that guys

I've been on it since the fall, my stats were 3.2 31O
 
Make that 8 alternates. Is this normal for this block of interviews?

NeuroLax is a current student at NOVA from what I gather and unfortunately he/she(?) has indicated that this late in the cycle is interviews are more likely for the alternate list. (see above post)
 
"If the committee chooses an alternate candidate to fill a seat for the incoming class an alternate will be randomly selected. This process can be conducted until August 2013."

Think they really mean randomly selected? Like pull a name out of a hat kind of random?
 
Wow, I was getting excited since I hadn't received an alternate email and interviewed the 31st but looking at the stats of those that got placed on the alternate list I'm not feeling so good. They would send me a rejection email if I do get rejected right?
 
I heard the WL does move though, so despite being put on it don't lose all hope yet. Good luck guys.

if i were you i'd be really excited. i've heard that the don't leave people hanging (if they're gonna reject you, they won't hesitate to do so...)

i can't tell if anyone gets rejected though. it seems that people either get in or get wait-listed. any thoughts?
 
i'm so mad at myself. i had the opportunity to interview earlier and i didn't do it. i thought 2/7 would still be early enough. oh the regret.

thank you for the encouraging comments, though. it makes me feel much more hopeful.
 
Are all these new alternates instate or out of state? Y'all have some crazy stats

Hey all. Im out of state, 33P MCAT, 3.732 overall GPA, ~3.6 science GPA. I just got placed as an alternate a few days ago.

Anyone else have a similar situation? I don't mean to brag and try and suggest my scores are outrageously awsome but they are pretty far above average and wonder how I got waitlisted considering the interview went pretty well and all.

I'm guessing they just ran out of room at this point.

The next deposit deadline is March 15th, and so I imagine a lot of movement will occur after that.

The facebook group for class of 2017 has 228 members - based on that, spots are limited for a class of 250 - 🙁
 
Keep in mind a lot of those members are current students. There might also be those who were accepted but who didn't join the group. So the number is not accurate at all.
 
Oh really? I assumed that was a facebook group created specifically for the incoming class... Def could be wrong on that tho - that would be fantastic if it wasn't representative of the incoming class only.
 
Wow some of the above stats of the people who got alternate listed are just insane. I am applying next cycle and these stats are scaring the s*** out of me. I understand some of you applied late but does it really become that tough if one applies late in a cycle?

33P MCAT, 3.732 overall GPA, ~3.6 science GPA...thats MD status right there

For perspective, my class FB group has 465 members in it. More and more of my class will slowly join the Class of 2017 group.

I do admit, I interviewed on Feb 5th, which is rather late.

But what really irks me more than that is the fact that I have submitted my application in September, which I thought wasn't THAT late but apparently is telling me otherwise. The same for the MD schools I applied to....I have only had an interview at one other medical school and that was due to being in-state; I am waiting to hear back from them.

As a second-time applicant my mind is going bonkers, but I gotta stay the course I guess.
