Good luck with the interviews. I really loved my visit there. I still keep thinking about them

My first choice as well. Though my GPAs are below their average. Hope to balance that with a good MCAT score. I know for a fact that NOVA like applicants with above average MCAT (29+).

For a fact?

During the first weeks I met quite a few fellow classmates who were accepted in the several weeks prior to the start of classes, so it does happen. I went through all of that and it sucked for 4 months. Unfortunately, I don't have any specifics or statistics. Good luck!

Thank you Neuro. Just found out I was placed on the alternate list. Is there a difference between the "alternate" list and the "waitlist" or are these two names for the same thing?

Also, does anyone know if the first few months of interviewees had any rejections or does nobody get rejected outright post-interview? Just trying to figure out where I stand here. Thanks everyone 🙂

hi everyone...just wanted to let yall know that they are NOT full until January...I got an interview invite today and scheduled for Nov. 15h and there were still at least 5 dates still open

good luck!

alternate list = waitlist

They send out decisions ~2wks after your interview, so I assume that includes rejections as well.

There's still hope!

It was nice meeting everyone that interviewed today! I hope we all hear good news :xf:

Thanks for the info and the positivity! I hope your interview went well! :xf:

For anyone who rescheduled their interview. date, did you guys get a confirmation email confirming your rescheduled date? Did it take a while to get this email? I just got an email confirming my cancellation but nothing about the rescheduled date. I am afraid that this may mean that the rescheduled date didn't go through. But, on that link they provided, under "Existing Appointments", I do see my rescheduled date.

II today!!! Scheduled for Nov 27th. Anybody else on that day? Also was booking hotel/flight, any good hotel recommendations!

what time were you guys done with the interview day? Will I be able to catch a 5:00pm flight?

My flight left at 4:45. I left right after the lunch to make it to the airport in plenty of time. I skipped the "required" tour. The tour is not really required, they just say it is so people stay for it. Last year they called it "optional" and only a fraction of the people went on it.

I don't remember when the tour is over, but it does not take more than 20 minutes to get to the airport from the school (non-rush hour traffic). Then from the rental car return it is fairly easy to get to the terminals (ride a shuttle bus). Security was almost a straight walk through (and I did it on 9/11 when security was fairly tight). then I sat there for over 90 minutes waiting for my flight.

Good luck on the interview. Just don't show up late. I got lost on the way, and took almost an hour to get from the hotel to the interview. Then parking was in a parking garage. I had to park on the 4th or 5th level. Then I had to find the office. I got there with only a few minutes to relax before the interview day started.

I think I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Plantation. It was a nice room and an excellent breakfast. The only bad part was the traffic from the hotel to the school. The people at the front desk said about 5-10 minutes to the school. I gave myself an hour to get there in the morning. I got lost and it took me more than 40 minutes just to find the parking garage.

Hey errbody,

Interviewed on 10/4, accepted on 10/17! (SO Pumped!) would be more than happy to answer any questions about my experiences during the application process, concerns you might have, etc. Good luck to you all!

Mine left at 3. I had to miss the campus tour (at the end), but I was fine otherwise.

anyone?

I got a confirmation immediately after rescheduling it.

did you first cancel your original date and then go back and pick the new date? Or did you just pick the new date and your original date automatically got replaced by the rescheduled date?

Had to cancel the old one to schedule a new one. I also received confirmation of the cancellation immediately after cancelling. If you didn't receive a confirmation, I'd just try to schedule again as if you'd never scheduled one? Or call them...

yeah, I received an email confirming the cancellation immediately. In the morning , when I would go to the link they provided, it would say "Welcome Angldrps" and have a separate section for "existing appts" under which I could see my rescheduled date. Now, when I am going on the same link, it doesn't have the Welcome page or the "existing appts" section anymore. Maybe their system is down?! Calling them is a pain because nobody from the DO admissions ever picks up.

What was your timeline for verification, secondary complete, etc.? What are your stats?

I submitted my secondary a week ago.

This is exactly what happened to me. I rescheduled earlier this week but I'm still waiting on the confirmation email and the slot I picked is full on the scheduler. It's confusing and I'm not sure how to be 100% certain as to whether it was confirmed.

