Nova Southeastern Univ (NSU-COM) Discussion Thread 2012 - 2013

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I withdrew from WVSOM and LECOM which were my last two interviews the second I got my acceptance lol. Definitely made my day.

Cool cool... the tough part of the app cycle is over now that you got into your top choice. Congrats again, and looking forward to meeting you and everyone else next year.

Maybe you should start the Facebook group for your class. Here at Nova, we pride ourselves in the Facebook groups... they always have tons of study info, class info, etc. Very good resource and means of communicating with your fellow student doctors!

I've heard about your multiple class facebooks 🙂

So here's all the emails of people that received acceptances from Nova today.

jk. But it was a mass email and I counted 34 unique emails.

You can see the email addresses of the people who were accepted?

I presume they are the people who were accepted. They are "recipients" of the email sent to me and none of them are @nova.edu or whatever so it's not like they're CC'ing ADCOM or anything. One of the emails is a girl on the UD group (presuming based on name and school email) and I know she got accepted.

Interesting. Didn't think they would do that.

Yeah, they're people who have been accepted; I can verify another two from the list. They both interviewed the same day that we did. No real harm, I guess, since we all received good news. Maybe, they wanted us to feel special for being one of the first few accepted 😎 . Realistically, it's probably just a computer glitch.

Hoping that I will get good news in a couple weeks!!! You guys are making me hopeful!:luck:

Nice. The first bunch of acceptances have been given out. Hope for that similar excitement later on? lol or not. :xf:

Hi everyone Congrats on the acceptances!!

I am a little late I just submitted my secondary because I have my score coming October 9th..You think there is a chance for an OOS student this far into the game?

I'm starting to think I'll be interviewing for waitlist spots in late October. SDN is dominating here!

Not everyone gets accepted. On my interview day some students said their interview didn't go as well as planned. We'll see, people who got rejected are less likely to post. Moral of the story is: keep your hopes up! Their class is pretty large and they don't accept everyone they interview!

On another note, I hope I got accepted! LOL :xf::luck:😍

I don't have that

I wouldn't be concerned. I interviewed in February due to late application submission and ended up wait listed. The class at that time had been essentially filled, maybe a few spots left. Let's cross that bridge when it comes, ok? I wouldn't be too concerned in October, just rock your interview.

Did you interview already? How did it go? I know were excited/nervous about this one.

I looked for your first name in the group of emails and I don't see it. Maybe they sent yours individually.

Did yours have a PDF to download?

Probably. I remember mine having an attached PDF.

I just looked at the email. Not sure if it's because of the timeframe but my email said that my file had been selected to fill a spot for the class, and to see the attached PDF for the official acceptance letter. Also received an acceptance letter in the mail a few days later.

Well it's nothing too exciting. Promise.

Yeah it's not really anything too exciting. Just an official acceptance letter. You'll have to worry about financial aid next semester after you do your taxes. Get them done quickly. For now, I guess you can wok on your immunizations.

Next August feels like forever away 🙁

I know it seems like a long time and it is. Do anything to get your mind off of med school because you've achieved something most aren't able to. You deserve it, and when med school starts you will busier than you have ever been.

Yes, I already interviewed!

The questions I was asked were : Tell me about yourself, a specific question about what I did to raise my MCAT score, how did shadowing inspire you to become a physician, what would you change about health care, give me an example of a leadership role you were in, how do you get organized, how do you think YOU can change people, how many schools did you apply to, what would you do if you got rejected, and finally why should we pick you over everyone else out in that room.

Also I had time to ask 3 questions to my interviewers. I could of asked them questions all day, frankly, but I got the non-verbal memo that they had to get going LOL. I like interviewing people...they shouldn't put me in a position like that....I will have way too much fun!

If anyone is curious as to how I answered any of these questions feel free to PM me. I thought the interview was pretty hard but I think I did well.

The rest of the day was wonderful and I thought everyone was really nice and even could see my self being buddies with the other candidates that were there. It is nice to meet people who went through all the things you did and are willing to share their experiences. That doesn't happen often in my undergrad because we're all pretty competitive with each other with a few exceptions.

Way different questions than my group. I'm glad it went well for you. Hopefully you guys only have to wait to weeks too.

Some people in my group were really grilled by the interviewers. They asked about bad grades, gaps in education, poor MCAT scores. So I would be prepared if you have any of these in your app. I know the previous group said nothing like this came up for them but it isi possible it will come up, so make sure you are prepared.

Yeah I know, I just wrote the previous message for everyone else reading. Some people said the interview was easy and only a few questions, others had a harder time with it and I got a lot of questions and got my brain really picked by the interviewers in a short amount of time. I know you already got accepted! CONGRATS, BTW! The other message was more of a public service announcement than a reply to you, sorry. LOL

I just woke up so I'm still easily confused. But definitely agree with your statement on being prepared to talk about weakness on your application because that's what one or two were about for me.

So when you guys answer the hard ethics questions, do you allow yourself any time to think about it or do you just fire away?

I didn't get any a Nova but when I had one at AZCOM on Friday I did give myself some time to think about it and I'm glad I did.

Yup. This is true.

As much as I loved this school, the interview was... Well, let's just say it could have gone better.
