No, but I have visited both in the summer. SoCal is a lot less humid, and is hotter.
Don't ignore the humidity factor. To me, humidity is horrible. I would rather it be 100 degrees and low humidity than 80 degrees and high humidity. In the last month I interviewed in both Florida and Arizona. I liked the temperature/humidity combination better in Arizona.
Don't get me wrong. I am accepted at Fort Lauderdale. I will attend there if that is my only acceptance. But I think I would go to Arizona over Florida after experiencing my interview days. I also think I will go to either Florida or Arizona over an acceptance in Oregon (OHSU or COMP-NW).
Also, the rain in Florida is different than I am used to. I am from Oregon where it will rain for 24 hours constantly, but only get 3/4 of an inch. In Florida it rains EVERY DAY at 3:00 pm. You can set your watch to how regular the weather is. It will rain for 20 to 30 minutes, give about an inch or two, then STOP. The sun will come out and it will be fine for the rest of the day (with increased humidity from the water on the ground).
The day before my LECOM-B interview, I was eating lunch in BurgerKing. I was parked in the closest spot to the door. It was raining when I got done eating and I thought "What the heck, I am not afraid of a little water." DUMB DUMB DUMB. It was like I walked into a swimming pool. I proceeded to go to WallyWorld and buy the first umbrella that I have ever owned. I was not going to risk my suit getting wet the next day. Ha ha.
The traffic is another story... but I think the freeway is slightly better than LA, but the side streets are worse. It took me about 45 minutes to get to my interview at Nova when the GPS said it would be 10 minutes from the hotel to the school. It is a good thing that I left almost an hour early. I left the hotel at 7:35 and got there at 8:20 for the 8:30 start time.