I know I posted this before, but are most of the interview slots full for the year and invites are being sent out if there are cancellations?

I just booked my interview yesterday. There were about 5 interview days open, one was late nov, the rest were December. Idk how many slots were open for each day.

you have to keep checking because dates randomly open up quite frequently. I was originally scheduled for Nov.29 and just yesterday I rescheduled to Nov.1

Do you have to have an interview scheduled in order to see other available slots?

I think so. When you get an interview invite, you are provided with a link that takes you to the site where you can see a calendar with all the open and closed dates. The ii email said that this link is unique for each applicant who gets a interview invite and should not be shared with others.

Gotcha. Thanks for the info 🙂

Currently in a post-bacc program at an osteopathic school, will have an A in both medical gross anatomy and histology at end of semester. also taking upper level science courses to replace bad undergrad grades. 3.1s and 3.35c (both will go up at end of semester), mcat is 23Q. any chances at nova? mcat isn't great i realize but no chance to take it again this cycle...i'm hoping the A's in med school classes show I can be successful. thoughts?

You may wanna post this in what are my chances thread, but I would take the MCAT in July to raise it up 3-4 points. You can do it!

I think As in retakes and med school classes look positive in relation to an old GPA, but a low MCAT is something else altogether. I don't think you need someone on SDN to tell you that your chances are obviously diminished due to your MCAT, though. Your grades in med school classes will look positive, so keep it up 👍

I agree with holding off this cycle and applying next cycle with a better score. Honestly, I'm not trying to be that guy on here who sees low scores and says "wait til next cycle" automatically. Coming from personal experience, I held off on applying one year until I got my MCAT up. I'm glad I didn't waste my time and money applying with my first score. In that year I finished a master's, did research, added ECs, and raised my MCAT score significantly.

I can't wait till the 9 th..... do they call or mail acceptances or rejections?

Email acceptances, not sure about the rest. I was accepted a week ago and still haven't received their little acceptance packet in the mail though.

10/4. Took 2 weeks and a day for a response. They SAID that if we didn't hear back by the end of the day on the 26th to call them because we should hear back by then. So I heard back a week before that. My friend got a call that day, waitlisted.

Nice meeting you too, probably! I don't know exactly who you are, though. I was also group 1. Roc, I definitely know who you are. Sorry we didn't end up making it out that night.

Haha yea, based on your MDapps profile, I don't think we actually met. We were probably in different "sub-groups" aka the groups we were in when talking to Anastasia. Regardless 😛

Super awesome meeting you guys all! I was also in group 1, thank freakin goodness. I got to enjoy the tour and rest of the day. I really liked the whole group of interviewees we had on 10/25. Everyone was so chill and talkative, no crazy people trying to sabotage people's interview.. I can't wait until the 9th... It's really nice that they give out decisions within two weeks of interviews though. good luck everyone!!

Whoaaaaa. I am thinking you are either Aaron or Pattie. Am I right, am I right?? 😎

I am thinking of skipping on NOVA's interview to save $$ in favor of putting down the deposit for LECOM-B. If anyone on here who has interviewed at both these schools or anyone else who wants to give me some feedback on this, I would really appreciate it. thanks🙂

I really want to tell you to go but I didn't apply to LECOM-B, so I'm not qualified. I was really really impressed, but do whatever you feel is best.

They're both good schools. But before you make your final decision, I recommend searching for the plethora of LECOM-B vs Nova threads. Objectively speaking, this really helped me make my decision to go to Nova over LECOM-B. I'll leave you to look them over and formulate your own opinion based on your pros and cons for each school.

being the neurotic premed I am , I have already been doing this. haha. Really the main reason my heart is leaning towards LECOM over all my other acceptances is PBL. But, then virtually everyone on SDN falls head over heels in love with NOVA after they interview there, so I am really torn. I have been to 6 interviews in 2 months and I am honestly exhausted. Don't really know what to do.

I hear ya. It's a tough decision. One of the most important factors is whether or not someone thinks they can thrive with PBL. It has a lot to do with preferences in learning style. Yes, Nova is more expensive, but I don't regret my decision one bit. I love the school and I am excited about learning medicine in a multicultural region.

Remember, I went to both. I will send you a PM so we won't clutter up this thread.
